], you blocked Jim for ]. Why? Surely, his reverting was justified. He's a patroller. ] does have exemptions. *Props to WBG for voicing out in an attempt to stop the ] but Jim is an experienced editor who has been reverting vandalism for over 7 years and blocking him isn't the best way to resolve things. Hi Jim1138, I've unblocked you because this situation spiraled out of control a little, and I'm hoping it gets back on track. I'll unblock both of you, and maybe we can reboot. While I'm not sure a block was needed here, in this case I think reverting was too much; newbies need a little room to learn, and in the end they were providing a source in their edit summary. Hope you either come back right away, or take some time off, whichever works out best for you, but you're valued here by many people, so I'm hoping you come back eventually. --] (]) 17:57, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

Note for people watching: This isn't a rogue unblock, the blocking admin said somewhere (I think on Ritchie's talk page) that someone could unblock if they thought it best. --] (]) 17:58, 22 November 2018 (UTC)
Hi.
*{{U|Jauerback}} noted on Ritchie's talk page they'd be fine with an unblock if it was deemed to harsh for a newbie, so that would be the ''other'' editor, but fair's fair, and I certainly agree with the unblock. Even if somebody did think it was a rogue unblock (I don't), it's got consensus now so it couldn't be anyway. To be honest, I expected to have a conversation about ten minutes after the block along the lines of "Hey, I got carried away, can be unblocked?" "Sure, unblocked. As you were", which I think happened last time.
You're accusing the wrong guy for edit warring, please pay better attention next time.

Jim, I think there's a pretty broad consensus you do a very important job for the project. I have seen first hand some of the really nasty vandalism that's been cropping up recently, and seen you getting to it quickly and without fuss. I think there's a general feeling that we all want you to stay. Would you reconsider? ] ] ] 20:22, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

:I have Jim's email and have been in discussion with him about matters, including the block. He's disabled the option for Wikipedians to email him, but I will let him know that editors appreciate his work and want him to return. So far regarding the block, I've only noted to him that I hope he returns. I haven't yet responded to his latest reply, which, in part, states he is not willing to come back. But he might change his mind. As we know, it's often that editors change their minds about retiring and then return. ] (]) 01:20, 24 November 2018 (UTC)

I have documented proof that what I edited was approved by a court of law. The persons page I was editing continuously lies about a relationship that never happened for the purpose of reckless attachment. Its all a media ploy. Zero factual evidence supporting her claim. So, moving forward, as she adds her lies for the media, I have the right to delete them. Also, there is no difference between her posting fake marriage information that NEVER happened, and the links of bad press describing her personal life character of being a snake and media whore. Slander is not something taking lightly on the internet in 2012, almost 2013 and she is 100% slanderous. {{unsigned|99.112.64.32}}

There are a lot of wrong quotations on the article Balija, which is a major Telugu speaking Hindu caste. Books written by authors belonging to other castes, other religions sometimes would be insulting to Balija caste. So when I removed some quotations, lines on Balija caste page, there was a reason since these references were derogative to my Balija caste / community. For a Hindu more then religion, the Caste to which one belongs is more important since the caste/community tag adds prestige. Please kindly understand our sensitivities. {{unsigned|122.178.250.71}}

Hey. You reverted my edits, because according to you, they are "not explained". :: No, but the edits concern the Julia Wood material, which is discussed on the talk page. Maybe I should have mentioned that also in the edit summaries. The problem is that 1) the sectio is too long, longer than all of the rest of the article and the claimed sources have not been found. I put a "main"-tag to link two other wikipedia articles on gender and comunication. Also in the last 5 I think I took out some of the non-sourced claims in the Gender role theory section that had been marked as unsourced years ago. However, there also I put a "main" to another article that talks more in detail about the issue. ] (]) 08:35, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

The article was very bad and needed a lot of work, however it is my opinion that 88s recent edits have made it even worse. For just a few small examples of numerous problems, a study is mentioned and sourced at the end of the paragraph, however that did not stop 88 from adding (more) "citation needed" tags. Or, for instance, this wording:

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available ].

