Hi (sorry am new to this) - there is a page that is an "orphan" - https://en.wikipedia.org/Garmin_BaseCamp - that I think would be correct to link from this page? Would e.g. be appropriate after the sentence: "In April 2008, Garmin launched Garmin Mobile PC, a GPS navigation software program for laptop PCs and other computers, based on the Microsoft Windows operating system, now discontinued." — Preceding ] comment added by ] (]) 15:04, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
Garmin has many differnt types of maps. There should be a page on all these maps and the latest updated versions.
The same should be done with maps of TomTom, Navman, Magellin, Naviq, etc

What's going on in that section? Before I started editing, it was written in very enthusiastic promotional tone and I suspect maybe someone who is closely connected or a big fan of these devices wrote this section. ] (]) 13:48, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

== Founding History ==

Under "acquisitions", add line: "In 2011, Garmin acquired Arizona-based dog-training equipment company Tri-Tronics® Inc as a wholly owned subsidiary (https://www.garmin.com/en-US/newsroom/press-release/corporate/2011-garmin-acquires-tri-tronics-inc-leader-in-electronic-dog-training-equipment/ can be used as the source)
I came here looking for info on the name "Garmin", eventually finding it elsewhere (a composition of the founders' first names Gary and Min), so I added a reference to this. Still, the founding part remains a bit vague. The current state of the article mentions the company originally being founded as "ProNav". I have been searching the web a bit, and there seems to have been some copyright troubles here versus someone owning the name "NavPro", which then led to the renaming into the safe "Garmin" around 1991. However, I cannot find a reliable source for this, it is all blog and forum posts, or generated pages on sites that collect company data, or the Garmin Wikia page (http://garmin.wikia.com/Garmin), which may not be official. Does anyone have a good source on how Garmin came to be? ] (]) 10:22, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

Under "Dog tracking and training", change to: Garmin entered the dog tracking market in 2007 with the Astro® GPS dog tracking system (https://www.garmin.com/en-US/newsroom/press-release/outdoor/2008-garmin-introduces-new-and-improved-astro-gps-dog-tracking-collar/ can be used as the source) and now produces several lines of dog training e-collars and tracking equipment, including under the Astro®, Alpha®, Sport® and Pro® brands (no new citations should be needed).
==eTrex hacking==

I was wondering whether other software can be put on the eTrex 10; could be useful for people that just want to show the current GPS location (longitude, latitude) and no (regional) maps. See http://etrex.webz.cz/points.html

Linking to BaseCamp

Hi (sorry am new to this) - there is a page that is an "orphan" - https://en.wikipedia.org/Garmin_BaseCamp - that I think would be correct to link from this page? Would e.g. be appropriate after the sentence: "In April 2008, Garmin launched Garmin Mobile PC, a GPS navigation software program for laptop PCs and other computers, based on the Microsoft Windows operating system, now discontinued." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.100.184.216 (talk) 15:04, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

We would need a source indicating that including that text here is WP:DUE... and given that that article currently has no third-party sources, it's an open question whether that page should even be there, much less linked to from here. -- Nat Gertler (talk) 20:32, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
