Hi Ron, notice you replaced the prod here with a sources tag. Can't see how that addresses the neologism concerns outlined in the prod, or lack of cited sources. You are of course welcome to object to a prod for any reason but if you dont address the concern by "improving, copyediting, sourcing, renaming or merging the page" it's always good practice to be a little more illuminating in your edit summary. Now at AfD. Cheers, ] ] 15:27, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin '''will still be able to access the IP'''. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof, Ron Ritzman. As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released ] has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that you have little experience vandalfighting and you often don't warn user when reverting.

Thank you.
Now, from looking through your other edits, and from one of your edit summaries, I am assuming that you are using the ] spell-checker, rather than you having some bizarre hatred of all people who aren't American. It's an easy mistake to make. I use Firefox myself, and have it set to British English, and it shows all American spellings as "errors". If so, please remember not to "correct" ], or Australian English, or Canadian English, e.t.c, just because it appears wrong in your spell-checker. Speedy deletion nomination of Joe mama

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages, such as Joe mama, to Misplaced Pages. Doing so is considered vandalism and is prohibited. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges. Under section G3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, the page has been nominated for deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

New administrator activity requirement

The administrator policy has been updated with new activity requirements following a successful Request for Comment.

Beginning January 1, 2023, administrators who meet one or both of the following criteria may be desysopped for inactivity if they have:

 1. Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR
 2. Made fewer than 100 edits over a 60-month period

Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.
