==Background==
Jimmy Taylor is one of the few law enforcement officers left in Jericho after the pilot episode. With his partner ], he enforces the law in town. Throughout the series, Jimmy has patrolled with Eric Green. In '']'', Jimmy and Bill were stuffed in the trunk of their ] police car while two escaped prisoners posed as them. Jimmy is born to Jericho and he has family in Jericho. Jimmy seems very fond of Robert Hawkins and it is not as much vice-versa. It is shown later in the series he briefly took over the position of the sheriff of Jericho. But following his injury during the battle with New Bern, he is relieved by Major Beck and Jake Green takes over the position of the sheriff of Jericho.


Taylor played as a junior at Leigh East and toured New Zealand with the BARLA Young Lions side before joining hometown club ], making his début in a home victory over ] in 2005.

In the fourth episode, Jimmy successfully recruits ] into the Jericho Sheriff's Department.


Taylor has twice won silverware with his only professional club, winning the Northern Rail Cup in 2006 against ], and the same competition again in 2011 against Halifax.
===Rogue River===
When ] and ] were in ], Jimmy and ] questioned Robert Hawkins. While searching the Hawkins home, Jimmy found an ] badge and ID card, which Hawkins claimed were his. In that same episode, Jimmy tells ] that he has a son about the same age, comparing his son to Darcy and Robert's son Samuel.

===Black Jack===
In '']'' Jimmy and ] went to check on various towns people after a dramatic temperature drop. When Jake find the dead body of a resident Jimmy says in a soft and compassionate voice, "The temperature dropped so quickly." In the same episode, Jimmy tells Robert Hawkins that a ] was looking for him.

===Winter's End===
Jimmy returns several times to the Hawkins' residence to learn about the whereabouts of Sarah Mason. It is clear that his reasons for dropping by are not what he claims. Robert Hawkins tells him that she left town to "family in ]". Jimmy has to accept the story when Darcy backs her husband up. Jimmy learns that Darcy and the kids have moved out of the house and offers for them to stay with his family so they do not have to live at the refugee center.

===A.K.A.===
In ''A.K.A.'' Jimmy tells Jake that he knows that Rob has a fake FBI badge. Later he breaks into Hawkin's house and finds a room with a draw filled with ID's from the ] under the alias Robert Wheeler, ] ] under the alias Robert Ellis, and the ] under the alias Commander Robert Richmond. At the end of the episode Jimmy believes that Hawkins is an ] agent.

===Casus Belli===
Jimmy finds his son Woody and Darcy's son ] drawing pictures and Sam is drawing a monster attacking his family and it is very graphic. Jimmy later tells Darcy that he thinks that Sam is traumatized and can't speak about his feelings and is expressing himself through artwork.

Jimmy Taylor (born 11 September 1984) is a professional rugby league footballer for the Leigh Centurions in the Co-Operative Championship. He plays in the second-row or at loose forward, lock.

Taylor played as a junior at Leigh East and toured New Zealand with the BARLA Young Lions side before joining hometown club Leigh Centurions, making his début in a home victory over London Broncos in 2005.

Taylor has twice won silverware with his only professional club, winning the Northern Rail Cup in 2006 against Hull Kingston Rovers, and the same competition again in 2011 against Halifax.
