It is not clear what Orion did to anger Artemis. According to one version, he tried to rape one of her handmaidens and according to another, he may have tried to force himself on Artemis herself. Of all the goddesses, however, Artemis may have been the worst one to cross. She was the goddess of the hunt and the goddess of revenge, and she was ruthless and violent once angered. She became furious with Orion's impudence and commanded a giant scorpion to attack him. The scorpion stung Orion and killed him. Artemis placed her servant in the heavens as a reward for doing her bidding.

It is believed that physically those who born under the jurisdiction of Scorpio are usually of a robust physical nature and possessed of a reserved and undemonstrative dignity of appearance.
They tend to possess rather sharp features with voices that are often very shrill and penetrating...although the tone can be deep, strong and compelling. These are individuals who exercise self-control and reserve in their speech, often displaying a rare poise. The frame can range from thickset to thin and wiry, but is usually somewhat compacted and firm. Generally, Scorpio natives possess powerful physiques.
The forehead and eyebrows are usually quite heavy and there may be a hint of the sardonic in the expression. In general, the hair of Scorpio persons is dark, thick and somewhat coarse, tending to curls or a at least a degree of waviness.
The nose is frequently perceived to be Roman, but may be either aquiline or concave, tending to fullness at the tip. Their eyes are usually very magnetic, dark and round. It is customary for those governed by this Sign to present an attractive and strikingly tidy appearance. There is usually not a hair out of place, the nails will be well cared for and they will be both health and physique conscious. Scorpio (♏︎) (Ancient Greek: Σκορπιός, romanized: Skorpiós, Latin for "scorpion") is the eighth astrological sign in the zodiac, originating from the constellation of Scorpius. It spans 210–240° ecliptic longitude. Under the tropical zodiac (most commonly used in Western astrology), the Sun transits this sign on average from October 23 to November 21. Depending on which zodiac system one uses, someone born under the influence of Scorpio may be called a Scorpio or a Scorpionic.

Associations

Scorpio is one of the water signs, the others being Cancer and Pisces. It is a fixed, negative sign. According to The Astrology Bible, Scorpio's colors are deep red, maroon, black, and brown.

Myth

According to Greek mythology, its representation as a scorpion is related to the Greek legend of Orion and how a scorpion stung him to death (said to be why Orion sets as Scorpius rises in the sky). Another Greek myth recounts how a scorpion caused the horses of the Sun to bolt, when they were being driven by the inexperienced youth, Phaethon.
