Hello. I have received your email, where you inquired about whether your topic ban prohibits you from making edits to ]. In the interest of transparency, and so other administrators can see this clarifying statement, I am responding here rather than by e-mail.
== Welcome! == | |||
In short, your topic ban does not ''per se'' cover this subject wholly. If any edit you make adds content involving the ethnic identity of particular individuals where it is disputed whether their ethnicity is Ukrainian, or adds content relating to disputes between the countries of Russia and Ukraine, then your edit is prohibited.
Hi UA0Volodymyr! I noticed ] to ] and wanted to welcome you to the Misplaced Pages community. I hope you like it here and decide to stay.
I am generally not too familiar with the historiography of the 1946-47 famine in the Ukraine, but if it is anything like that of the ] I would ''strongly advise'' you to avoid making edits there. It would be ''very easy'' to violate your topic ban—there is content on ] that, if you were to add it, would violate your topic ban. If your goal is to have the topic ban lifted in 3 months, when you can appeal it to the administrator's noticeboard, I would suggest that you continue to translate pages that do not require one to get deep into the weeds on (post-)Soviet politics.

] Thank you for ] to Misplaced Pages. It appears that you translated text from one or more pages to another page. While you are welcome to translate Misplaced Pages content, here or elsewhere, ] '''requires that you provide attribution''' to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Misplaced Pages article, this is supplied at a minimum in an ''']''' on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and ] it to the source page. For example: <code>Content in this edit is translated from the existing French Misplaced Pages article at <nowiki>]</nowiki>; see its history for attribution.</code> It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{tl|translated page}} template on the talk pages of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, please ], even if it was a long time ago. You can read more about author attribution and the reasons for it at ]. I note that you have placed the {{tl|translated page}} template on relevant talk pages already, but I did want to make you aware of the requirement that a link to the original page be included in an edit summary when you perform a translation. A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as ''contentious topics''. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Misplaced Pages’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Misplaced Pages administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
:In rare circumstances, a checkuser block isn't about socking. For example, it could involve information obtained using the CheckUser tool, so the block must by necessity be marked as such, as it would be difficult for a non-checkuser to review the evidence. ] (]) 15:59, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello. I have received your email, where you inquired about whether your topic ban prohibits you from making edits to Soviet famine of 1946–1947 in Ukraine. In the interest of transparency, and so other administrators can see this clarifying statement, I am responding here rather than by e-mail.
In short, your topic ban does not per se cover this subject wholly. If any edit you make adds content involving the ethnic identity of particular individuals where it is disputed whether their ethnicity is Ukrainian, or adds content relating to disputes between the countries of Russia and Ukraine, then your edit is prohibited.
I am generally not too familiar with the historiography of the 1946-47 famine in the Ukraine, but if it is anything like that of the Holodomor I would strongly advise you to avoid making edits there. It would be very easy to violate your topic ban—there is content on w:uk:Голодомор в Україні (1946—1947) that, if you were to add it, would violate your topic ban. If your goal is to have the topic ban lifted in 3 months, when you can appeal it to the administrator's noticeboard, I would suggest that you continue to translate pages that do not require one to get deep into the weeds on (post-)Soviet politics.
I'm not able to handle your other request myself, but I have forwarded it to the functionaries who can.
Please let me know on my talk page if you have any further questions going forward.

Note on translations and attribution
Thank you for your contributions to Misplaced Pages. It appears that you translated text from one or more pages to another page. While you are welcome to translate Misplaced Pages content, here or elsewhere, Misplaced Pages's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Misplaced Pages article, this is supplied at a minimum in an edit summary on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and linking it to the source page. For example: Content in this edit is translated from the existing French Misplaced Pages article at ]; see its history for attribution.
It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{translated page}} template on the talk pages of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, please add attribution retrospectively for that also, even if it was a long time ago. You can read more about author attribution and the reasons for it at Misplaced Pages:Copying within Misplaced Pages. I note that you have placed the {{translated page}} template on relevant talk pages already, but I did want to make you aware of the requirement that a link to the original page be included in an edit summary when you perform a translation. Thank you, and happy editing! — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 03:16, 11 January 2024 (UTC)

Blocked
I have blocked you for abuse of email and a violation of your topic ban (disputes between Russia and Ukraine). As this block is based on private evidence, you may appeal to arbcom-enwikimedia.org. Maxim (talk) 14:51, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
checkuser block
To editor Maxim: Thanks for reverting me if I was in error. What do I misunderstand about this checkuser block? If UA0Volodymyr is blocked for a topic ban, why is it listed in this manner? Chris Troutman (talk) 15:45, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- In rare circumstances, a checkuser block isn't about socking. For example, it could involve information obtained using the CheckUser tool, so the block must by necessity be marked as such, as it would be difficult for a non-checkuser to review the evidence. Maxim (talk) 15:59, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. This is the first time in ten years I recall seeing this sort of block. Chris Troutman (talk) 16:07, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
February 2024
It may not have been your intention, but one of your edits, specifically one that you made on Rosa Luxemburg, may have been a change that some consider controversial. Due to this, your edits may have been reverted. When making possibly controversial changes, it is good practice to first discuss your edit on the article's talk page before making it, to gain consensus over whether or not to include the text, phrasing, etc. If you believe that the information you added was correct, please initiate that discussion. Thank you. LegalSmeagolian (talk) 20:13, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of RussischeMontanindustrie-Aktien-Gesellschaft
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on RussischeMontanindustrie-Aktien-Gesellschaft requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://enc.rusdeutsch.ru/articles/5719. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Misplaced Pages takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Misplaced Pages to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Misplaced Pages:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Misplaced Pages:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Misplaced Pages's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Misplaced Pages's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice:
{{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}
. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped. Maxim (talk) 15:42, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
To reviewing administrators: please note two ANI threads (1, 2) that have followed the earlier unblock with topic ban. Note that the sockpuppet account P2342 was used while the first ANI thread was ongoing. Maxim (talk) 15:42, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).Ze'ev Red (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
The only purpose of the using the sock-puppet was to make one constructive edit bypassing the top ban within WP:IAR, so it was legitimate. Yeah, I made a few more edits before I logged out of it, but they also were good faith. UA0Volodymyr (talk) 15:50, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
Decline reason:
What you've just described is textbook sockpuppetry. If you think your conduct was legitimate, then that alone is reason not to unblock you. Sir Sputnik (talk) 17:34, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
