A green baseball field surrounded by navy blue seats with three light towers high above
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre has played at PNC Field, formerly Lackawanna County Stadium, since 1989.

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders Minor League Baseball team has played in the Scranton–Wilkes-Barre metropolitan area, for 35 years since being established in 1989 as members of the International League (IL). The team has played 4,989 regular-season games and compiled a win–loss record of 2,658–2,331 (.533). The RailRiders' best regular-season record occurred in 2016 when they finished 91–53 (.636). Conversely, their lowest record was 62–80 (.437), which the team recorded in 1993 and 1994.

The team has claimed two league titles (2008 and 2016). Additionally, the RailRiders secured one class title (2016), and thirteen division titles, including five consecutive championships from 2006 to 2010, along with three wild card playoff berths.

The RailRiders have experienced one main period of failure. Between 1989, their inaugural season, and 1998, the RailRiders appeared in the postseason once, which was an IL championship appearance (1992) and had one winning season, the aforementioned year. For nine consecutive seasons under Dave Miley (2007–2015), the RailRiders made nine postseason appearances and won seven division titles. In addition, Miley and the RailRiders competed in two IL championship games, winning one, in 2008, and being runner-up in 2009.
