As a unique form of publicity, from the announcement of the film, posters have been released inspired by Minsara Kanavu, Dil Se (Uyire), Alaipayuthey & Geethanjali (Idhayathai Thirudathey). The first poster was released in February and pays tribute to the music video for the song "Vennilave Vennilave" from the 1997 Tamil film Minsara Kanavu.
Story
The movie, made in both Tamil and Telugu, is to be released in February 2010 and follows the love story of Karthik and Jessie. Karthik is an ambitious idealist while Jessie is a simple, conservative Malayalee Christian girl. When Karthik and Jessie meet, it's love at first sight...for Karthik. Jessie holds back, but is unable to resist the persuasive, romantic Karthik. However cultural clashes soon rear their head.
Filming
The shooting started on February 14 and was held in several locations as Malta, Kerala, the Chennai and Rome. The songs of the film was shot in Malta at sets and choreographed by Flexi Stu, a very famous choreographer.
Soundtrack
Film score and soundtrack are composed by A. R. Rahman, scoring for the first time for a Gautham film. The album was released on 19 December 2009 in London with several film personalities participating at the grand function. It was the first time that a Tamil movie audio release was held in London. The album features six songs plus one theme track by composer A. R. Rahman himself. Lyrics are penned by Menon's usual associate, Thamarai. The seven-song soundtrack features lyrics in Tamil and Malayalam. The soundtrack will be released globally by Sony Music on 2 January 2010.
