== My 'sweet' ==

APK, thanks for the sweet. Rest assured that I have not formed a bad impression - we just disagree, and probably not by as much as you think. I am a strong advocate of free speech, which is why I would not and did not ask that Aminz's comments be removed; instead, they should be challenged. However, free speech is not a limitless concept. Speech inciting both hatred and violence against ''any'' group is unacceptable, and deserves censure and (in serious cases) gaol. I didn't engage about the DM source because it was irrelevant to the discussion - extending sanctions against hate speech to include other minority groups is a reasonable action; that newspaper's ridiculous characterisation of the legislation was clearly illogical and was unworthy of response. Where we likely disagree more is over the seriousness of the comment "Being homosexual is bad also because the person uses human resources, a double negative point". I cannot see how this is not a manifestation of prejudice. In any event, discussion and debate - even robust debate, which is frowned on her per ] - are an essential part of a healthy and vibrant society.<br />Having said that, I do feel the need to take issue with you on one point. In providing me with sweets, you have given me only half a meal. Where is the gorgeous piece of meat to have afterwards? I am feeling deprived. ;-) ] (]) 13:22, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Dazed and confused

A message left on this talk page by a Christian fan of my work: "You sodomites really know how to stick together....yech !!!! I never met one who was not significantly emotionally disturbed. Oh, they can function and prosper in society but when the center of your life is your perverted sex you are emotionally disturbed and after looking at your user page are no different. People like you should and someday will be destroyed. It will be a glorious day. BTW i rotate ip addresses about every 2-3 days........Keep on Suckin'

ps. have you ever thought about putting a gun to your head and giving your life to jesus? i know i could not go through life day to day looking in the mirror at that vile degenerate looking back at me." - 97.88.222.103

So much for this.

The amount of useful material at Misplaced Pages has gone up in recent months, although adding porn links and images into certain articles seems to still be popular with some folks.

Dubai

Hello AgnosticPreachersKid. When you edited Jumeirah Beach Hotel, I decided it was time that the article got a makeover. {{Unreferenced}} and {{Advert}} had been there too long. I knew that if I did not improve it at that time, then I would never do it. When I was done, I thought that maybe I had included some POV. But, you did not mention it, so I guess I did a good job.

You said "we have the same interest in Dubai." So I thought you may be interested in WikiProject Dubai. I am currently setting up the project with another user. As of now, it is on a temporary page. If you are interested, go to User:Raime/WikiProject Dubai to add your name. Thank you. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 19:00, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm going to try to write my first article...about the Dubai Marina Towers. I don't believe the building project has its own article yet. I've been editing article the past 2 weeks or so to get some experience before creating an article, but alas, I don't even see the button to create one. Plus, is it appropriate to use the images of the towers I found or is that considered copyrighted material?--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 20:09, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
What do you mean by "Dubai Marina Towers?" Are you referring to these buildings? If you are, they already have articles: Mesk Tower and Murjan Tower (Dubai). If not, can you provide a link to those images you are referring to so I can see them?
And if you need to know how to create an article, go to Help:Starting a new page. If you need any help, let me know. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 20:52, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Ok, my bad. I didn't see those articles. Don't know if you saw this story today, but it might be noteworthy in one of the articles: http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=080120194438.btvx361t&show_article=1 --AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 21:24, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
I do not think that the DreamWorks theme park is that important. But, if you feel that it deserves a mention in the the DreamWorks article, I am sure that it would be a welcome addition. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 02:16, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Political Debate

In my opinion, all political parties are bad. Though America was intended to be a democracy, the government is run by the parties, not the people. The people running the parties are only a small minority, yet they control the entire country. In fact, the Democratic and Republican parties would rather have one of the other get elected than have an Independent in the government. George Washington, who was one of the wisest men of his time, said that "They serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation, the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community." What makes your party better than the Democrats or Republicans if someone were to be elected from your party? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4like234 (talkcontribs) 16:35, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello. Thanks for your opinion on politics. I pretty much agree with what you said, but (excuse me if i come across as rude) what brought you to my user page and what were you referencing?--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 16:56, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I was just doing some random browsing and I happened to see your name in the history, and I decided to take a look :) By the way, the reference is to George Washington's Farewell Address, with the quote from http://www.laughtergenealogy.com/bin/history/politics.html. --4like234 (talk) 04:26, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

RDU/Userboxes

i didn't know that the days weren't supposed to be included (the delta flight to cancun)...thanks for the heads up...i'm new to editing, so mistakes are inevitable. p.s. i'm sure you've been asked before, but how do you get the user boxes, etc. on your profile? gracias.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 22:49, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

No problem. In terms of userboxes- I don't know where to really get them- I just cut and paste from other people's profiles...haha. But you can try This page and near the bottom there are categories of different userboxes. To format them on your userpage, I don't know the best way to do that so I'll just include what I used and change my info with yours: just replace my info with yours...hope this helps somewhat. If you still have questions just ask. Sox23 23:02, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks alot man. I have a big interest in airports as well, so I might have to see if there are any wiki airport groups on here...i joined my first group today...one about Dubai.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 23:05, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Let's see- there's Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Aviation as well as Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Airports if you want a group for any of those. Sox23 23:10, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Jena 6

Hi. Your edit removed this reference to a British newspaper, which discusses Jena and "stealth racism". Catchpole (talk) 08:18, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

