Coup template, again
I think the template needs Semi-PP at this rate. I haven't got the time to handle this any more. --Minoa (talk) 03:56, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Minoa: Best wishes, I hope you're doing alright. I wanted to do some chores before responding: I restored the last version, created a template for plots and conspiracies, Misplaced Pages:Requests for page protection/Increase#Template:Coup d'état and requested the semiprotection of the template. Hopefully these changes can help to improve the situation. Please let me know if I can help in any other way. Kind regards, --NoonIcarus (talk) 00:42, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
Quick note
When bringing closure reviews to the administrator's noticeboard, it's generally good practice to let the person whose close you are appealing know that you are bringing them to the noticeboard. I've done so here for you, but please remember to do this if you appeal a closure going forward.
Happy editing!
— Red-tailed hawk (nest) 23:45, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, kind regards. Thank you very much, and I am so sorry: switching between three discussions at the same time, and with the closer saying that an appeal could be started, I forgot or took for granted that they were informed. Probably I won't need to in the near future, but I'll definitely take more care with it in the future. Once again, sorry and thanks: Best wishes! --NoonIcarus (talk) 21:25, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
WikiLeaks edit
As an act of good faith, I wanted to inform you about this edit. After reviewing WP:BLP, I believe that I presented the information in a neutral manner while sticking to the sources, though I wanted to notify you to see if you had any concerns. This message was also shared with SandyGeorgia. Thanks! WMrapids (talk) 05:16, 8 August 2023 (UTC)
- @WMrapids: Thank you kindly. In principle I think the content is alright, but it might be better off merged into another section as part of his career. Other coverage on the issue might be interesting, given that Bocarada is far from being the only journalist that investigated links between the guerrillas and the Colombian government. --NoonIcarus (talk) 00:21, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
Your draft article, Draft:Juan Pablo Peña-Rosas
Hello, NoonIcarus. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "Juan Pablo Peña-Rosas".
In accordance with our policy that Misplaced Pages is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. Dancing Devils of Yare
Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Misplaced Pages. A page you created or have recently made significant changes to, Dancing Devils of Yare, may not conform to some of Misplaced Pages's guidelines for pages, so it has been blanked and redirected to Dancing devils of Corpus Christi. Three typical reasons for this are that: (1) the article's subject appears to fail our notability guidelines; (2) the article is unsourced; or (3) the sources used in the article are unreliable. The page's history is preserved and it is possible to restore the article: If you believe that this page should remain included on Misplaced Pages or that this action was taken in error, then you may revert the edit that blanked and redirected the page.
Please see the edit summary for a more detailed rationale: Special:Diff/1171207424. Sincerely —Alalch E. 17:47, 19 August 2023 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Parque Central Complex fire
Hello! Your submission of Parque Central Complex fire at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) at your nomination's entry and respond there at your earliest convenience. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! BlueMoonset (talk) 22:58, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
Plan Ávila explanation
Can you explain the removal of this source and the removal of this information? The book from the first edit appears fine and the content removed from your second edit was easily accessible through an archive URL. WMrapids (talk) 21:16, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
- @WMrapids: Hi, kind regards. In the case of the second removal, since it happened over two years ago, I can't remember precisely, but as you well pointed out, the link was dead and I think I could not find the archived link, and RCTV's source did not mention the Pope's visit. As for Bart Jones' book, it is noticeably biased, to the point of affecting its reliability. I can provide examples of it if needed, but in the meantime I can start by providing this interview in Venezuelanalysis: Q & A With Bart Jones, Author of the New Chavez Biography "Hugo!". --NoonIcarus (talk) 09:54, 8 September 2023 (UTC)

DYK for Simón (2023 film)
On 15 September 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Simón (2023 film), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the nightclub scene in Simón used only 30 extras instead of the originally intended 250? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Simón (2023 film). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Simón (2023 film)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

ITN recognition for Román Chalbaud
On 16 September 2023, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Román Chalbaud, which you nominated and updated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. PFHLai (talk) 12:31, 16 September 2023 (UTC)
New pages patrol newsletter
Hello NoonIcarus,
Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!
October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.
PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.
Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.
Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Page Patrol Discord.
- Consider adding the project discussion page to your watchlist.
- To opt out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Category:Female Venezuelan senators
Hello, NoonIcarus,
Category redirects are created differently than article redirects. Please look at the code on this page so that the proper template can be used if you find yourself needing to create one in the future. Thank you. Liz 23:01, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Liz: Agh, I had the feeling that the redirect page looked different from what I recalled. Many thanks! I'll bear it in mind for future categories. Kind regards, --NoonIcarus (talk) 09:51, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Helen Hindpere
I removed the request due to lack of notability. The Inverse article is entirely about Disco Elysium, not about her. The EPL article only mentions her in brief, and the Pohjarannik article seems to be about someone else entirely unrelated. TarkusAB 18:39, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- @TarkusAB: That's alright, I made the request just in case more coverage about her could be found and it was deemed appropriate for an article. Thank you kindly for the notification. Best regards, --NoonIcarus (talk) 19:58, 29 September 2023 (UTC)

