==History==

Bruce, who had lost both his parents and elder brother in his infancy, grew up living a life plagued by hunger and much violence. Disliking the cards fate had dealt him, Bruce yearned to live the good life, and his resolve made him a very strong fighter.

As he was a ], Bruce went to ] to compete in a ] tournament, and his performance destroyed the former popular champion's hopes of ever returning. As a result, a Muay Thai gambling organization put out a contract on Bruce's life.
While on board a returning flight home, the contract killer attempted to take Bruce's life, but an investigator of Hong Kong's International Police force, who was also on the flight, thwarted his efforts. A fight ensued and when it was over the plane went down.
A unit from ]'s facilities later rescued Bruce, who had been surviving off of human remains for several months.

Many thought that Bruce was dead, but in ], it was revealed that Bruce had been working for several special units, and he was currently working as a survival technical guidance instructor. He entered The King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 in order to test his skills once again.

=== Tekken 6 ===
After becoming reacquainted with Kazuya Mishima at the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5, Bruce Irvin decided to assist Kazuya with his scheme to takeover G Corporation, and after they had succeeded Kazuya managed to control the corporation from behind closed doors.

G Corporation waged war with the Mishima Financial Group (MFG), and Bruce, as Kazuya’s captain, led Kazuya’s private corps into battle, fighting the MFG the world over. Soon afterwards, G Corporation made preparations to annihilate the MFG by placing an enormous bounty on Jin, and as anticipated, the MFG began to show signs of movement; The opening of King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 was announced.

Bruce Irvin has entered the tournament to capture Jin…

Bruce appears as a playable character in the non-canon ]. He also makes an appearance in ] when fighting ]. Bruce breaks his fist against Jack-2's steel alloy and Jack-2 knocks him into the water.

:Bruce is practicing with a sandbag. An excited youngster looks through the window. Bruce puts on several combos and his mighty kick knocks the bag off its chain, causing it to slam against the wall. The impact causes the boy to fall from the window. The surprised boy looks up at a smiling Bruce, who gives the boy the thumbs up.

:Bruce throws many punches and kicks towards the camera. When he finishes, many people are seen defeated on the ground, and ] and ] are among them.

:In an urban neighborhood, a boy is punching a sandbag. Three gangsters come and harass him. They cut open the sandbag with a pocket knife, beat the boy up and take his boxing gloves. Bruce appears and beats up the three gangsters and returns the gloves to the boy. He encourages the boy to keep it up before walking away.

==Character/Personality==
Bruce shows a generally negative attitude towards his opponents. He is blunt and rude most of the time. Occasionally he shows a bit of arrogance, somewhat talking down to his opponents, and even shows a bit of a lecherous streak when he briefly hits on Christie Montiero, but quickly pairs his come-on with a moment of bragging about his kicks. However, despite these qualities, Bruce is a concentrated and dedicated fighter, and usually comes to show his opponents a bit of grudging respect if they show considerable skill, an example being his somewhat ambiguous rivalry with Kazuya Mishima.
Bruce also apparently has a soft spot for children and acts as a role model for them. His ending in Tekken 2 shows him working out on a sandbag, while a young admirer watches. In Tekken 5, he goes out of his way to beat up some thugs who had previously ganged up on a young boy and stolen his boxing gloves. After retrieving them, Bruce stands over the boy and gives him his gloves back. Before walking away, Bruce simply smiles and says, "Keep it up, kid".

==Fighting Style==

Although Bruce and ] share some moves, their fighting styles are completely different. Bryan is more of a Brawler who utilizes Modern ], where as Bruce employs the "art of the eight limbs" ] Kickboxing. A few techniques included in his movelist in ] also bare similarity to ], a predecessor to ].
Bruce's movelist comprises mostly of both fast and powerful strikes like elbows, knees, and low kicks, and are relatively safe when blocked. His moves tend to leave the opponent in front of him in contrast to Bryan whose move tend more to knock the opponent far away. Both their attacks, though, are mostly linear,and can easily be side-stepped, which can be a disadvantage in the game.
