General elections were held in Liechtenstein on 15 February 1953. The Progressive Citizens' Party won eight of the 15 seats in the Landtag , but remained in coalition with the Patriotic Union . This was the first and only election contested by the Workers' and Peasants' Party .
Electoral system
The 15 members of the Landtag were elected by open list proportional representation from two constituencies, Oberland with 9 seats and Unterland with 6 seats. Only parties and lists with more than 18% of the votes cast in each constituency were eligible to win seats in the Landtag. Only males were eligible to vote.