The phrase "new stealth racism that lives on in the United States" is POV. I left the NPR and BBC references when I edited the article. I tried to rephrase the paragraph to give it a more NPOV description. What did I remove that is wrong? I'm not being rude or anything, just really wanting to know. Thanks. --AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 08:13, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
Ok. If that wording is allowed, then shouldn't the argument that reverse discrimination is also part of the town's story in relation to the case? BTW, I fixed the wording in the last sentence...added "was." See, I can be helpful. ;)--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 08:20, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
If you find a reliable source that talks about Jena in that context then feel free to add it. Catchpole (talk) 08:24, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Username

Hey, I just thought I'd let you know that I cracked up when I saw your username. That's for brightening up my day!  :) —Mears man (talk) 19:34, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Glad I could brighten your day. I'm sure my family would "love" my screenname. haha.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 22:30, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Dubai population

Did you want to leave the population table the way it is or update it with the 2006 population found right beside it. If you think it should stay the same since it has the census from every 10 years (1985, 1995, 2005), then that's totally cool.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 03:22, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

I think we should probably update the information located in the infobox at the top of the page; keep the information in the table in the Demographics section the same; and update the text in the Demographics section. Do you have a source for the 2007 population? Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 02:42, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
All I can find is the 2006 population, but I'll keep searching. --AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 03:10, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Dubai Building Mergers

i want to help merge some of the articles mentioned on the project page, but i've never merged an article before. i've tried to search for the instructions on the wiki help pages, but i think it's the move button at top? i don't want to mess with it in case i'm doing it wrong. anyway, sorry to bug you about it, but if you can tell me how to merge articles i'd appreciate it.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 00:36, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

There is no button to merge articles. You have to "do it by hand." First, go to Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Dubai#Dubai skyscrapers: merger proposals and choose a complex that has not yet been merged. Since the only ones that are left (save Emirates Towers, but that one is currently questionable) do not have articles for the complex, you should first create one. As an example, use Churchill Towers. After that, create the talk page for that new article. You should include the project banners for WikiProject Architecture, WikiProject Skyscrapers, and WikiProject Dubai. Then below that, add a statement about the merger. Use Talk:Jumeirah Al Khor as an example. Then, you should go the pages that will be merged into the new one and replace all the information with #REDIRECT ] {{R from merge}}. Use http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Jumeirah_Al_Khor_Residence&action=edit as an example. Then, go to their talk pages and replace the information with #REDIRECT ]. But, this should only be done if the only thing on the talk page are project banners. If there are other things, such as a discussion or an AFD tag, use Talk:Churchill Residency and Talk:Emirates Park Tower 1 as examples. After that, go back to where you started to cross out the articles that were merged. You should inlcude an edit summary for each edit you make. Follow the same format as the summaries User:Raime and I have been using.
thanks for the instructions. it seems kinda complicated and maybe i should wait until i'm more familiar with the site until i merge...cause like i said before, i don't want to screw anything up. lol. BTW, you've probably already seen this site, but i found it today and thought you might like to see it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AgnosticPreachersKid (talkcontribs) 01:30, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
If I did not make any sense, or you need further assistance, just let me know. And I will keep track of your mergers to see if you are doing them correclty or if there is anything that you should know about. Leitmanp (talk | contributions) 01:22, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Bwkodiak/Riley Skinner

Hi. Regarding Bwkodiak (talk · contribs) and Riley Skinner, it's helpful to explain the issue to the user rather than leaving a vandalism template and reverting his question on your talk page. The reason this content is inappropriate is because of WP:BLP. Everyone adding it is doing so in good faith - the content is obviously 100% completely inappropriate for Misplaced Pages until such time as the news media picks up on it, but it's still helpful to engage users with information about the biographies of living persons policy rather than to call the additions vandalism. --B (talk) 01:05, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip. The reason I left the vandalism template was because the article had been vandalized several times within the past few minutes by different people and I thought he/she was vandalizing as well. I'll try to find a message template showing the actual edit, etc. the next time I leave a message for someone in regards to possible vandalism or bad editing. About reverting the comment on my userpage...I did that because I don't want arguments to start on my userpage.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 01:42, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
CAT:UWT gives the full litany of warning templates that you can use. Also, if you use Firefox, you can install WP:TWINKLE, which gives you, among other things, a friendly menu that helps you choose the warning to leave. But if there isn't a warning that says what you want to say, it's always ok to leave a personal message. --B (talk) 02:18, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Gracias.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 02:19, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Sorry to bug you, but is the message i left on this user's talk page the most appropriate one to use? Sorry about bugging you again, but I've only been on this site for a little over 2 weeks and I've been asking alot of question to more experience users. --AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 02:32, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
I could have sworn that there used to be a template specifically for that purpose (warning users who add themselves/their friends/their birthdate/other non-notable personal stuff to lists). I looked and couldn't find it, so the one you picked is as good as anything else I suppose. I fixed your signature, though ... it was missing a span tag. If that was from your signature and not the template, you may want to check and see that it is setup right. --B (talk) 02:38, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Kinston

I don't get what you are doing with Kinston. There are quite enough notable people who were actually born there without including everyone who has ever resided there. Everyone who has ever played for Kinston's baseball teams, for example, has resided there. Then, oddly enough, despite broadening the category, you feel the need to eliminate people who were genuinely born there. If you don't feel they are notable and they are self-promotional as you claimed in your edit note, put their articles up for afd. Two of the four you eliminated are gospel performers and one of the others is a conservative activist which makes one wonder what your true intentions in eliminating those specific people are. It is my position that as long as they have valid Misplaced Pages articles that haven't been deleted through consensus over time, they are, by definition, notable by Misplaced Pages's standards. Kinston eagle (talk) 02:33, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

