Bratt was born and raised in San Francisco, California. His uncle is American actor Benjamin Bratt.
Bratt played basketball for Lincoln High School (San Francisco) team. While attending University of California, Santa Cruz, Bratt auditioned for Rez Ball. Bratt said that he had no training in acting prior his audition.
