'''Princess Ruto''' is a character in the ] game ]. She is the daughter of King Zora and the Princess of the ] race. She has a rather bossy streak. When Link first meets her when they are both ten years old, she has been eaten by Jabu-Jabu, the Zora's fish-god who she is charge of caring for. After Link rescues her, she rewards him with the Spiritual Stone of Water. She, however, calls it the Zora's Engagement Ring and claims that Link must one day marry her. After Ganondorf's takeover of Hyrule, when ] is frozen over, Ruto is rescued by Sheik from beneath the ice and taken to the Water Temple. Link meets her there as an adult where she informs him that their engagement is broken. Ruto claims she recognizes that saving Hyrule is more important that marriage.
