Channel 9 broadcasts programmes that are marketed mostly to Malays and young adults. Its line-up consists of informational, entertaining and educational shows.

Channel 9 began its on-air broadcast on Tuesday, ]] as ''']''', and its workforce mostly consists of the former ] employees. The channel's line-up comprised international programmes (mainly ], ] and ] content) and local shows. The Chinese language programming slot was aired between 15.00 pm and 20.00 pm, while ] programmes were aired between 20.00 pm and 20.30 pm. This was followed by English programmes, which were broadcast from 20.30 pm until 00.00 am.

In ], '''Anaza Sdn Bhd''' the owner of ], took over the majority rights to this channel from Medanmas Sdn Bhd. Subsequently, Channel 9 launched its slogan names '''Malaysia''' in ]. Under the new management, the '''Hindi Power''' slot for ] programmes and '''Channel 9 Tamil''' for ] programmes were introduced. The former was aired daily from 16.00 pm until 18.00 pm while the latter occupied the 18.00 pm to 20.00 pm time slot. A newer segment for Chinese programmes, called '''Channel 9 Mandarin''', was aired from 10.00 pm to 12.30 am on ] to ]. '''Channel 9 English''' a slot for ] was only aired on ] from 13.00 pm until 16.00 pm.

On Saturday, ], Channel 9 announced that it was halting its operations on Tuesday, ] ] to restructure its debts and corporate organisation. It also faced intense competitions from the other free-to-air ] during that time. On the same day, ]'s largest media corporation, ] announced its acquisition of 98% equity stake in ], completing the company's ownership of all private free-to-air television stations in ]. Bukhari Che Muda was elected as the channel's new operations officer. The new owner later renamed the station to ''']''' and relaunched it with the tagline '''Dekat Di Hati''' ('''Close to the heart''' in ]) and with content geared towards a ] audience. Test transmissions resumed on Saturday, ] ] by airing ]s mostly in ], The new owner Media Prima Berhad later renamed the station to ''']''' and transmission officially resumed on Saturday, ] ].

TV9 airs its own news segment called '''Berita TV9''' (literally: '''TV9 News''') since ] ] at 20:00 pm on daily.