WP:VENRS that you cited while removing a ref from various articles (such as this) doesn't apply to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Could you please self-revert? Thanks. M.Bitton (talk) 11:20, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- @M.Bitton: Kind regards, thank you for your message. My removals were based in part in my experience in using the foreign affairs ministry as a reference in the past. I created all of Venezuela's bilateral relations articles in Spanish, where I often had to use mppre.gob.ve but would usually stumble upon mistakes for even basic facts, such as dates. Government sites in Venezuela are also often outdated, making them unreliable for data such as embassies and visa information. These articles could really benefit from independent sources. However, if you remain unconvinced, I can proceed with the self revert. Best wishes, --NoonIcarus (talk) 11:29, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- I think it would be best if you could self-revert. Best, M.Bitton (talk) 11:34, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- Done. Kind regards, NoonIcarus (talk) 11:37, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- Is there a reason why you self-reverted just one of them? M.Bitton (talk) 11:43, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- Done. Kind regards, NoonIcarus (talk) 11:37, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- I think it would be best if you could self-revert. Best, M.Bitton (talk) 11:34, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
@M.Bitton: My bad, I thought that you asked for only that specific self-revert. I would have liked if you could have waited for my response, though, or at least 24 hours before reverting: your changes have included articles about Venezuela, and you have not responded to my unreliability concerns. I can add the ministry as an entry to WP:VENRS and provide alternative references to some of the articles, but the referencing in the pages must improve. --NoonIcarus (talk) 16:29, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
- I didn't wait because I was aware of the fact that subsequent edits to the articles would have made the reversion more difficult than it has to be. Also, I honestly didn't think you'd mind. The reliability of a source depends on context and has to be judged on a case by case basis. Adding it to WP:VENRS won't make it unreliable, let alone blacklist it (unlike WP:RSN, that list is just an essay). Best, M.Bitton (talk) 23:12, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
- @M.Bitton: Many thanks for the information. While WP:VENRS is an essay, it is still a case of WP:LOCALCONSENSUS, and concerns were still raised about the references reliability. At any rate, I will try to provide alternative references in the future and continue approaching the articles in a case to case basis. Kind regards, --NoonIcarus (talk) 10:17, 8 October 2023 (UTC)

Caracas Chronicles
Not sure why you have previously criticized the source, yet you use it for an exceptional claim. Can you find a better source? WMrapids (talk) 23:39, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
- @WMrapids: I don't recall having criticized the source, maybe you're thinking of Sandy? Quite the opposite, if you take a look at Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Venezuela/Reliable and unreliable sources#Caracas Chronicles, you will confirm that I have explained the source's reliability and advocated for its use. At any rate, I have added additional references. --NoonIcarus (talk) 07:58, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

Autopatrolled right granted
Hi NoonIcarus, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.
Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Misplaced Pages's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.
Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! œ 08:20, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
- @OlEnglish: This is such a pleasant surprise, thank you so much! --NoonIcarus (talk) 21:38, 12 October 2023 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages page for CiberCuba.com
Saludos y gracias. Luis 5.224.201.100 (talk) 19:56, 23 October 2023 (UTC)

Ecured
EcuRed is perfectly valid as an WP:EL, which follows a different policy from WP:RS. Also, next time you remove thousands of references in hundreds of articles, maybe you could replace them with the sources listed in EcuRed (if any) or others, rather than leaving a mess behind. Many obscure Cuban cultural topics are pretty much only accessible online thanks to librarians from Cuba who wrote those EcuRed articles, with proper sources and all, including references to birth certificates and local publications only available in print at their libaries. Just my two cents. Neodop (talk) 02:04, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
November Articles for creation backlog drive
Hello NoonIcarus:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.
You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
Advocacy?
After seeing your placement of this image that you took in the La Salida and seeing that you were present at many Venezuelan opposition protests taking hundreds of photos, it reminded me of the WP:COI policy. Since you were involved in the protests, removed certain sources contrary to policy citing an essay you mainly created, made stonewalling edits with the typical "restoring to stable version" (misuse of "stable version" can lead to a block, especially since it was used in a possible hounding manner), creating multiple articles related to the opposition and its protest culture (Simón (2018 film), Simón (2023 film), El Politigato, Óscar Alberto Pérez, etc.) recently placed Venezuelan opposition quotes in an undue manner without proper attribution and other questionable edits, it raises questions about your purpose on the project. Your more recent edits were most concerning since you were no longer attributing and simply quoting opposition figures in a controversial article. These edits are just some examples that I have seen that may identify advocacy.
Following what is outlined on WP:COI, I read on how to handle the possible issue, which pointed me towards potential advocacy and suggesting that this may be discussed on your talk page. So this is a reminder; Misplaced Pages is not for advocacy. I've tried to be as collaborative as possible and this is not an attempt to cast aspersions, it's a friendly reminder that maybe you should take a look at how you may be editing. When performing future edits, please be careful with your bias. WMrapids (talk) 21:01, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