First of all, my "true intention" is to make it a great article. (see WP:FAITH) Please don't accuse me of having an agenda when you don't even know me. Someone being a gospel singer (even though i'm agnostic, i am related to christians in La Grange and don't hate christians) or a conservative politician (i'm a conservative libertarian btw) is not the reason I removed them. They don't seem noteworthy, especially the activist. I'll put them back since you're having a conniption, but once again, don't accuse people.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 02:42, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Also, look at lists in other cities and towns. Many of them include notable people that at some point lived in the town. Please don't try to be "cute" and use the Kinston Indians example because that is an exception for Kinston.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 02:48, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

HELP

{{help}} How do I revert an article to the version before an edit war? 76.220.202.205, a sock puppet of Leaveout, is making ALOT of POV edits to the Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Theo van Gogh (film director) articles. Both of these articles are of controversial people and a few of us have tried to tell the User to stop making the edits without building a consensus on the talk page. He/She will not stop editing. I've reported the article to be protected, but no help has come. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to revert an article back to an earlier version. I only know how to revert the last edit done to an article.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 13:01, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Click on the history, tab, select the version that you want to revert to, this will load up the old version of the page, click edit, and it will give you an warning that your editing an old version of the page. put in a edit summary, and then click save. Distruptive wheel wars can be reported if this continues.--Kerotan Have a nice day :) 13:08, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 13:09, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
I have done both the ones that you linked for you, if it continues we can take action, because his edits are POV'ed but we will cross that bridge when we come to it.--Kerotan Have a nice day :) 13:12, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
He/She has already reverted your edit. I can't understand why an admin won't protect it. I put a request in.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 13:15, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
So I have seen, I have reverted it back, if this goes on any longer, one of us is going to cite Misplaced Pages:3R and time soon :S.--Kerotan Have a nice day :) 13:20, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

thank you

thanks for protecting the Ayaan Hirsi Ali article, but the POV vandalism made by the User is now the current version. Is it possible to revert it back to the version before the editing of Leaveout and his/her sockpuppet 76.220.202.205 because now the article is stuck just the way he/she wanted it. Thanks.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 13:44, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Hehe, in a dispute, it's a norm to always protect the "wrong version"(tm), i.e. the latest revision. the onlyh think I could do is to revert to an revision that is before any of you started editing the article (so I can be objective). AzaToth 13:47, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
thanks. that what i had meant, revert it to the version before the whole thing happened. also, the same user is vandalizing and violating the WP:3RR policy on a related article, Theo van Gogh (film director). Can you revert back to the original version before the editing war and protect that one as well? Thank you.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 13:54, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
It's allways difficult to find the exact revision when the "edit war" started, sometimes there are an exact revision, sometimes (most often), there are none. I'll see if there are any clear revision available. AzaToth 13:55, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
I forgot to mention that 76.221.187.73 is a sock puppet of the same person. All you have to do is look at the edit history and compare it to the other two users and you'll see the edits to the Ayaan Hirsi Ali article. It's totally your call, but appears to be the version before the editing started. This person has made well over 100 edits today to this one article. *cough*BLOCK*cough* ;=) --AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 14:02, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
You mean you suspect a COI violation? AzaToth 14:03, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm somewhat new to having a Misplaced Pages account, so I'm not sure of the details of a COI violation. I just know what sock puppet and 3RR violations are until i get more familiar with the site. lol. sorry if that made me sound like an idiot.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 14:09, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

AgnosticPreachersKid?

You mean you're the child of an agnostic preacher??? :) Baseball Bugs 13:36, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Haha, why of course! He preaches at the Church of Baseball. ;) --AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 13:40, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
You bet. And it's sockpuppets be "darned", as in "darning a sock", don'cha know. :) I've run into a few over time. You have to get an admin's attention, and they'll do something about it. Being an admin is boring, so the chance to deal with a sockpuppet is fun for them. "Amen and play ball" works in the Church of Baseball. Alternatively, you have the Star-Spangled Banner followed by "Play ball!" as in the old days, or "Back after these messages" nowadays. Baseball Bugs 13:56, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Dealing with sockpuppets can be exasperating, but once you've vanquished them, it's a good feeling, kind of like stomping on a cockroach. But like a stomped cockroach, sometimes they survive to breed and multiply. Baseball Bugs 13:59, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Thank God for Raid.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 14:00, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Or even for RAID.

Burning

Yes, it's true all sinners will burn in hell. Fortunately, given Global Warming, it won't be too much of a change. That reminds me... Falwell had wanted to be cremated, but the Fire Marshall nixed it due to an ordinance restricting the size of fires. That's too bad, as he could have made a significant dent in his school's energy bill for a month or so. Baseball Bugs 14:48, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

When I met Jerry, I shook his hand. He was very nice and friendly. While I was shaking his hand, I thought to myself "Wow, what a nice guy." Then I snapped out of it and realized he thinks I helped cause 9/11. --AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 14:56, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
There's the impersonal and there's the personal. I'm sure he was just fine on a personal level. When Jim Bouton wrote Ball Four, sportswriter Dick Young called his kind "social lepers". When Bouton questioned him, he said, "I hope you didn't take it personally," thus providing the title for Bouton's next book. Baseball Bugs 16:59, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

We are a growing community of Misplaced Pages editors dedicated to identifying, categorizing, and improving articles of interest to the LGBT community. Some points that may be helpful:

  • Our main aim is to help improve LGBT-related articles, so if someone asks for help with an article, please try your hardest to help them if you are able.
  • Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
  • The project has several ongoing and developing activities, such as article quality assessment, peer review and a project-wide article collaboration, all of which you are welcome to take part in. We also have a unique program to improve our lower quality articles, Jumpaclass, so please consider signing up there.
  • If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to our translation section, to help us improve our foreign LGBT topics.
  • If you're planning to stay, have a square in our quilt! You can put anything you want in it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again - Welcome!

