Kelly Moore (non-fiction writer)

Hey. You deleted this page as "biography" with "no assertion of significance," and yet Misplaced Pages has a full section of American true crime authors. (Not to mention countless biographies of un-notable performers and the like.) Hi, you deleted the Ceph two times as blatant advertising. Before that I deleted it once as a copyvio. The versions you deleted are copyvio free btw. Didar Singh Bains

Please consider undeleting Didar Singh Bains. You deleted this under WP:CSD#A7 (No claim of significance or importance). It seems to me that such satemetns in the article as "one of the richest Sikh farmers in North America" "a leading figure in the Sikh community for the last 20 years". "president of the World Sikh organization" and "founder chairman of the World Kabbadi federation" do constitute an assertion of significance. Obviously better sroucing would be needed for this to survive an AfD, but I think these claims ought to be enough to avoid an A7 speedy. DES 23:46, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of Velvet D'Amour

I'm wondering why you deleted the article a mere 5 mintues after it was written?? I was still in the process of citing references and linking images. If there is some issue with adding models and actresses who are listed in countless media and the IMDB.com, then please send me that Wiki Page so I know the protocal. There are countless others with less merit who still exist on the Wiki. As it stands, the article would prob survive an AfD if discussed by people who actually know about the topic. Deletion of Spyware terminator

I just rewrote that article and I dont think that in any way, shape, or form does it represent advertising. I agree that the previous version at Spyware terminator was something like an advertisement, but this page was brand new and was meant to address that problem. The page mimiced the layout of the Ad-Aware page, and similar information is shown on that page (release date, download.com downloads, release information, basic features, etc.). It also mimics the Spysweeper, Spybot and Windows Defender pages, which still exist and dont seem to have near as much problems as the Spyware terminator page. By deleting Spyware Terminator and letting those other pages live you are holding it to some unknown double standard. Cableguytk 03:51, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

I think that the text "She and Wallengren both received together a "star" on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for their work on the radio." in the article constitutes an assertion of significence sufficent that it should not be deleted via A7. Deletion of Liam Hunt

You deleted this under WP:CSD#G1 (Patent nonsense). It is clearly not patent nonsense -- i have no trouble understanding what the article says and means. (Note that PN is limited to content that "is so completely and irredeemably confused that no reasonable person can be expected to make any sense of it whatsoever.") Liam Hunt is an article about a fictional character. The character might be non-notable, and too much of the article is written in an in-universe style, and there is too little real-world context. Those are all things that could be fixed, or if judged non-fixable, might lead to deletion at an AfD. Bit none of them, IMO, is a good reason for a speedy deletion. Please consider undeleting this article, and, if you think it should be deleted, tagging it for prod or afd, so that other editors have a chance to improve the article and debate its deletion. Deletion of X-sample

Please consider undeleting X-sample. You deleted this with the comment "CSD A7: Article about subject that does not assert significance (emphasis added). Now of course A7 does not extend to "subjects" in general, and this is an article about a pseudonym. Furthermore, even if A7 extended to such articles, the assertion that this pseudonym was used by the very notable Eric Clapton is IMO at least a claim of notability. Now at an AfD, this might well be merged into Eric Clapton, or perhaps even deleted. Or it might be kept and improved. I suppose it might even be a hoax. Thanks for the clarification. What I don't understand, and what I intended to discuss on the Talk page before the article was deleted, is why others felt that the article met the requirements for speedy deletion, and why said shortcomings warranted a full deletion rather than cleanup. The company in question, GoLite, is of similar size to other similar companies that have articles, such as CamelBak and Kelty, and is mentioned in other Misplaced Pages articles, such as the article on Hydration packs, the article on rock climber Ray Jardine, and Primal Quest.

