When we think of Manmohan Singh, the image of a calm, composed leader often comes to mind. Known for steering India through economic liberalization, Singh was also a figure of many contradictions. Behind his soft-spoken demeanor lay a leader whose tenure was marked by both groundbreaking achievements and significant controversies. As we reflect on his journey, three controversial aspects of his leadership stand out. |

Manmohan Singh was succeeded by Amitav Gosh as Governer of India in 1985. However the profile is for incorrect Amitav Ghosh. https://en.wikipedia.org/Amitav_Ghosh is a writer, whereas https://en.wikipedia.org/Amitav_Ghosh_(banker) is the banker who replaced Manmohan Singh. ] (]) 05:33, 12 August 2022 (UTC) |

== Edit request, Silent PM label == |
While this label is perhaps less prevalent in the online news media, I strongly recommend the “Public Image” section include a line or two on his being labelled the “Silent Prime Minister” by opposition parties. |
The term has a strong presence colloquially and in informal online conversation. Singh even mentioned it himself in a speech in 2018 — https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/called-silent-pm-but-i-was-never-afraid-of-media-manmohan-singh/amp_articleshow/67153504.cms ] (]) 09:22, 16 June 2024 (UTC) |

:How recent an image is is no longer relevant now that the subject of the article is deceased. Even then, with high office holders like PMs, Presidents, VPs, etc. we use official portraits regardless of how old they are. Look at Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Kevin Rudd, etc. Look at Mr. Singh's predecessor, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, his official portrait is from 1998 but it captures him during his time in office and is years old. ] (]) 20:49, 28 December 2024 (UTC) |