Georgia flag

Hey APK, I thought I'd let you know that for the flag of Georgia, you have the flag of Georgia (country), rather than that of Georgia (U.S. state). :) Aleta (Sing) 04:16, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Thank you my dear. I'll fix it now.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 04:19, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
You're welcome! Aleta (Sing) 04:28, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Whups, Greenville....my bad

Hey man, glad you picked up on the error! I've been through the SC town and didn't realize there was also a Greenville, NC....hence I leaped to a mistaken conclusion. Also, didn't realize you were working on GA status, or I wouldn't have messed with the article at all. Good luck with that! :o) Textorus (talk) 02:59, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Formatting References

Hi, you would do well to start using a cite format every time you add a reference. This will help others see the quality of the citation as well as date when this information was on the page in question. In this way we can use an online archive to access the content even if his website were to disappear. Click edit to see formatting appearance in articles.

Please note - access date format 2007-06-16. Benjiboi 08:02, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

  1. Sullivan, Andrew (1 February 2008). "The Dish At The Atlantic". Associated Press. Retrieved 2008-02-01. {{cite web}}: Check date values in: |date= (help); Cite has empty unknown parameter: |coauthors= (help)
I'm not quite familiar with that kind of sourcing, so I'll have to read up on it. I just know how to insert the reference tab that is shown and pasting the URL. I didn't know there was another way to cite a source.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 08:18, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Well I mainly use the one above as it covers the vast majority of references and you just fill in each section. Instead of just putting ref tab I copy and paste the above and fill in the blanks. Benjiboi 09:05, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Ok, gracias mi amigo.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 09:07, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

HRC

Feel free to use this one. :P - ALLSTAR 09:47, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Beat you to it. That was one of my first userboxes I added. I walked past their headquarters on 17th street this afternoon and I immediately thought of that userbox. :) --AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 09:51, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Jay

I hope you don't think I'm being a dick. That's just one of my pet peeves...labelling gay people that don't want to be known as "the gay" person. People that prefer to be labelled or known for being gay is cool with me, just not people that don't like it. But yeah, I think the rewrite Leibovits suggested is ok as well...if that info has to be included.

p.s. I use to live in Pensacola and I made my way to Mobile, Biloxi, and New Orleans all the time. I remember reading you're a Mississippian and wondered if you ever went to Pensacola for the Memorial Day weekend festivities, or more importantly, Southern Decadence? I went to S.D. one time and almost got pregnant, so I did not return.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 08:36, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
All of the magazine interviews he's been in, many he proudly hosts on his own web site, have sections where he talks about being out and gay - which doesn't give much weight to the notion that he doesn't want to be labelled or be known for being gay. Granted, being gay is not *just* who any of us are but he's made sure to mention it a bijillion times so why can't it be mentioned in an article about him on Misplaced Pages? It just doesn't make sense to me.
Yes, I've been to the festivities in Pensacola. Once, and that was enough for me. The oil slick in the ocean from all the hair spray, hair gel and infinite brand names of lube was enough to give Greenpeace a stroke. As for S.D., I lived in New Orleans for 3 years and *did* get pregnant there! But I put a ring on my baby's daddy and made him pack his bags and move to Beverleeeee.. err, Mississippeeeee. :P - ALLSTAR 08:43, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
I agree with your analysis of the oil-slicked ocean. The Emerald Coast was more like the Eros Coast. You were lucky to locate your baby's daddy. I've made 7 appearances on the Maury Povich show to find out the DNA results of my baby's potential fathers...but I have yet to locate the proper trick. Banging 27 guys in one weekend was awesome probably a bad idea.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 08:52, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
27 a bad idea? No, just 1 or 2 would have been a bad idea. 27 is one hell of a party and I would have liked to have seen the pics! - ALLSTAR 08:56, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
thank god i didn't have a digital camera back then...not because of blackmail worries, but because i'd be posting them all over manhunt. remind me at some point to fill you in on some of the S.D. stories. hint: if you screw on the balcony of OZ, you WILL get beads...lots of them.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 09:04, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

..he says as if I don't already know. lol You'll get a lot of things if you screw on the balcony of OZ, not just beads. :P - ALLSTAR 09:10, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

I love crab cakes. Ohhhhh, wait a sec. That article is talking about something else.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 09:14, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Belated Welcome and interrogation at the same time

Cute userpic! A man after my own heart. :-P My pic illustrates the same-sex marriage article (I'm the dorky little shrimp). By the way, where did you learn to speak Dutch? Why did you learn to speak Dutch? A useless language (well, I suppose compared to sanskrit it has its uses) which I only learned as an act of survival. And welcome to Misplaced Pages...you can replace me when I go bat shit crazy and run screaming from this site in frustration. I'm sure it won't be long now. Jeffpw (talk) 17:25, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome and interrogation. As long as no waterboarding occurs, interrogate all you like. I was pulling your chain btw. I don't speak Dutch. I was using freetranslation.com and it was difficult trying to come up with a sentence that translated properly. I've only been on this site for a few weeks and I've already come close to going bat shit crazy.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 19:22, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, if you're looking for anything to do (for stress relief, or whathaveyou), you can always take over the LGBT newsletter. I help Miss Julie put it together, but word on the street is she's taking a new gig on Fantasy Island, so the February issue might be her last. If you're interested, let me know and I'll show you some back issues and what to do to make a newlsetter people actually read. Jeffpw (talk) 21:24, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
I envy her gig on Fantasy Island. I might be interested in doing that. What all goes into the process?--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 10:33, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Navy Yard/Near Southeast

