Introduction

This user has been editing Misplaced Pages for more than 15 years.

. . Welcome to my user page.

The areas that I work the most in tend to shift. A few that I've worked at steadily long term are folk music topics and articles, "northern" history and wilderness related topics (especially the fur trade era), geographic and scientific topics as well as various technical topics.

In a joint effort with user Wpwatchdog we successfully built & took the Edmund Fitzgerald article through GA, FA and then to featured article of the day for November 10th, 2011. A great experience going through FA that I don't intend to repeat, although in 2021 I substantially reworked and expanded Great Lakes Storm of 1913 during an FAR to allow it to retain it's FA status and again in 2022 for the USS Missouri (BB-63) article.

Previously I did a fair amount of GA reviews, specializing in taking the ones that have been waiting the longest, which are usually the heavier messier ones, as well as the more highly technical ones. I am also active trying to help at the major policy & guidline pages....I believe that improving policies and structures is key to fixing the significant problems that Misplaced Pages has. I've been active as a new article review /curation / New Page Patrol volunteer. I like helping newbies, especially ones who are experts in their fields but are having trouble understanding Misplaced Pages, a type important to progress from Misplaced Pages's current plateau.

Account declarations: I have an older (2007) essentially never-used inactive account goober9000 and also a declared account TheParasite which is explained there and which had 2 only whimsical edits outside of its user space before I retired it in 2011. I assisted someone that I mentor in real life in setting up North8001 for them to try to get them started editing Misplaced Pages which didn't happen. I'll just call it mine. It is unused account with near-zero edits though I might use it when working from unsecured locations.

I live in the US and am male.

Absences

I takes some trips where I'm completely off the grid and others where I avoid the internet. I don't post notices with dates on those. If you were expecting to hear from me and didn't, you might want check my edit history to see if it might be one of those.

Good work on the folk rock entry in sorting out and trimming down the lead. As someone who was probably the single biggest contributor to that page, in terms of writing actual content and sourcing refs, I think the article looks and scans a lot better now that you've moved much of the lead into the new History and Evolution section.