:Hey that editor you mention is me. If you have some ideas concerning the article, come participate in the discussion page. A cn-tag is in place in my opinion, if that specific claim is not in the source article give in later on (with another sentecne). Otherwise I'd use "failder verfication". The part about socialization, I'd say is better (except for the typo verb infliction on "refers"). The original claims to know how socialization works, without sourcing that claim. : Also, just because you don't like some wording on one paragraph doesn't give you the right to revert 20K of stuff without discussion. I had also added alot of content, you know. I think that considering the above passage the best thing to do is to main-link the socialization article, and '''concisely''' discus it's relevance in the sociology of gender, so as to minimize redundancy. You should discuss this stuff on the articles discussion page so that the other editors could participate and give you feedback on your ideas.] (]) 20:04, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
::Gandydancer is not the one who reverted you. I am. You keep talking about "discussion on the talk page" as if there is ] for your mass changes; there isn't. There's mostly you ranting on the talk page. And I had already checked it before reverting you. Your editing has indeed made the article worse -- it's a citation-needed tag mess, for example. Adding a lot of cn tags instead of one big tag telling readers that the section is unsourced or needs additional sources is ludicrous! You also need to read up on what ] is. Reverting you, restoring the article to the ] version is not vandalism.

== From US-SAN ==
Hi Jim1138. Thank you for taking the time to look over my recent change to the ] page. I do believe the external link to openclassical (https://www.openclassical.com/composer/Nikolai_Medtner) is very relevant, and should be restored. Please allow me to elaborate on this. openclassical's mission is the organization of classical music, of which there is over 1,000 years of highly varied and remarkable music. More than this, it also organizes existing internet media, providing a simple gateway for a visitor to browse and discover classical music. It is also free to use.

{| style="background-color: #fdffe7; border: 1px solid #fceb92;"
In the case of Medtner, openclassical has cataloged and organized his complete works, providing sorting and filtering tools, and the ability to actually listen to most of his works while browsing the score. Medtner's page has received the highest commendation from the president of the International Medtner Foundation.
|rowspan="2" style="vertical-align: middle; padding: 5px;" | ]

|style="font-size: x-large; padding: 3px 3px 0 3px; height: 1.5em;" | '''You are missed'''
For someone visiting Misplaced Pages wishing to learn more about Medtner, I think this is a very relevant external link. Can you please restore the link?

Thanks. ] (]) 15:17, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
:A few issues with adding links like this. The article is about Nikolai Medtner, not about supplying links to his music. See ] If the link supported the page by allowing access to information on Medtner, it might be acceptable. The second is that openclassical.com supplies access only to Amazon.com. This would open up the article to other purveyors of Medtner's music. Not a good idea. And, the links to amazon.com supplies more information then is needed to link to the specific music item, suggesting a profit motive; i.e. ]. I would advise against adding this and similar links to Wikipeida. Please add new talk to the bottom of the talk page where people expect it. It's likely to be missed if put elsewhere. Thank you ] (]) 18:00, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

::Thanks for your comments. Please let me outline my perspective on this. I think openclassical has related goals to the IMSLP project, which is also an external link from Medtner's page, and most other composers. IMSLP does not provide much information about the composer, but focuses on his musical works (like openclassical, it links to Medtner's Wiki page for those wanting to read his biography). IMSLP also has amazon integration.

::I think that someone wanting to learn more about Medtner would definitely want to learn more about his music - without his music, most likely there would be no Medtner Misplaced Pages page. As illustration of this, I note that around half of the text on his Misplaced Pages page discusses his music.

::I would also like to note that, like IMSLP, our Amazon integration does not suggest affiliation with Amazon, nor is the visitor forced to use it. openclassical is a free resource, whose mission is to make the discovery and hearing of great classical music easier.

::Does this address your concerns? I am very happy to discuss, and make changes to openclassical if necessary, since first of all I understand it is a new project (we launched it this year), and I am convinced that many people will find it very useful when learning about classical music.

::Thanks ] (]) 02:08, 7 December 2012 (UTC)

I did not realize I made a personal attack. I'm new to Misplaced Pages and I mean no harm. I simply did not know how to handle another user waging an edit war on my edits. I'm the unregistered cat who ended up involved in the Pearl High School Shooting edits tonight. Many people are going to be searching for information on the Pearl Highschool Shooting due to the recent tragic events in Connecticut and the political issues they're bringing up. I'm not a wiki-user regularly and I probably did much more harm than good before you came along, but now I feel like something got accomplished at least 'til someone starts linking random .txt manifestos again. But you also said "Your other sources on that page: social media (youtube) is not considered a reliable source and should be avoided. Hey there Jim, I tried to edit the certification for the song (http://en.wikipedia.org/Little_Talks) in Sweden but I don't know how to edit the citations. Hello Jim1138,
Hi, Jim!

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged ] for deletion, because it seems to be ], rather than an encyclopedia article.
I made those changes because I followed the links to the Citations, and found nothing in the sources that indicated her ancestry with complete accuracy.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can <span class="plainlinks">''''''</span>, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
One citation pointed to a death record which indicated the residence of a relative (Italy) and the other was an article in which she mentioned "She grew up in a large Italian home". I chose to lift that sentence verbatim and replace the less-than-accurate original with that.