I need some feedback on the article I worked on this morning, Navy Yard/Near Southeast I changed it alot and would appreciate the feedback. Gracias mi amigos/amigas.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 19:26, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

Wasn't this a predominantly gay/ghetto area that got wiped out in the name of "redevelopment"? - ALLSTAR 22:00, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
It was definitely a ghetto area, and yes there were several gay bars there. Two strip clubs, a bathhouse, porn shop, and 4 or 5 clubs. Nation was one of the largest clubs (gay or hetero) between NYC and Atlanta. I also just realized there's an article for Nation and I'm going to add it in a bit.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 23:13, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
I added the LGBT reference. I feel like there should be at least another sentence or two, but I'm not sure what to say. It was definitely a big social area before the places were torn down for the new stadium. I added a reference for Nation...if you look at my user page and click on the link below "R.I.P. Nation" you'll see a viode clip from the closing night. One of the best nights I've ever had (not because it was closing)...sooo much fun.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 07:33, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Now Read This

You can consider it whatever you want to consider it ,If it do not have a reliable source I will take it out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.104.238.191 (talk) 07:39, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

1) it's "does" not do 2) you can take it out all you want, but a government website is a reliable source, i will put it back and will take further action if you keep removing referenced material 3) we're talking about the population of a city, don't be so damn dramatic--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 07:52, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
I've already told you on the talk page that this is a reliable source. I have tried to explain to you that the number HAS A REFERENCE. Stop saying "it needs a reference" in the edit summaries of your reverts. I'm not sure what your issue is with constantly changing the population stats, but it needs to stop. You've been warned about making unhelpful edits and vandalism before.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 08:03, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
I tried to read it. I really did. It seems to be one sentence, but the grammar is so awful I can't even get close. I hope you've helped the poor AnonIP out? Perhaps right out of Misplaced Pages? -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 15:56, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
I laughed when I read that. Thanks SatyrTN. I needed it today. --AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 17:04, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Also, I noticed that you have said you were in gay porn, and I was wondering whether you might consider identifying your porn identity. I understand if you don't want to - I'm just curious. Best, Jay*Jay (talk) 11:15, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

I played Debbie in 'Debbie Does Dallas.' It was before my surgery. Ok, so maybe I lie. I'd rather not give out any info when it comes to that stuff. :-)

LOL - well then, I definitely haven't seen any of your work! Debbie doing Dallas doesn't do anything for me. BTW, thanks - you made me smile, which is definitely a step up on the rest of today.  :) Jay*Jay (talk) 11:29, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Come to think of it, I wasn't even born when Debbie came out. I'm glad I could make you smile. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 11:46, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

I just checked the release date - 1978 - so I can't quite say the same, unfortunately. I really must be getting way old. :( Jay*Jay (talk) 12:08, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Hawk Watcher

I am sorry that you feel like it is vandalism, but if it is wrong or have no source I will take it out. PS I will also be watching you like a Hawk also. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.104.238.191 (talk) 00:38, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

How many goddamn times does someone have to tell you that a reference has been given...a reference that is a government website. Don't be so stubborn and just admit you are wrong in this situation and leave it at that. I'm done arguing about such a petty thing. Watch me all you want, but I'm not the one who has warnings all over his talk page. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 10:15, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Werdnawerdna

In response to your request for me to add citations to the addition I made to the Washington D.C. paragraph about the 2002 Snipers earlier this month, I feel sure that I don't need to enter any, as the additions that I added to it are a matter of common knowledge, and the info I added is easily confirmed via the archives of many news sites. In addition, good citations are given on the Misplaced Pages page Beltway sniper attacks, which I linked to. Though the majority of those serial shootings did not actually take place within D.C., they were centred on that city, and they are strongly associated with it, to the extent that the Muhammad and Malvo are very often referred to as the Washington snipers. For the article to be complete, the info I added, incuding a link to the aforementioned serial killings must be included in the History portion of the article as they are, unfortunately, a major part of the U.S. capital's recent history. If you still think I need to add any citations, please tell me exactly what I need to prove. I only started editing Misplaced Pages last month (January 2008). Werdnawerdna (talk) 19:41, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Someone already corrected your mistakes and citations were needed for what you added. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 18:25, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Brokeback

Can you go back and look at your edit after mine on the Brokeback Mountain page? My intent was to remove all the horrible and even merely misguided things put in there, and I think in trying to revert to something before the vandalism you accidentally put some stuff back in: "Gyllenhaal himself took the opinion that Ennis and Jack were *homosexual* men who "develop this love, this bond," also saying in a Details magazine interview: "I approached the story believing that these are actually two *disturbed* guys who fall in love." Still others stated that they felt the characters' sexuality to be simply ambiguous. Clarence Patton and Christopher Murray said in New York's Gay City News that Ennis and Jack's experiences were metaphors for "many men who do not identify as gay or even queer, but who nevertheless have *dirty* sex with other men". Manyanswer (talk) 20:05, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. I tried to go back through the history and revert to the last version before vandalism was inserted, but it's difficult with this article since it's constantly changed. Look over it and let me know if there are still problems. Thanks. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 20:14, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your work on this. I've requested semi-protection. Perhaps the death of one of the stars has brought the vandals out of the woodwork. --Tony Sidaway 20:40, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Glad I could help. It's on the LGBT watchlist, so I'll try to keep a look-out for vandalism as best I can. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 20:44, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

