	Homocausto or "Homocaust" is a term used in Brazil to describe the high rate of murders of homosexuals in Brazil.<ref name="sdgln">http://sdgln.com/news/2011/01/14/homocausto-brazil-250-lgbt-people-murdered-one-year</ref> From 1980 to 2009, some 3,196 homicides were recorded targeting homosexuals.<ref name="globo">http://oglobo.globo.com/pais/eleicoes2010/mat/2010/10/16/numero-de-assassinatos-de-gays-no-pais-cresceu-62-desde-2007-mas-tema-fica-fora-da-campanha-922804348.asp</ref> in Brazil.
