Hi, the article link of Udayan Bose on google leads straight to ], which I created in error and you, rightly so, deleted it. Thank you for that. But how do we now change the link of the article on google so that it actually leads to the article rather than the deleted page. I made a small effort a while back to push up the quality of various Stub and Start class articles where I could, and made sure there were no tagged articles that were missing the <code>importance</code> parameter. It would be nicer if that number of unassessed articles continued to stay low or at zero. Keeping it tidy as you go is easier than a big cleanup later and chance are I am not going to spend much/any time editing Star Trek articles ... at least not until the next pandemic. -- ] (]) 00:16, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

My understanding is that sorting should be by full name (] says {{tq|Spell out abbreviations and characters used in place of words}}). While it doesn't matter all that much, still, when I go to the effort to do it properly rather than just going with the sloppier title-derived version, it irks a little to have that version implemented anyways. The link you mentioned doesn't actually talk about personal names (Mr. Bean is the title of a show); so I'm now not sure which is correct. ::VIAF just aggregates info from its components AFAIK—it clusters authorities automatically without editorial input from humans. LC is only as good as the sources it cites and should probably be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. I've seen LC authorities that cite Ancestry.com and FamilySearch, both of which are not accepted at ]. I think the best approach is to track down the underlying data cited in LCCN and cite whatever that source is, so long as it's reliable. ] (]) (]) 22:53, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
::Pretty much the same as above. The only real additional thing however is that while Ancestry.com isnt in itself reliable, a lot of the information sourced from it would be. Census records etc. So site those instead. Basically site the source of the info in the database when you can identify it, not the database itself. I appreciate you thinking of me but don't think I am the right person for the new page patrol; I'm happier cleaning and tidying up articles after discussions have settled down. I have had times where I worked on certain articles and then within an hour they have been deleted, which defeats the purpose of the work I did on them. In these cases, there was no indication of problems (tags in the articles themselves would have helped); only after I looked at the history or the talk page did I realize why they were deleted. I've been going through the new pages queue and have noticed an inordinate number of ||more cats|| templates being tagged by you, including some on pages with four or five or more categories already listed. Please stop overtagging this tag, it is a pain in the ass having to go back and remove inapplicable tags. Udayan Bose article link on google

Hi, the article link of Udayan Bose on google leads straight to Rvsingh12/sandbox, which I created in error and you, rightly so, deleted it. Thank you for that. But how do we now change the link of the article on google so that it actually leads to the article rather than the deleted page. The URL currently on google of the Udayan Bose article is https://en.wikipedia.org/Rvsingh12/sandbox. Is there to fix this and please can you ? Thank you very much Rvsingh12 (talk)

Disambiguations

Hi! As for your recent edits adding biography tags to disambiguation pages (John Spencer, Li Wenliang, Ken Hermann (disambiguation), etc.), I don't believe that DAB pages have ever been categorized as biographies or tagged with biography tags. I haven't been able to find anything in the MOS about adding or not adding bio tags to talk pages either way (I looked in the WP Biography and WP Disambiguation project pages and their talk pages and archives). I will say that there are over 8,000 articles listed under https://en.wikipedia.org/Category:Disambig-Class_biography_articles so I think it's permissible. If you can find other evidence or I missed something, please let me know.--FeanorStar7 (talk) 02:53, 18 February 2024 (UTC)

Election results: In our December 2023 coordinator election, Zippybonzo stepped down as coordinator; we thank them for their service. Incumbents Dhtwiki and Miniapolis were reelected coordinators, and Wracking was newly elected coordinator, to serve through 30 June. Nominations for our mid-year Election of Coordinators will open on 1 June (UTC).

Drive: 46 editors signed up for our January Backlog Elimination Drive, 32 of whom claimed at least one copy-edit. Between them, they copy-edited 289 articles totaling 626,729 words. Barnstars awarded are here.

Blitz: 23 editors signed up for our February Copy Editing Blitz. 18 claimed at least one copy-edit and between them, they copy-edited 100,293 words in 32 articles. Barnstars awarded are here.

Election news: Wanted: new Guild coordinators! If you value and enjoy the GOCE, why not help out behind the scenes? Nominations for our mid-year coordinator election are now open until 23:59 on 15 June (UTC). Self-nominations are welcome. Voting commences at 00:01 on 16 June and continues until 23:50 on 30 June. Results will be announced at the election page.

Blitz: Nine of the fourteen editors who signed up for the April 2024 Copy Editing Blitz copy edited at least one article. Between them, they copy edited 55,853 words comprising twenty articles. Barnstars awarded are available here.

Drive: 58 editors signed up for our May 2024 Backlog Elimination Drive and 33 of those completed at least one copy edit. 251 articles and 475,952 words were copy edited. Barnstars awarded are here.

Blitz: Our June 2024 Copy Editing Blitz will begin on 16 June and finish on 22 June. Barnstars awarded will be posted here.

Article Roberto Lückert León

I apologize for my outburst in that article's Talk page. I had moronically forgotten that my edit was not exactly a new article, and that the rating was therefore for the article as it was before my edit. And it was quite justified for that pathetic little say-nothing single paragraph, of course. Anyway, perhaps somebody would like to rate the article again. I think it's quite a bit better now. Election news: Project coordinators play an important role in our WikiProject. Following the mid-year Election of Coordinators, we welcomed Mox Eden to the coordinator team. Dhtwiki remains as Lead Coordinator, and Miniapolis and Wracking returned as assistant coordinators. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
