Does anyone else see a common thread here with the current ] debate? ] 03:02, 12 January 2007 (UTC) |

:Yes, in both cases we see some editors who almost never create any content spill oceans of virtual ink debating naming issues, and taking time away from those who actually do something constructive in this project. So may I suggest you stop asking such questions which only contribute to that time wastage, and instead do something constructive, like copyedit English in articles? We have a serious lack of experienced copyeditors, and I know you are good in that. Thank you.--<span style="border:1px solid #228B22;padding:1px;">]|]</span> 05:12, 12 January 2007 (UTC) |

:::Halibutt, the correct Lithuanian name for WC is ''Vinstonas Leonardas Spenseris Čerčilis'', not ''Wynstonas Churchilas''. I'd strongly suggest we try to avoid using this language and leave it to our Lithuanian collegues to deal with it's intricacies, as you can see they are quite touchy when people make mistakes in it.--<span style="border:1px solid #228B22;padding:1px;">]|]</span> 19:28, 14 January 2007 (UTC) |

Yes, the Lithuanian editors have been a bit touchy about the whole subject. So is there any need to be ] about it? You're clearly just ] with all the "let's rename every single page to Lithuanian" and so on and so forth. I, personally, don't see any need for it. I know it's been said a ] times, but why can't everyone stop with the snide comments? For once? I'm not gonna get my hopes up. '''<font color="DarkGreen">]</font>''' 21:22, 14 January 2007 (UTC) |

:I completly agree; I have asked Dr. Dan several times to avoid starting such debates which inevitably lead to ]. Perhaps you can chime in?--<span style="border:1px solid #228B22;padding:1px;">]|]</span> 21:40, 14 January 2007 (UTC) |

::Hopefully, you're not implying that Dr.Dan is the only one to blame. It's pretty much everyone. The snide comments have been coming from left, right and centre. So, therefore, EVERYONE needs to stop the ''Us v. Them'' attitude. It won't be easy and I think we're past the stage where everyone can just shake hands and make up, so another way is probably the way to go. What everyone has to see is that there are several sides to the story and everyone has a case for claiming someone is of a certain nationality. No-one is claiming that Churchill is Lithuanian. There's a difference between a phonetic transcription of a name, and the name in a different language. '''<font color="DarkGreen">]</font>''' 22:04, 14 January 2007 (UTC) |
