Image Tagging Image:644568589 l.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:644568589 l.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Misplaced Pages (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fritz Saalfeld (Talk) 21:29, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

Please note that this image has now been deleted as it was tagged as not having any copyright status for more than seven days. I have removed it from your user page. --TheParanoidOne 10:27, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Image tagging for Image:The Matrix Prime.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:The Matrix Prime.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Misplaced Pages's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Circuit Breaker Image

The image you keep putting up of circuit breaker is stolen fan-art drawn by the artist Beamer. He never gave you permission to use it, and it was comissioned by someone else for an art project. You have no right to use it at all, and it will be removed every single time you put it up.

As the above bot told you, read the Misplaced Pages:Image use policy page.

Transformers: Generation 1 vs. Original Series

The name Transformers: Generation 1 is the accepted form on the Transformers Wiki Project. Before you start changing it in all their articles, you should propose such a change on their page and let the members decide. There are hundreds of articles that say G1, and one person changing it now would be inconsistant. You should propose it as a change and see if the other member s of the project agree or not. user:mathewignash

Cybertron Transformers - Jungle Planet Transmetals

A refer you to the quote from Scourge's tech specs "Cold, distant, and prone to violent rage against those he views as lesser creatures, he holds most of the Jungle Planet firmly in his transmetal claw." Thus my reasoning that Jungle Planet Transformers are Transmetals. user:mathewignash

Copyvio

Your addition of a copyvio image to String bikini has been reverted. Please be more careful when checking the licenses! --Yamla 03:12, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Copyright infringement

Please be more careful about respecting copyright on images. You cannot simply copy any image and use it on Misplaced Pages, and if some material is removed for being a copyright infringement, such as on Circuit Breaker (Transformers), you must not replace it. Continuing to violate copyright rules will lead you to be banned from editing Misplaced Pages. Other than the fact that if you continue you will be banned from Misplaced Pages, also consider:

  • Articles which contain copyrighted text ultimately need to be deleted, so your contributions and any subsequent contributions would all be deleted. Copying makes a nicer article in the short term, but in the long term it destroys your efforts and the efforts of anyone else interested in Transformers and the the article in the end is much worse.
  • Violating copyright is illegal. You are vulnerable to fines of tens of thousands of dollars.

You seem to be a good-faith contributor, but you and Misplaced Pages exist in a legal environment where you cannot copy the work of others without permission, and it is necessary that you follow these rules on Misplaced Pages. If you have any questions about what copyright means, I would be happy to help. —Centrxtalk • 03:15, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Circuitbreaker-marvel.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Circuitbreaker-marvel.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Capitolization in a section title

I have been guilty of this in the past myself, but the Misplaced Pages Manual of style states: In a heading, capitalize only the first letter of the first word and the first letter of any proper nouns, and leave all of the other letters in lowercase. Example: "Rules and regulations", not "Rules and Regulations". http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Wording Based on this the correct term is "Animated series" not "Animated Series". usertalk:mathewignash

Made up ranks

Is there a source for your rank names (like Sub-Commander) or whatever? They seem to be completely made up and unofficial, which is why I keep removing them. If they are official, please let me know. usertalk:mathewignash

Lycans

Just so you know, while Lycans are obviously Werewolves, they are never referred to as such in the films or the novelisations, always being called Lycan. The only time I can remember where they were ever called that was in the first film, when Selene is explaining the war to Michael, and there she first calls them Lycans before simplifying that to Werewolves. On all other occasions they are called Lycans, including by high ranking vampires like Viktor and Lycans like Singh. The novels occasionally refer to them as such, but call them Lycans far more often. Thats why the article takes that line. Ta. SMegatron 09:58, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Magmatron

Yes I did read the version of your edit where you rewrote the tech spec data. However, they were still far too similar to his original tech spec cards. It would take too long to upload the image so Ill settle for a link to a page with the data . As you can see, the only real changes are the removal of one sentence, a few more reorganized sentences and a few grammatical changes . Look, I'm not trying to get into a fight with you. I know you're just trying to improve the articles: so am I, and I don't believe tech spec data should be removed altogether. However, all tech specs are still copyrighted by Hasbro, and as such are unusable, as Centrx noted above. If we rewrite them fully, still getting the same points across in different language, we still get the information across without causing a copyvio, as shown here . I hope we can find a way to work together in future. Best Regards. SMegatron 20:35, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

