Greetings and felicitations. Would someone please be so kind as to add a plural option for the <tt>postal_code</tt> field? I checked both the documentation and the talk page archives and can't find one, nor does making the field plural ("postal_codes") currently work. (Please be so kind as to {{Tlx|ping}} me when you respond.) —05:30, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

This template currently produces the text {{!xt|Municipality of Switzerland}} under the subject name in the resulting infobox. That is not how we express such a term in English. It should read {{xt|Swiss municipality}} or maybe {{xt|Municipality in Switzerland}}. "Municipality of Switzerland" is how you would refer to a municipality named Switzerland. ] ] 18:25, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
:] '''Done'''<!-- Template:ETp -->. This might be controversial. The article is called "Municipalities of Switzerland", but it seems like more of a formal term. In English, we definitely say "X is a city/town/municipality/county in Y". If the in/of distinction is controversial, it would probably be best to simply write "Municipality", since the country name appears in the first line of data (after the images and maps).

Greetings and felicitations. Would please make the "iso-code-region" visible, as it is in most other country and first level subdivision infoboxes? ::Thanks, Jonesey. Yes, the plural makes complete sense in the article title. But the singular here jumped out at me as odd; I'm guessing it was formulated by a non-native speaker. And I agree that simply "Municipality" would work as well. Just curious: Why did you prefer the "in" solution to "Swiss municipality"? ] ] 23:22, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
:::After doing a bit of poking around and reading the documentation (linked above), I prefer no nationality at all (i.e. just "Municipality"). I'm happy to give others a chance to have their say before changing it, though. – ] (]) 23:30, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

"Manual population" category false positives

Articles including Bern are being placed in Category:Pages using infobox Switzerland municipality with manual population even though they are getting data from Wikidata a template, {{Swiss populations NC}}, and its allied templates. Pinging ProcrastinatingReader, who added this check and category. – Jonesey95 (talk) 22:31, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

The category is passed whenever |population=/|populationof= is used. If you omit the parameter set then it autofills it from the same template. There's no way the infobox can tell whether its input comes from a template. * Pppery * it has begun... 03:19, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

Merge or replacement?

I proposed merge or replacement for {{Infobox Switzerland municipality}} with {{Infobox settlement}}. Unlike other infoboxes of cities, villages, and municipalities, have their own native names in other languages for {{Infobox settlement}}. 181.39.48.120 (talk) 06:35, 29 September 2024 (UTC)

This template is already a wrapper for Infobox settlement. It has some custom features that probably would not be welcome in infobox settlement. Are you proposing that those features be eliminated? Please make a specific proposal, or create a demonstration page that shows infobox settlement being used for a settlement that currently uses this template's custom features. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:14, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
See this and this for Geneva and Zurich by using {{Native name}} is placed on |subject_name = parameter. 170.83.82.10 (talk) 10:37, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
