In 1975, the New York State Board of Regents authorized WBI to offer the Associate in Occupational Studies (AOS) Degree.

In 1985, the college moved from Bank Street to 325 Central Avenue.

In 2003, the college changed its name to The College of Westchester and was also granted accreditation by Middle States Commission on Higher Education, a regional accreditor, that same year. In 2008, it offered its first bachelor's degrees, and by 2023, it offered bachelors and associate degrees, and certificates, in business, health professions, and information technology.
