Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

semi protection - anon troll edit war. --Karent82 21:33, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Bird feeding (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect. Persistent disruptive edits or vandalism, apparently from a single anonymous user repeatedly inserting unsupported assertions (that bird feeding is controversial), without valid arguments, against the consensus of editors, and without meaningful discussion. The vast majority of the edits since about March 2007 are insertion or reversion of the material. There are warnings on the talk page of one of the IPs , but that didn't help. Lately the reverts have been coming from many different IPs. --Nethgirb 21:29, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

The Big Lebowski (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protect - supposedly this page is already semi-protected due to edit warring and vandalilsm via anonymous IP addresses, but there are numerous recent edits/vandalisms from anonymous users. Doesn't semi-protection prevent anonymous editing? Or did the protection expire and no one removed the semi-protect tag? Can we protect again? ♣♦ SmartGuy ♥♠ 18:11, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Unprotection - locked on July 23, last instance of vandalism was on the same day several hours later, so there has been no vandalism on this page for about three weeks now. --Andrewlp1991 20:45, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
User:Collabi (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Years ago, my user page was protected due to vandalism by anonymous IPs. Now I'd like to update it myself but can't. Semi-protection should be adequate, I hope, to prevent its being trashed by anons upset with my reverting their vandalism on other wikipages. Thanks. Collabi 19:50, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Done you can now edit your own user page again. Acalamari 20:03, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Pro-pedophile activism (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
This page has been locked since 24 July and there is no movement on the talk page so the issues shopuld have sttled down and it is now time to unprotect, SqueakBox 16:54, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Declined. This article had to be protected twice last month due to edit warring. Looks like edit warring just resumed once the protection wore off last time so it seems likely that will happen again. Discussion on the talkpage seems needed so that a consensus can be reached before unprotection - perhaps avenues of dispute resolution could be explored. WjBscribe 21:16, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Allegations of apartheid (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Could you unprotect Allegations of apartheid? In the past thirteen days since protection the discussion on the talk page has died down and there have been dramatic changes in several related articles (the deletion of Allegations of American apartheid, Allegations of Chinese apartheid, the moving of "Allegations of tourist apartheid in Cuba" to Tourist segregation in Cuba etc.) As well, one editor has posted on the Talk:Allegations of apartheid that he wishes to put this article up for AFD. Can you unprotect so the article can be revised to take into account the changes in related articles and to allow a possible AFD to be filed? Lothar of the Hill People 20:42, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Kurt Angle (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Page was blocked because it was "target of abusive sockpuppets of banned vandal", possibly relating to the TNA Hard Justice PPV that just took place today. The PPV has passed by. In the case against the abusive sockpuppets, a semi-protect would be good. MITB LS 03:38, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
- Declined Semi-protection does not stop the banned vandal, Verdict (talk · contribs). He simply creates a new abusive sockpuppet and then lets it sit for a few days. --Yamla 15:14, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Current requests for significant edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
Allegations of state terrorism by the United States (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
(I added {{editprotected}} last night, but another user is questioning whether the tag should be removed, so listing here.) The project namespace template underdiscussion somehow made its way to the top of that page. It should be removed, per WP:SELF, I believe. There is a discussion on the talk page for that article here and at the template's talk page here. Take care, justen 20:02, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Semi protection - Suspected Sockpuppetary. Several edits immediately reverted by anomomous users with their first ever edits! Revert war seems to be starting against this page. Mike Young 21:02, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
- Declined - while the IPs might be the same person, they are making a possibly legitimate point in a content dispute. Full protection might become appropriate soon, but semi-protection would just give an unfair disadvantage to IP editors here. Try to find consensus on the talk page. Kusma (talk) 09:18, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
Sarbanes-Oxley (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
semi protection - repeated 3RR violations from a single anon (and now new-account editor) WP:SPA insisting on adding spam link contrary to talk page consensus, even after WP:DR. Section is as relevant to this entry as steroids references are to Barry Bonds entry, this anonymous vandal is one of many who continually remove the sourced comments for PR reasons. 68.155.127.112 23:38, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
