Sorry to ask, I'm looking for a policy on footballers. It's something along the lines of, if a nationality is causing disruption then it should be removed? I'm sure I've seen it in relation to football articles.

Look, I do get it. Wikis are not reliable because anyone can add any random thing. And that link just stayed because I copied them both over for quickness to try and end this, I'm on my phone so typing the coding symbols is tiresome. But to be honest, there are a number of reference books I've read where I have some knowledge of the subject and notice the author has stated something that is inaccurate or just wrong, albeit innocently and accidentally.

==Tournament Pages==
Likewise I see 'reliable' online databases referenced here a lot like ''London Hearts'' which has a lot of good obscure stats, but who's to say it isn't just one guy with some domain space who fills in some blanks randomly at times? It all looks fine to me, but who can be sure?
Hi Giant Snowman, happy new year!

How far advance should pages of major tournaments (World Cup, AFCON etc) be created in advance?
And this is the disclaimer from Toon1892.com: ''"In presenting this information I would like to point out that I have no connection with, or affiliation to, Newcastle United Football Club, or any other organisation. All research is conducted by myself and where evidence points to conflicting conclusions the decision of which to include is at my sole discretion."''. Now that is one lone guy who is trying his best to present the information correctly, but ultimately he is the God of his site. And there is no-one helping him so it would be easy to miss stuff, like if a player has a brother and father who were both internationals, that's an interesting little note in my opinion but it wasn't on there. But again what is on there seems OK so great, let's quote it.

I'm considering starting a page for UEFA Euro 2036, is it too early?
Contrastingly, yes any loony can add nonsense to the Celtic Wiki, but like Misplaced Pages it will be monitored and scrutinised vigorously by obsessives and the narrow subject range involved and their devotion to it, as well as the collective aspect of collating the information, presents a decent case for the majority of the stuff on there being right as far as anyone is able to investigate it, especially the crazy disorganised world of football from 100 years ago. Still not reliable but the best we can do in some circumstances.

So you can lecture me about this if you like, I realise I am a noob that needs to be reined in; obviously you are in the right as far as the guidelines are concerned, and I understand why they are there (we don't want crap being added and referenced from more crap and then it gets quoted by some lazy journalist and shared on social media and repeated on TV and suddenly the crap is almost fact), but in this instance I feel you're overemphasising it a wee bit. Cheers, peace ] (]) 20:29, 22 December 2016 (UTC)

I've seen your comment about me on the admin noticeboard. I have spent plenty of time reviewing wiki policy and procedure and am very interested in the 'behind the scenes' aspect of wikipedia.

Hi Mr. Snowman,

I want to sincerely apologize for my actions and I realize that we both were getting frustrated and I apologize for that.

I'm starting to realize your point regarding the inexperience and I'm starting to realize although it is true and I don't want it to disqualify my vote, I feel like it is necessary to somehow be proactive about.

I was wondering if you would considering ] me and be a mentor? I know we just argued a few hours ago but I'm realizing I really do need someone to help guide me and with the warning I already got for a satire edit (which was fully my fault), I'm starting to realize that maybe I don't know the Misplaced Pages's ins and outs as I thought.

I have been mostly trying to stay behind the scenes and been working on promoting ] but in light of recent events although I'm still working on it, I definitely need someone to mentor me. Would you consider adopting me?

Thanks,

Advice if you have a mo

Sorry to ask, I'm looking for a policy on footballers. It's something along the lines of, if a nationality is causing disruption then it should be removed? I'm sure I've seen it in relation to football articles. The reason I'm asking is because there is some disruption over at Hamza Choudhury. Any advice? Thanks in advance, Knitsey (talk) 17:06, 4 January 2025 (UTC)

The general rule is - if someone is born in one country but plays for another through e.g. parentage, do not mention the nationality straight after the date of birth (e.g. Riyad Mahrez). For Hamza, until he actually plays for Bangladesh, I think saying he is 'English footballer' is fine. If/when he plays for Bangladesh, remove the nationality. GiantSnowman 17:15, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
