  • curprev 13:3013:30, 22 September 2022 Succubus MacAstaroth talk contribs 14,939 bytes 0 Etymology: 浪 can mean either wave or wander, and in this case it means wander. 人 means person (pronounced hito) when used alone, but in a compound word it has two different possible senses: 1) "person who is X" (pronounced jin; used for passive traits like "foreign person" or "smart person") or 2) "person who does X" (pronounced nin; equivalent to the English suffix -er, as seen in runner, speaker, etc.) Thus the correct translation is not "wave person" or "wander person", but "wanderer". undo
