A quick note: I have a debating style that many find odd, as I usually try not to commit myself to a position until all the arguments are played out. This means that I'll often state arguments from both sides of a debate on different occasions, simply because I believe the arguments themselves have merit and should be made. If you stick to discussing the arguments themselves we'll have no problem, but if you try to assign a position to me, you might end up quite confused.

"Ours is not to question why, ours is but to report what reliable sources say on the matter." - First said here, but good for a reminder to myself and others.

Given the level of dysfunction that has come to prevail on Misplaced Pages, the most appropriate course for a principled scientist is to withdraw from the project.

The bureaucracy should either take corrective steps to fix this situation, or else suffer the eventual loss of huge amounts of valuable talent and volunteered resources.
