Revision as of 16:31, 23 March 2007

Greetings, my (user) name is Acalamari. I am a 16 year old English immigrant living on the West Coast of the mainland United States of America. I have been living here for eleven years; since February 7th, 1996. I was born on November 29th, 1990.

I joined Misplaced Pages on October 19th, 2006, though the logs say that I joined on the 20th. That's only because of time differences, since Misplaced Pages is on a different time to me. The main reason I decided to register with Misplaced Pages was so I could correct minor errors in articles. I have fixed mistakes that I know I can correct. However, I have done much more than just sort out minor errors, and as a result, my contributions are much, much better than they were.

My major contributions to Misplaced Pages include heavy editing to the Fergie (singer), Anna Nicole Smith, and Paris Hilton articles. I have also done a lot of editing to the Aly & AJ, Alyson Michalka, and Amanda Michalka articles. I've done many changes to several Star Trek related pages as well, including cleaning up the Other Starfleet ship classes and USS Enterprise NCC-1701-E articles.

I also alerted an Administrator about a virus I found on one of the Christina Aguilera sites. This virus has been sorted out, though I do occasionally check the sites I found it on.

Upon hearing about the deaths of Molly Ivins and Anna Nicole Smith, I went straight to those articles to help out. It is sad that some people vandalized these pages when they heard about the deaths.

I have been involved in the deletion discussions of a few articles, and I was in a Mediation Case as well. I've been involved in many important discussions. I help deal with sockpuppets and trolls, vandals, and other disruptive users.

I give help to Users whenever I can, and if my Misplaced Pages skills don't cover what a User needs, I will always check the Misplaced Pages help pages or ask an Administrator.

December 22nd, 2006, 02:58; reached 500 contributions. It was a message to the "Kylie Ireland Talk Page."

January 17th, 2007, 18:24; reached 1000 contributions. It was an edit to "List of Starfleet starships ordered by class," in the "Constellation class" section.

March 5th 2007, 23:49; reached 3500 contributions.

Another thing: this User Page has been vandalized 20 1/2 times. I thank all the kind Users who have reverted the vandalism.

Plus: When the English-Language Misplaced Pages reached 1,500,000 Articles, I typed in this message to acknowledge Misplaced Pages.

Origin Of Acalamari

The meaning of my username: Acalamari does not have anything to do with me being a squid. It is named after the animal, and it is also named after a fictional planet called "Mon Calamari." The "A" at the front separates it from "calamari." I also think the name Acalamari just looks and sounds good.

For some reason, some people don't seem to be able to spell my name right. Instead, they just put "Aclamari," "Alcamari," "Alacamari," or "Acamalari." I do not know why they aren't able to spell it correctly. Acalamari is easy to spell, but some users still type it wrong.

My username has also been parodied, or "spoofed," as Persian Poet Gal calls it. Here is a list of my parodied/spoofed names:

I've also encountered certain users who are opposed to me. See these edits:

Of course, I've seen better edits than those. Look at this one:

Barnstars

These barnstars and other awards are on a subpage. I wish to thank HighInBC for both creating the subpage and for awarding me my first barnstar. My RfA/RfB-related awards are located on User: Acalamari/RfA-related awards.

My three most recent barnstars are transcluded onto my user page:

Bureaucrat's award
Hi Acalamari,

I've seen that you've been closing most of the recent RfAs, and I thought I'd give you this just so you know that your work doesn't go unnoticed. Keep it up! Biblioworm 18:48, 29 November 2014 (UTC)

The Bureaucrat's Barnstar
Time and time again, the bureaucrats of en-wiki demonstrate their levelheadedness and expertise. Like an anesthesiologist in an operating room, you spend most of your time screwing around reading a magazine, but stand ready to spring into action when needed, only to fade into the background once your important work is done.

Or perhaps that's more like Batman? Whatever your preferred metaphor, I am consistently impressed by the bureaucrat corps. Thank you for your service. HiDrNick! 12:46, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
After serving as a Wikipedian for exactly 10 years, this is for the countless contributions you've made throughout the past decade. Very few people I know of have even come close to working on the site for so long. That takes serious dedication. Happy 10th Anniversary! Yes; I timed this to coincide with the very minute you registered your account per UTC time. Snuggums (talk / edits) 03:29, 20 October 2016 (UTC)