After deletion, I condensed the page into a single paragraph, trying to keep it absolutely factual and neutral, and marked it as a stub for expansion, but you deleted that version as well. The text of that version was:

GoLite is an outdoor equipment and clothing manufacturer based in Boulder, Colorado. It was founded in 1998 by Kim and Demetri “Coup” Coupounas. GoLite designs and manufactures high-end light and ultra-light clothing, footwear, backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, hydration packs, and accessories. GoLite products are used for backpacking, hiking, adventure racing, trail running, mountaineering, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and alpinism.

WikiAir deleted

Why did you delete the article I posted regarding WikiAir without even visiting the site? It is a significant site that is important to a lot of people. I guess you should delete WikiTravel also then.

It is true that I am involved with, and contribute to WikiAir. But I don't fall into any of the below guidelines. WikiAir is a non-commercial website, non-profit, and free for all.

Conflict of interest often presents itself in the form of self-promotion, including advertising links, personal website links, personal or semi-personal photos, or other material that appears to promote the private or commercial interests of the editor, or their associates.

Examples of these types of material include:

  1. Links that appear to promote products by pointing to obscure or not particularly relevant commercial sites (commercial links).
  2. Links that appear to promote otherwise obscure individuals by pointing to their personal pages.
  3. Biographical material that does not significantly add to the clarity or quality of the article.

La Quinta High School Policy debate deleted

But the template says that it applies provided the page's only substantial content was added by its author. If you look through the history the other editors have all made minor edits such as adding categories. Here is the link between the comparison of my initial article and the rest . Why did you delete this page as if it were "blatant advertising?" This makes very little sense considering it was three sentences long, one giving the title and web location of the magazine, a second stating when the publication was born and a third naming the two parties who founded the publication. A request

Could you please endeavor to be more careful in your deletions? I'm already wary of your actions considering your mass image deletions that more than one of us has had to spend hours cleaning up without any help from you. Then I discover that you don't actually remove the image links from the articles, which is plain sloppy and inconsiderate. Now you come back and start blowing through deletions again with what appears to be a high error rate: misleading and wrong citations of WP:SPEEDY, etc.

Deletion and communication issues

It seems to me that you have been doing a lot of speedy deletions that do not conform to WP:CSD, and IMO are not good for wikipedia, as well as a number where the page probably should be deleted, but your delete log entry is misleading or incorrect. it also seems to me that when users have been asking you about these deletions, you have either responded simply "take it to DRV" or not responded at all, and that when these deletions have in fact been raised on DRV, you have chosen not to comment. It can be rather frustrating to have the deleting admin fail to respond when a deletion is questioned. This is true even for experienced editors, particularly since the DRV instructions mandate discussing matters with the deleting admin first. For relative newcomers, who don't understand what DRV is for or how to use it, or why the pages they created were deleted (in some cases perfectly properly) this can be very frustrating indeed, and i urge you to be more communicative in such cases. I also urge you to be more careful when doing speedy deletes, both as to the reason you log, and as to whether a particular page actually fits any of the WP:CSD, and particularly whether it fits the one you cite in the delete log entry. It is my view, which i think is widely shared, that the speedy delete criteria are fairly specific, and should be interpreted narrowly and strictly -- if something isn't clearly included it is better to use prod or AfD instead. I am going to continue deleting pages that fail the CSD criteria. If you have some problem with that, I don't know what continuing to badger me is going to accomplish. It's clear that we have different interpretations of what material falls under CSD, however, you should assume good faith and see that I am only working to improve the encyclopedia instead of trying to intentionally damage it. I do assume that you intend to aid the project, but I think the fact that so many people are complaining about so many of your deletions ought to be a clue that the way in which you have been interpreting the speedy deletion criteria is out of whack with community consensus. I assume good faith, but I do not assume correctness. Anyone can make a mistake, but I see in your deletions a pattern of interpreting the CSD very broadly indeed, and of deleting things by what amounts to WP:IAR, since they aren't even plausibly covered by any CSD. Take a look at recent discussions at WT:CSD, particularly WT:CSD#A7 Scope Again. Take a look at the reactions that a number of your deletions have gotten at deletion review.