By the way, Manyanswer, I want to make it plain that I recognise that you made your edit out of conviction and you're not a vandal. My comment wasn't a reference to your edit. --Tony Sidaway 20:58, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

No worries on either count. I've been watching the page, since there are two problems, one, vandalism and two, misunderstanding of the context that makes people switch around the sexualities! It's definitely hard to resolve it all (I couldn't which is why I suggested you try, APK!) But I'll take another look now. Manyanswer (talk) 05:08, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Removing the Videography of Rick Pantera

We understand fully the guidelines of the structure within the community of this organization. If you intend to limit the accuracy of the Videography within the Rick Pantera information then you must also limit the Videography information presented for Kip Noll, Randy White, Jason Tyler, Bobby Madison, Blade Thompson, Brent Everett, Sergio Canali, Jack Wrangler, and hundred other adult performers. When, if, ,and or, until the countless other Videography or limited we intend to provide equal coverage for Adult performer Rick Pantera. thank you World News International (talk) 23:06, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Placing this on the article talk page and my user page isn't necessary. The talk page is there for a reason, and I replied there. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 23:08, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
I replied at my talk page; there really was no need to put it all three places. :) Aleta (Sing) 23:12, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
I guess 'news bulletins' need to be everywhere...oh, wait. ;-) AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 23:14, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Oh boy, here it goes... What a mess. The way "they" are talking, I wonder if it really is some kind of role account or if it is just one person. BTW, I've asked a question about the image that Glenn Patrick Glenn posted. It says self-made, but it appears to be a screenshot from a television program, so I doubt he really owned the copyright to be able to release it into the public domain. Aleta (Sing) 04:09, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Notice on his user talk page how he mentions Brown v Board of Education, trying to make this whole discussion somehow legally relevant? Invoking Brown and speaking in legal jargon is rather sad...I hope it doesn't work on the admin who reviews the block. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 04:14, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
I agree. Brown v. BOE is irrelevant, but it's borderline making a legal threat, which is itself a bannable offense. Aleta (Sing) 04:17, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

FYI - WNI is now Point Nexis. Aleta (Sing) 17:19, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

I noticed that. I wonder if he's still going to continue with the "WE" language.--AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 17:26, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
My guess is yes: he did it in the request for name change. We'll see... Aleta (Sing) 17:31, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Extra video cleanup

Thanks for taking that on. I'm not going to offer to help, because like with Pantera, I wouldn't have a clue which to leave and which to remove. However, if you see other cleanup that needs to happen on the articles (esp. stuff like grammar, italicization of titles needed...) , feel free to shoot that my way and I'll work on that. Just drop a note on my talk page. Aleta (Sing) 00:50, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Spoken like a true Christian. I'm leaving this on my user page as evidence of what in-breeding and Christianty represents. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 01:45, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
I'm glad to see that the IP has been blocked, even if only temporarily. What is vile is the sort of suggestion that he made. That is truely sick. Aleta (Sing) 02:34, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, but I don't understand WP policy in regards to blocking a user for a short period of time when the evidence shows the person is only here to harass and vandalize. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 02:36, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
I don't know... I'd think comments like that one should be sufficient for immediate, permanent ban. Maybe we can't do that with IP's because they can change? Aleta (Sing) 02:40, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately, you are correct Aleta. They won't perm ban IP numbers because they could belong to anyone at anytime. - ALLSTAR 03:01, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunately, the anonymity of the Internet lets people speak their mind much more freely than they would if they were actually face-to-face with their target. I say unfortunately because it's unfortunate that it deprives us of the chance to sock them in the jaw. :) GlassCobra 03:35, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

This is true. If the anonymous people on the Internet that are hateful and rude came face-to-face with the recipients of their actions, I'm sure the chat rooms, message boards, etc. would look very different. But it's not a big deal to me...I just brush this kind of stuff off and realize how sad and confused this person's life must be to leave messages like that. Southern Decadence flashbacks are occurring in APK's head. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 03:54, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Remember that time they wrapped your nuts in an extension cord and tied it to the ceiling fan? You remove that damn fine picture of Sammy Case again, I'm gonna help you remember it! - ALLSTAR 03:56, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Not really...after I swallowed those mints you gave me, I didn't remember much. That image is copyrighted beeotch. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 03:59, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Yes, copyrighted, but uploaded under fair use. - ALLSTAR 04:01, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Who came up with that name? Some freak actually expects people to be able to pronounce "Flunitrazepam"?!? Without laughing!?!?!! -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 06:16, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
I think the person who came up with that name had taken the pill at the time. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 06:41, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