Ah, I think we've misunderstood each other. The version of the page now is perfectly fine. However, as I said, it was the original rewrite I objected to. I rewrote that one because it was still too similar to the original tech spec. However, it looks fine now, and I have no further objections. I wasn't redoing your changes out of pettiness - its just that copyrighted tech specs, Marvel Universe bios, Dreamwave MTMTE bios, etc are unusable under the terms of wikipedia's copyright terms. Because of the sheer number of them on pages, several, including Arcee and Scourge, have been reverted to a state before the specs were added in - thus losing everything else too. They were only restored after the bios were removed. At one point Red Alert was even deleted entirely because of it - the current version was restored by Mathewignash after removing all the bios. So, in order to prevent this from happening further, I try to remove them whenever I see them. Nothing personal, its just trying to make the articles look better. Anyway, I hope that clears things up between us. Best Regards.SMegatron 10:18, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Please stop it with the "TransMetals"

This is not a correct capitolization for the word. Just check out Blackarachnia's tech spec here: http://www.cobraislandtoys.com/tf/1999/blackarachnia-tm2.html user:mathewignash

"Brush up on the culture"?

According to your user page, you weren't even born when I attended my first science fiction convention. (Helpful hint: I see you were home-schooled; but unless you're as rich as Shrub, you need to learn to spell words like "Republican"!) --Orange Mike 23:26, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Your edits going against Misplaced Pages:Manual of Style (headings)

I've been looking through a few of your contributions to Beast Wars related articles, and I've notice that you deliberately continue to ignore Misplaced Pages's Manual of Style. Please note that headings are not to be linked. Instead use the Template:See also template like so:

See also: Beast Wars

And second, do not capitalize the first letter of every word in headings unless its a proper noun. For instance, instead of leaving a heading as Animated Series, just leave it as Animated series. Just a few quick things I wanted to point out to you. -- bulletproof 06:03, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Primes

I realise Im probably butting my nose in where it doesn't belong, however I couldn't help but notice the problem between you and Mat over the Prime's page. Your proposal to rename the page on Mat's talk sounds like a good idea: however I don't think thats accurate either. Its a tad ambiguous to say the least to call the catergory Primes/Primals, as a few characters don't fit either description (in fact I removed it from Hot Rod earlier today, as I didn't understand the purpose). Perhaps moving it to Primes and associated characters would help? I realise its clunky but it would probably better decribe it. Anyway, regards.SMegatron 20:26, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Not at all, if anyone has any constructive criticism or relevant things to say I welcome them. I have been worried about the ambiguous of the category name myself as you noticed. “Primes and Associated Characters” might help that, or maybe “Prime Family” or “Primes and Linked Characters". --The Matrix Prime 01:25, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

I rather like the latter of those options myself. Regards.SMegatron 08:14, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Then it's a toss up between "Primes and Linked Characters" or "Characters Associated with Prime" (which is a better phrased verison of the first suggestion.) Which do you think is better? --The Matrix Prime 15:40, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

As you're the category's originator, I'll leave it up to you. I have to admit I think the first is more direct and to the point. Regards.SMegatron 18:29, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

Onyx Primal

Hey there. As you've obviously put quite a lot of time and effort into it, I thought I'd give you a heads up that I have just given Onyx Primal a bit of a cleanup. I've removed and reworded the tech spec stuff , added detail of the Botcon play he appeared in and added the usual "fictional character" intro. Anyway, look it over and give me a shout if you think anything needs changed. Regards.SMegatron 10:42, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Appreciate the heads up, looks great. I just tweaked the template a little inorder to get that color bar in. --The Matrix Prime 20:06, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Black Cat

I'm afraid your repeated claim that the Black Cat is an obvious homage to Catwoman has no basis.

CBR: "When you created the Black Cat to be Spider-Man’s new girl friend, was it linked to a desire to write stuff about Catwoman or was it only an homage?"

Marv: I didn’t plan Black Cat to be in Spidey. I created her for Spider-Woman (look at the letter column of the first B.C. story and you’ll see). I then decided to leave Spider-Woman and moved her over. So, I never even thought of Catwoman when I did her. I got the idea for her from a Tex Avery cartoon, Bad Luck Blackie.

Felicia Hardy's signature costume, cat burglar profession, and her steady relationship to Spider-man predates Selina Kyle's similar depiction in comics by almost a decade. Catwoman spent most of her comic life as a purple dressed female super villian who used big cats to commit anything but subtle crimes. Selina Kyle's current incarnation as a black suited cat burglar with romantic ties to Batman didn't occur until 1987 with Frank Miller's classic Batman: Year One.

I'm not certain if you are a Catwoman fan or are simply adding false material. I appreciate your interest in the character and we can easily take this to arbitration if you'd like.

Generation 1 vs. "the original"

Generation 1 is accepted standard of the Transformers Wiki Project. Please post to it if you want to change it, and get a concensus. I will abide by it. user:mathewignash

I stop trying to change that, remember? Using the "original" is simply making the article clearer in the actual paragraphs, not the titles. --The Matrix Prime 00:17, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
