Sorry about that revert. : Sure; if ordinary people can't understand it, we have work to do, is my feeling. I have an idea: I translated the sentence you were gagging on (on Talk: History of the Internet). If you wander around that set of pages, and post similar questions on Talk: pages, I can answer them. In return, once you have asked enough questions to really understand things, if you would then help ''future'' readers by inserting appropriate explanations, etc that would really make it worthwhile.

Hey Fishal. I saw your work on the ] page, and I appreciated your attention to re-writing POV in objective terms. I just added a section called "Consensus and Division" under the LCMS history. I replaced the section previously titled "Battle for Biblical inerrancy" (which had no text under it), because it seemed that some of the disputes were over precisely this matter. However, I wondered if you could take a look at my addition. I'm not an LCMS expert, and although I did my best and did a lot of internet research, I thought it would be useful if some of the more objective writers from the LCMS page would vet my addition. Thanks! ]

Second: I saw your year-old comment about the not-exactly-official flag at ]. ] mentioned further up on that page that it doesn't seem quite right to use the U.S. State infobox for an article about a theoretical state. I dropped a message at ] asking if there had been any discussion about that use of the infobox. I'd like to see this whole idea settled, so maybe that's a start. ] | ] 03:20, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for your comments, Fishal! Yeah, I agree, the terms for the two "camps" are tricky, and probably need to be tweaked. For one thing, although the more conservative wing calls the more moderate wing "liberals," I think this label would be confusing for Misplaced Pages readers. The reason is that, while the conservatives may find them liberal, they aren't in any way "liberal" in the sense that we'd use the word in broader American cultural, political, and religious life -- in fact, most in the LCMS "liberal" wing would be quite conservative in the broader context. And then there's the problem you point out with the name for the more conservative wing, which styles itself (alone) as "confessionals." This clashes with the description of the entire Synod as "confessional," AND it might be a term that the more moderate/liberal wing would disgree with. If you think of better terms, please don't hesitate to add them. ] 20:22, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)
P.S. You might be interested in the long-ish article I wrote on ], although it still needs some work, esp the "Legacy" section, and perhaps on the theological issues in question (on which I'm no expert). I see you worked on that one before I got there.

First: Dang! I don't normally run into editors who have been here longer than I have. May I offer you some Ibuprofen for your lower-back pain?
Second: I saw your year-old comment about the not-exactly-official flag at Talk:Lincoln_(proposed_Northwestern_state)#Flag. User:Dennis Bratland mentioned further up on that page that it doesn't seem quite right to use the U.S. State infobox for an article about a theoretical state. I dropped a message at the infobox talk page asking if there had been any discussion about that use of the infobox. I'd like to see this whole idea settled, so maybe that's a start. ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message
Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Misplaced Pages arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}}

Chicago Meetup for Wikidata Day
Hello! This is User:Luiysia (IRL name is Kelly). My main interests are fashion, music, literature, and history. I am fairly new to Misplaced Pages editing and I found that there has been very little activity from the Chicago Misplaced Pages user group since 2020.
I'd like to host a casual meetup in Chicago to celebrate Wikidata Day on Saturday, October 26.
Proposed location is Engine Coffee in the Wicker Park/West Town area, at 11AM.
Here is the official meetup page, where you can add yourself as an attendee.
(If you would prefer not to see messages like this, go ahead and take yourself off this list.)
Hope to see you all there!