List of male performers in gay porn films

I know I'm going to get hate mail for removing sections of the videographies in the articles, but after the whole Talk:Rick Pantera ordeal, I see what needs to be done so the same argument doesn't occur. I already had someone revert one of my edits tonight and I'm sure it won't be the last. If some of you people that monitor the LGBT watchlist would help make sure reverts aren't occuring, I'd appreciate it. I've finished with A-I and I'll work on the rest later...this bitch is tired. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 06:48, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey APK, I suggest you post about this at WT:P*, since it's that project's standards you're using, and it seems reasonable to refer critics of your work to discuss it there. If they don't like the standard, that's where they should try to change it, not with you as an individual. Aleta (Sing) 22:49, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
I'm one of the participants in WT:P* and I would suggest you take a look in the archives of the Talk page regarding discussions about the "six film" rule. It's been a source of contention in the past, and it's probably still a valid issue of discussion. Look here, here and here for three of the discussions we had on the topic... there may be more which escape my memory. Mind you the talk at the time was geared toward the breeder side of the market. <G> Tabercil (talk) 02:19, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the links. I'm not trying to be an ass about all of this, but I agree with the discussions in those links that an entire list of porn movies isn't needed since most of the films aren't really noteworthy. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 02:23, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Link removal

I have partially undone some of your link removal work on the François Sagat per WP:EL's first clause under What should be linked: "Articles about any organization, person, web site, or other entity should link to the official site if any." Tabercil (talk) 00:56, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

I reverted and see my edit summary for an explanation. Thanks. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 00:59, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
And I rolled right back again. I would also like to point out the first line of text in the "Links to be Avoided" section of WP:EL: "Except for a link to a page that is the subject of the article or an official page of the article subject..." (emphasis mine) Tabercil (talk) 01:09, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
So links containing porn and that advertises videos by the porn actor that require someone to verify their age even before viewing is considered appropriate for WP? AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 01:11, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Actually, that probably does come under the WP:NOT#CENSORED clause. Aleta (Sing) 01:27, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Nice Ass , Get in the truck

What? - ALLSTAR 03:59, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

So I just noticed this...I'm slow tonight. I don't ride in trucks...just Beamers. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 04:50, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

ATTENTION! APK is in a very good mood now. He got laid. All WP arguments and drama cannot affect him this evening, so bitch away at me for my edits. Thank you. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 03:05, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

File:Resilient-silver.png The Resilient Barnstar
I award you the Resilient Barnstar for finally getting laid! Now maybe you'll stop removing images of hot gay twink porn stars from their related articles.
- ALLSTAR 03:22, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

HA. That image was removed automatically today! I just sped up the process yesterday. It's ok though...APK loves his barnstar. Loves it! Gracias Mr. ASE. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 03:26, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Jan Novak

Did you notice that's apparently an autobiography? Then someone else apparently tried to clean it up some. Aleta (Sing) 04:06, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes, someone tagged with COI earlier in the edit history, but it was removed. I noticed the username when he was adding his name to porn actor articles. I don't think it's noteworthy, but if I nominate it for deletion, the porn queens will bitch at me again. Feel free to do it if you think it's not noteworthy. The external links were pointless. It was to an IMD profile that didn't exist, a blog that wasn't really a blog, and a porn site that required registration. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 04:10, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Interesting. I cleaned up some of the mess, but nothing significant, mostly formatting type issues. I might have another look at it, or not. Aleta (Sing) 04:13, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Now now Kid, if he meets WP:FUGLY, then he should be deleted. Unlike Pierre Fitch who meets WP:HOTTIE. - ALLSTAR 04:52, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
He looks like a bottom. Screw him. (pun half-intended) AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 04:54, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Notice WP:FUGLY now works. Feel free to edit. lol - ALLSTAR 05:22, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Let the fun begin. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 05:27, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Six Films

I noted your edit and comments with respect to Van Darkholme. I have no problem with the policy that you linked to, or your having applied it. What I wondered is if, when you're making that kind of edit, perhaps you could leave the earliest and latest entry as two of the six films? That would give some kind of indication of the duration of the career of the individual concerned. It just seemed to me that that would be more informative, rather than editing the list down to the most recent six. Just a thought, and feel free to proceed as you wish. Accounting4Taste:talk 06:13, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Ok, good idea. Thank you. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 06:15, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Very fast response, and thanks for making the change. In return I'll bear the six-film policy in mind when I'm assessing articles in terms of WP:PORNBIO, and thanks for bringing it to my attention. Cheers -- Accounting4Taste:talk 06:22, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Quick question...does this article seem notable to you? It was made a few days ago, apparently by Jan Novak himself. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 06:25, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Sorry to butt in, but offhand, I would say he is notable by meeting the first specific criteria of notability for porn stars by virtue of the GayVN Award nomination and the Grabby win. Tabercil (talk) 06:38, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
That's true...thanks for butting in. ;-) AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 06:39, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

(exdent) I didn't see this until later, sorry -- I agree with User:Tabercil about the awards. I also think that someone gets the credit for inventing the Bel Ami school of gay porn, and it might be this individual -- truly I have no idea, Jan Novak, William Higgins, whoever -- but that person would be responsible for a sub-genre and thus notable. Welcome back, and thanks for the cookie. Accounting4Taste:talk 20:23, 23 February 2008 (UTC) In doing a search for an image to see if Jan Novak passed WP:FUGLY, I came across Johan Volny who passes WP:HOTTIE. Just felt I should say.. lol - ALLSTAR 06:50, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

OMG, we finally agree on someone that is cute. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 06:52, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Church this week

File:ChurchsignAPK.jpg
Praise Jeebus!!

I just finished the sign at my church. I hope all of you sodomites can come.

