Established in Chicago in 1994, Nymb initially featured Elaine Doty on vocals and drums, Jamie Zoeller on guitar, Adam Kaczmarek on guitar, and Chad Price on bass. With this lineup, the band self-released a couple of limited EPs between 1994 and 1995. In 1996, drummer Ben Kane joined the band, allowing Elaine to focus solely on vocals. Around the same time, Adam left the group, prompting Elaine to take over his role as rhythm guitarist. This formed Nymb’s core lineup: Elaine on vocals and rhythm guitar, Jamie on lead guitar, Ben on drums, and Chad on bass.
In late 1997, Chad left the band and was replaced by Ryan Klopfenstein, who contributed to the recording of the first two tracks of their EP, “Novembre,” on November 19th and 20th of 1997. Ryan remained with the band until early 1998, when he was succeeded by Cory Verblen. With Cory on bass, the band recorded most of their discography, including their debut and only LP, “So This Is How It Is.”