Please note the following wording from WP:CSD:

These criteria are worded narrowly and such that in most cases reasonable editors will agree what does or does not fall under a given criterion. Where reasonable doubt exists, discussion using another method under the deletion policy should occur instead.

Before nominating an article for speedy deletion, consider whether it could be improved or reduced to a stub; if so, speedy deletion is probably inappropriate. Contributors sometimes create articles over several edits, so try to avoid deleting a page too soon after its creation if it appears incomplete

Do you really think your deletions consistently adhere to these policy statements?

Even more than your deletions, I am concerned about your communication style. When a relatively new editor comes to you, as a deleting admin, and questions a deletion, saying simply "Take it to DRV" is not helpful, IMO. I hope that you seriously consider this. In the mean time, when i become aware of a deletion that I think is improper or incorrect, i will notify you of it, and will take the matter on to DRV if that seems justified. You deleted Plahay/Palahi as Patent nonsense It looks to me like an article about a town in India, written by someone whose first language was not English. I saw the tag. An article that does not include an assertion of notability is grounds for deletion. Simply stating "Gayla Earlene is a Christian country music artist that is based out of Inola, OK" does not say how the subject is notable. While IMO this article would need improvemetn and better sourcing to pass an AfD, i think that "He anchors Eyewitness News at 5, 6 and 11 p.m., the top-rated newscast in Indainapolis" is at least a claim of significance. Deletion of Four Reigns

You deleted Four Reigns with the logged reason (see WP:OR). But Original research is not one of the speedy deletion criteria. I agree thst this would need sourcing and cleanup to remain for long, it appears that parts of it, at least, are OR. Parts appear to be a factual description of a book. While th book might not be notable, a google search on "Four Reigns" Kukrit Pramoj gets several hundred hits. Also, as the author Kukrit Pramoj was Prime Minister of Thailand, he is clearly notable and his novels are likely to be so. This is the sort of thing that can be discovered more easily if possibly non-notable articles are not speedy deleted but are given a little bit of time. DES 02:13, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

CONFUSED!!! There are several articles/Post on wiki about companies.. so why was post about Talk Fusion and Talk Fusion Guide deleted. It is a company I put the info about the company and a link to get more info about the company. How about deleteing the pages about Microsoft or Google. Speedy deletions

Could you please be a little less jumpy with the delete button? You seem to be deleting a lot of stuff that then needs to go to AfD or DRV or elsewhere. We have speedy criteria for a reason. We should generally stick to them. JoshuaZ 14:13, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Adrian Belew Trio

Hey Naconkantari,

I was wondering if you might reverse your speedy of this article...it appears to me that there is an assertion of significance (touring with a notable musician, Adrian Belew) that should have passed CSD A7. I do think, however, that this article and the two related articles, Julie Slick & Eric Slick, should go through AfD due to lack of sources. Deletion of Abhash Kumar

You deletd Abhash Kumar under WP:CSD#A7. I think that "He shot to fame for putting down caste based riots in southern Tamil Nadu with iron hands" and "He was awarded with the 'Communal Harmony Award' by the Governor for his efforts." and "The Periyar University, Salem in Tamil Nadu has appointed him as the Honorary Visiting Faculty" are at least assertions of significance or importance. it might well be that this article would have PoV problems -- it might even be that it would be delted at an AfD. But I request that you consider reversing your speedy deletion. I note that anothe editor already asked you about your deletion of this article. DES 19:22, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of Nirmal ashram

You deleted this under WP:CSD#A7. However it seems to me that an article about a charitable foundation which states that it has created and runs two schools, a hospital, and an Eye institute; that it has existed for over one hundred years; and that it is "an important spiritual destination of Northern India" at least asserts the significance of that institution. This would need sources and probably expansion to pass an afd, but I don't think a speedy deletion, without even tagging and notifying the creator, is warranted. Please consider restoring this and either using prod or afd, to allow sources to be found if they can be. DES 20:25, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