Quote of the day

In reference to gay porn movies: " a newer art form that is yet to be fully understood as a window into alternative cultures" - Benjiboi

1) new - nothing new about gay porn movies

2) art form - that's debateable

3) fully understood - i'm pretty sure we all understand them; we watch, J/O, and turn it off

4) window into alternative cultures - someone needs to clean the glass cause there's a spot or two; basically, i guess the implication is gay porn represents what gay guys are all about

retired

(i've returned...obviously)

Umm, you get back here! The Gay cabal does not allow retiring! - ALLSTAR 17:58, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

I worked with you for the first time only yesterday, but I have been aware of your hard work and contributions in the past. I hope you can treat the next while as a Wiki-break and find the spirit of public service again, or whatever reason you had for giving your time here in the first place. Accounting4Taste:talk 18:55, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey APK, I sure hope this is temporary. I know things can be frustrating on here, and sometimes you need to take a break. Even though you've only been here a short while, you've been very active and have a lot to contribute to the project. Maybe after a break, you can focus on the things that really interest you and avoid those that don't. Don't let it make you crazy! Hugs, Aleta (Sing) 20:35, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
HEY! Hey! hey..
Did you know WikiPages could echo?

The Spinner/Pimpin' Barnstar
I hereby award you the Spinner Barnstar cuz you're pimp

Yay!

Welcome back! Wanna? :P - ALLSTAR 00:34, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Sure...grab the stuff. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 00:35, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Woo woo! Thas what I'm talkin' bout! :] - ALLSTAR 00:40, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

On a side note, this video made me go tinkle all over myself the first time I watched it. I hope it brings each and every one of you little pieces of sunshine and razor blades in your life. I literally LOL every time I watch it. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 00:45, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Welcome back!

Welcome back, APK! Aleta (Sing) 01:08, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Muchas gracias mi amiga bonita. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 01:10, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
You're most welcome! :) (Now don't do that again! :P ) Aleta (Sing) 01:18, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, welcome back, APK. I was afraid we would have to send out the search cats for you and haul you back. Feel better now? — Becksguy (talk) 16:02, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. The doctors gave me some happy medicine for my Wikistress. I kid, I kid. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 16:10, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Question

Does my talk page need to be archived...or should I wait a while? AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 22:48, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

I wouldn't worry about it. You could set it up with MiszaBot if you wanted to, with a 30 day timeframe. But you could also just delete everything - it's all in the history of the page anyway :) -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 23:57, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

The Mail

The article was around the time of the Sydney Olympics. I can't find an archive on the Daily Mail website. It was written by a guest writer (possibly Peter Hitchens), and that may mean the Mail does not have copyright. FWIW, the Daily Mail cannot be considered a reliable source on LGBT issues, and I would doubt its quoted statistic for rapist sentencing. Its comparison of a maximum sentence for hate-speech with an average sentence for rape is obviously misleading. It is exceedingly rare for a maximum sentence to be given for a non-violent crime in England and Wales. The Mail's attitude to criminal justice could be reasonably accurately described as "hang 'em and flog 'em", It also has a long history of opposing equalities legislation, and of publishing highly POV and inflammatory articles about pretty much all minority groups (though they did abandon their support for Hitler with the outbreak of the Second World War).

As for freedom of speech - the traditions in Britain and the United States do differ considerably. In Britain we have developed a legal framework to deal with what could be described as "incitement to hatred" - which is rather a different thing from the reasoned expression of opposition or criticism. We already have offences of inciting racial hatred, and this has been extended to inciting religious hatred. The proposed legislation relating to sexuality aims broadly to extend similar measures to the incitement of hatred based on sexuality (though as I understand it religious groups are likely to have some degree of exemption, as they already do in relation to human rights law). In this context, I think it is interesting to compare the way in which British and American law differ in their approach to "private membership organizations". In the USA, such organizations are largely free to practice discrimination based on religion or sexuality (the Boy Scouts of America is a good example of this). In Britain, such discrimination is normally illegal, though there may be exemptions related to the primary religious purposes of an organization; for example, it is legal for a church to deny ordination to gay men if its doctrines require it, but that church cannot legally decline to employ gay men as e.g. teachers in its schools (many state schools in the UK are run by the Church of England or the Roman Catholic Church). Such schools would also be subject to the Human Rights Act, as they are operating as agents of the state, and so would be required to adhere to the convention principles as well as to all other applicable pubic law.

I do tend to agree with you about the comments which were the initial cause of the thread - I think they are distasteful and wrong, but as they stand not hate-speech. DuncanHill (talk) 13:03, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

Wikinews

If you are really interested, I think I a better place to start on Wikinews is the Research Desk page I wrote: Go here. It's meant to be more inspiring as to what you can write about, and where you can put it. You're a good looking guy in that photo - I'm sure you can get your foot in the door to a lot of places. If I can help, let me know. I have an outstanding promise from Andrew Sullivan that I would be willing to give to you. --David Shankbone 05:40, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

I read Andrew's blog religiously. I don't always agree with him (it's usually not a good sign to agree with someone on every issue), but I appreciate his views. Let me check out this link you inserted. AgnosticPreachersKid (talk) 05:42, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

My 'sweet'

APK, thanks for the sweet. Rest assured that I have not formed a bad impression - we just disagree, and probably not by as much as you think. I am a strong advocate of free speech, which is why I would not and did not ask that Aminz's comments be removed; instead, they should be challenged. However, free speech is not a limitless concept. Speech inciting both hatred and violence against any group is unacceptable, and deserves censure and (in serious cases) gaol. In any event, discussion and debate - even robust debate, which is frowned on her per WP:CIVIL - are an essential part of a healthy and vibrant society.
Having said that, I do feel the need to take issue with you on one point. In providing me with sweets, you have given me only half a meal. Where is the gorgeous piece of meat to have afterwards? I am feeling deprived. ;-) Jay*Jay (talk) 13:22, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
