Tagging of Lilly Arbor Project

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Lilly Arbor Project. I do not think that Lilly Arbor Project fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because this was not in fact a copyvio. While it relied on a single source, i could not find any text actuly copied from that source. Rather all text was rewritten/paraphrased.DES 05:18, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

I wasn't aware of the previous incident. Do note that on Talk:Lilly Arbor Project User:Iupuicees asserts that he has permission from CEES IUPUI (the organization, not the user) to post content from their sites. This may be false, or may be so restricted that the content isn't truly free, but I think that perhaps we need to assume good faith a little more in this particular case. Do you agree? I got a msg from LHVU on my user talk page. He asks that I review the edits of User:Cees iupui who you had already pointed out to me. He says that if I am satisfied that they are different users, or are the same by making the same mistake (by which i presume he means acting wrongly but in good faith) then he will be happy to unblock, or a should feel free to unblock myself. Music videos

Here's my two cents (and it might be worth asking others, as I am not an expert in such matters) it's not original research to say something exists simply because it doesn't have an online cite. For instance, the plots and other details of movies, particularly obscure ones, often can't be online-cited -- but they do exist, and anyone with access to the DVD or whatever can discover them. I know that for many obscure albums, folks have transcribed data directly off the records themselves. That's not original research. Also I've worked on some articles in which the original sources were either books, or in a foreign language. Again, that's kosher. I think original research in the context of a music video would be things like personal interpretations of the video's meaning or guesses as to the reasoning the band might have chosen to make such a video, etc. Also, plenty of things are unsourced on Misplaced Pages. It only really matters when it is challenged. For instance the article Lampshade provides no sources asserting that lampshades exist, or that they are used as described. If challenged, someone would have to provide sources, but it's highly unlikely that it will be challenged, as these are not controversial assertions. As for your second question, I'm not sure I totally understand. Do you want to create an article about the single and link the video? Or link the video to the article about the album/artist? Deaf pedestrians

There are actually only 485 *unique* Ghits for "Deaf pedestrians" (go to results page 50), not all of which are about the band (some are actually on actual deaf pedestrians). I couldn't find anything other than the band's own site, last.fm, and the like. NawlinWiki 23:48, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Atlanta articles: there seems to be a background, see the author's talk page, and Walfuz's message to him. Some admins, not including myself, see this as making a difference & would be more likely to speedy--I go just by the article as it stands, not the motive I see you've been speedying the other Atlanta articles as A1, which dont think is really right either, but I'll leave to another admin. Personally, I would prod them all instead as no references to support notability.--but if any of them are actually on the Landmarks list, they'll be automatically notable. Holocausto band

Hi,I believe you marked my article on Holocausto for speedy deletion. I have justified the article on its talk page, I think it deserves to be on wikipedia since it was an important part of the 1980s South American thrash metal/Colombian metal scene. The city of Medellin was renouned for several thrash bands, including Holocausto, which all played together. One of the bands, Athanator, is still playing and has achieved worldwide recognition. The guitarist in Athanator was, for a time, a member of Holocausto. Holocausto were not just some old 'garage band' - they played large shows in the city of Medellin and released several albums. If I may ask, why does this continue? I try creating good pages like Eleventyseven, which is a well known band, and I even put up as much information on it as many other articles have, but for some reason, it is declared innappropriate. This just gets more and more confusing, but whatever. I guess you guys know what you you are doing. Whenever Eleventyseven becomes notable enough, can I ask you if it is ready for an article? transwiki

You left a comment on my talk page... Just because it doesn't come up in Google doesn't mean it doesn't exist. As for the date - I interpreted that as the article creation date by a newbie rather than the creation date of the word. At any rate, the word doesn't get into Wiktionary without manual curation by an editor; what happens is that it goes into a transwiki log and awaits a person picking it up and completing the transwiki process. Well, nothing seems to have happened so I've tagged it as no content (a3). It was deleted as copyvio, and recreated with the hangon tag. What that seemed to suggest was that perhaps a non-copyvio version was being written; sometimes speedy articles (especially copyvios) are deleted and then recreated with different content, which is why G4 doesn't apply to speedies. The reason I replaced hangon with under construction is because I always interpret creating a page with a hangon tag to mean "i'm working on this, don't delete it yet", even though the result is almost always speediable, it's assuming good faith I guess. - Zeibura 23:36, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Speedies

I meant to put a prod on them, and Ive just done that. It's usually worth trying--there's a 50% chance that the people realize and don't contest it. Just watchlist and if they do remove the tag, AfD. Frankly, I look at too many to keep track of everything myself & I rely on others--this is wrong of me, but.... (And I was going to mention, yes, you seem to have gotten a little impatient the last week. ) If you want an interesting variation on patrolling, try following one of the subject-oriented new page logs at User:AlexNewArtBot--it will show the ones that get missed in the first round. Lots of missed copyvios in most of them. But even for copyvio, if it's something really important, I stubify & write a note to the author; if it isnt important, it's a clear-cut way to remove it. Revert warring (over Ho-Oh)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Ho-Oh. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Since you refuse to try to justify your actions, I will sum up my evaluatation. You were going around shoddily bulk merging articles, leaving out important information because you didn't even bother to read the articles properly. Thus you missed the vital point that Ho-Oh is also a name for Fenghuang and thus some kind of disambiguation is required. When an editor reverts the merge and tries to tell you this, instead of attempting to understand the issue you just revert him back and tell him to talk to someone else. You know about the 3rr so ironically you feel no need to discuss or understand the problem yourself, you merely revert three times and then call in a friend who has even less idea what is going on than you do but is happy to use their 3 reverts on your behalf. User page prods

How do I do it so (relatively) quickly? Tabbed browsing (where I set up candidate pages) and a Word file of twenty or so pieces of tag text (easily altered, usually, to fit every occasion). Of course, it takes a fair amount of time to work out WHERE to find the candidate pages in the first place: what you're seeing is merely the repetitive end process. --Calton | Talk 04:26, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Howdy, Warthog Demon!

Just got your smile and many thanks for it! I was just coming to the end of a productive Wiki-Evening, and that was a nice warm fuzzy to top it off. I was trying to teach myself how to make an infobox. It was getting to the point where I was maybe just a little too drowsy to be reading instruction manuals (and I suspect that I am an undiagnosed ADD, even something akin to dyslexia, because for as much as I enjoy reading I have trouble sometimes just tracking the lines...but you didn't need to know that....).