You can leave a note on ] if you have questions. Thanks!
I hope that isn't too much of a problem! I would revert the changes you made, but I think that would be disrespectful of me. If you are satisfied with my explanation, just let me know and I'll revert them immediately.

@Jauerback, Ritchie333, and Winged Blades of Godric: Thanks! I needed an excuse. Bye! Jim1138 talk 11:38, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

Just saying

Hey, Jim. Take a break and revisit your decision. Ping me if you need to vent. Tiderolls 16:19, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

Agree, your anti-vandal efforts are highly valued by a number of editors including me, regards Atlantic306 (talk) 18:30, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

Jauerback, you blocked Jim for WP:3RR. Why? Surely, his reverting was justified. He's a patroller. WP:3RR does have exemptions. And regardless, WP:Common sense should also be considered, as it was in this case where Fish and karate semi-protected an article after I repeatedly reverted an IP who continued to add unsourced material after I advised the IP to stop and with the IP having no intent to discuss, and after I requested at WP:Requests for page protection that the article be semi-protected. That is not a case where I should have been blocked. Jim is a very valuable patroller. He often takes the time to address problematic concerns. He doesn't blindly revert. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 19:13, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

  • Props to WBG for voicing out in an attempt to stop the bias against new editors but Jim is an experienced editor who has been reverting vandalism for over 7 years and blocking him isn't the best way to resolve things. Sure, he screwed up this one by edit warring but the block was too harsh because he was only "removing unsourced content" and the new user kept testing his patience. Please unblock him and let it be done. Flooded with them hundreds 08:04, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

Unblocked

Hi Jim1138, I've unblocked you because this situation spiraled out of control a little, and I'm hoping it gets back on track. I'll unblock both of you, and maybe we can reboot. While I'm not sure a block was needed here, in this case I think reverting was too much; newbies need a little room to learn, and in the end they were providing a source in their edit summary. Hope you either come back right away, or take some time off, whichever works out best for you, but you're valued here by many people, so I'm hoping you come back eventually. --Floquenbeam (talk) 17:57, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

Note for people watching: This isn't a rogue unblock, the blocking admin said somewhere (I think on Ritchie's talk page) that someone could unblock if they thought it best. --Floquenbeam (talk) 17:58, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

  • Jauerback noted on Ritchie's talk page they'd be fine with an unblock if it was deemed to harsh for a newbie, so that would be the other editor, but fair's fair, and I certainly agree with the unblock. I think Jauerback, whom I know as eminently reasonable and collegial, agrees. Thanks Floq. Jim, hope to see you here again. If not: thanks for the work you've done for our beautiful project, and fare thee well. Drmies (talk) 18:02, 22 November 2018 (UTC)
...oh... I misread that a little, sorry. I guess it was a rogue unblock after all. Wasn't intended to be. --Floquenbeam (talk) 18:04, 22 November 2018 (UTC)
"You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late."-- Jezebel's Ponyo 18:43, 22 November 2018 (UTC)
@Ponyo: great quote. Jim, hope you come back. I'm one of the ones who value you. Doug Weller talk 18:47, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

Jim, I think there's a pretty broad consensus you do a very important job for the project. I have seen first hand some of the really nasty vandalism that's been cropping up recently, and seen you getting to it quickly and without fuss. I think there's a general feeling that we all want you to stay. Would you reconsider? Ritchie333 20:22, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

I have Jim's email and have been in discussion with him about matters, including the block. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 01:20, 24 November 2018 (UTC)

I also hope that you return, Jim. In any case, thank you very much for your contributions. —PaleoNeonate10:45, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, Jim1138. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Tathacharya, a page you created, has not been edited in at least 5 months. Draft space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for article space.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion under CSD G13. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it. You may request userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available here.

Thank you for your submission to Misplaced Pages. Bot0612 (talk) 08:02, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Tathacharya

Hello, Jim1138. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Tathacharya".

In accordance with our policy that Misplaced Pages is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Misplaced Pages, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 08:21, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Naya Legend of the Golden Dolphin

Hello Jim1138,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Naya Legend of the Golden Dolphin for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

(talk page stalker) @Mikehawk10: doesn't look like Jim edits anymore, but I went ahead and restored the redirect that was present before that SPA turned the page into a promo. I'm sure an upcoming movie featuring actors like Gerard Butler and Quvenzhané Wallis will eventually be notable, but a redirect is appropriate for now. AlexEng 06:59, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
