* '''If you leave a message for me''': I will generally respond here. Either add this page to your ] or ask me to notify you of a response on your talk page. | |||
---- | |||
* '''If I leave a message for you''': Please respond on '''your talk page'''. I will add it to my watchlist, so you don't need to notify me, unless I don't respond when a response is expected (normally within 24 hours, unless the issue is urgent). This helps keep discussions in one place and makes them easier to read and follow. | |||
---- | |||
* '''If you are discussing an article''': I would prefer to use that article's talk page, unless you'd rather not to use that page for some reason, such as commenting on a particular user's edits in semi-privacy. | |||
---- | |||
* I generally do not bother to leave messages on IP talk pages, since many IPs are dynamic, and there's no way to know the difference on the first edits. The user will more than likely never even know they received a message, so it's just a waste of time better spent on actual editing. (This is one example of how not having mandatory registration does a great disservice to IP editors. Becasue of this, IP editors really ARE second-class users, made so by Jim Wales' own non-negotiable (thus dictatorial) policies.) The main exception is vandalism warnings, which are required before most admins will block or ban for vandalism. | |||
---- | |||
* Please limit this page to discussions not related to any particular article, those covering a wide range of articles/topics, or personal comments. | |||
---- | |||
* '''Note: I reserve the right to decline or withdraw from a situation that is escalating or uncomfortable, ''without giving a reason'', or to take further action through permissable means.''' (See ].) This may include removing your messages from my talk page. If I've done so, please DO NOT re-add the same meassage, or follow-up with another - They will be removed again, mostly likely with a edit summary about your obnoxiousness in continually hounding me. If you then follow this up wth an ANI report, you're proving that you are a ], and I won't respond there either, per ]. I may, however, file my own ANI report against your ], which you may define as "public scolding", but is in reality wiki-lynching. | |||
---- | |||
;My key points to remember about editing Misplaced Pages: | |||
*'''Telepathy doesn't work over the internet.''' Please use edit summaries. | |||
*'''Unexplained edits may be indistiguishable from vandalism.''' Please use edit summaries. | |||
*'''Anoyone can claim to be anyone on WP.''' Use Reliable, verifiable published sources. | |||
*'''"Assume Good Faith" applies to motive, not content.''' I correct mistakes or errors when I see them, regardless of who made them - AGF means I don't warn for vandalism unless it's quite obvious that it was vandalism. | |||
*'''"Don't bite the Newbies" does't mean it's OK to "eat the oldies"!''' Don't treat me worse than you would treat vandal if, in your opinion, you think I may have bit a newbie. I'm not the bad guy here either, and I won't be treated like one. I will fight back. | |||
*'''Wikipeida is supposed to be an encyclopeida, not a social club.''' While treating people with fairness and respect is important, it's not the only factor. Let's keep the "main thing" the "main thing". | |||

A police state is being set up in the story, and the parallels to the Bush Administration's anti-terrorism policies ware wide open. Will these same critics protest if such parallels can be drawn? Evening BilCat. A little while ago you left me a note on silhouettes, suggesting they should not be thumbs, but sized at 300px. 300px is fine, but how to do this with a caption? I could use thumb with a forced 300px, or (I think) frame with 300px. Is there a preference or alternative? Certainly Image:xxxx.jpg|right|300px|Caption does not produce the caption. A caption is often vital with the silhouette in the specs section, for the latter may specify a Foo Mk.XX, whereas the silhouette is a Mk. XVI. Any thoughts?] (]) 17:47, 6 November 2009 (UTC) | |||

Thanks for tweaking the wording. Long words with specific meanings are great, as long as the meaning is actually appropriate. | |||

Sikorsky S-72
If it’s not proper to link the Sikorsky S-72’s emergency extraction system to ejection seat, a brief explanation of the difference on the page would be nice. RickyCourtney (talk) 03:50, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
Oh this is rather good ...
So nicely put! Cheers DBaK (talk) 10:56, 16 May 2024 (UTC)

Happy First Edit Day!
Happy First Edit Day! Hi BilCat! On behalf of the Birthday Committee, I'd like to wish you a very happy anniversary of the day you made your first edit and became a Wikipedian! The Herald (Benison) (talk) 06:34, 20 August 2024 (UTC) |

Looks like that IP has been blocked. BTW, thanks for the thanks, and welcome back. Hope you can stay. BC talk to me 22:31, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
- No problem. I'm still mostly retired, but I'm watchlisting close to a thousand pages. I had nearly 30,000 when I retired last year. BilCat (talk) 09:26, 14 September 2024 (UTC)

Invitation to participate in a research
Hello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Misplaced Pages, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind Regards,

B-2 Spirit
I could not find a source that called it the "Stealth Bomber" instead of the B-2 Spirit as a name, rather than a descriptor.
Do you know what source referred to it as such, especially capitalized? FinnSoThin (talk) 23:34, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
- I searched for "B-2 stealth bomber", and found many mentions, both capitalized and not, from a wide variety of sources. But this is better discussed on the article's talk page so that others can participate. BilCat (talk) 00:18, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
"Redirected here"
Hey Bill - just noting that ~~its Northrop Grumman Model 400 that redirects to T-X program, not Scaled Composites Model 400 Swift which, as an aircraft that was actually built and flown, really should have its own page already! - The Bushranger One ping only 08:20, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- HUh, how did I miss that the latter did redirect? Bah, I need more caffiene! - The Bushranger One ping only 08:21, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Because I just created it, and tagged it as a Redirect with Possibilities. I wish we could still link those, but that seems to be the way things are done now. Red links are no longer considered a good thing like they used to be, at least in practice. BilCat (talk) 08:40, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- And yeah, we should have an article on it, but I'm not sure it would survive an AFD. That's the was things go now too. Misplaced Pages's been around long enough, and is many people's first stop for info. I think it high time we relaxed notability to include local only sources. BilCat (talk) 08:46, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure it would, if only I had the time to scratch up the sources. It does seem a lot of grognards have too much time on their hands and consider GNG to be less "general" and more "strict" though! - The Bushranger One ping only 08:49, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yup. I'm mostly active again on American aircraft articles, but still semi-retired on the rest of Misplaced Pages. Still too many stupid things going on Misplaced Pages for me to unretire completely. BilCat (talk) 08:54, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
- hey bil glad to see your semi back best regards, Paytonisboss (talk) 06:28, 15 November 2024 (UTC)

GE90
I just changed some of the info to be more consistent with the Boeing 777. For instance the 777-300 was never ordered with the GE90, so that combination was never certified with the FAA. Also, the production 777F is often more specifically referred to as the 777-200LRF, in order to distinguish it from the 777-300ERSF conversion. 24.206.65.142 (talk) 03:27, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
