Priorities

OK. I said I might have to start setting priorities. I hereby do so. This is not to say that I'll necessarily spend all my time on the identified priorities; and priorities can change. But it should help me feel more organized. General priorities: (a) start with mainspace edits; (b) urgent things; (c) organizing my priorities; (d) responsibilities; (e) learning; (f) editing (g) other (??).

Usual priorities

  1. Start with some mainspace edits
  2. Answer messages
  3. SEWQ_rc
  4. Re-order to-do list (order to-do's in priority order; list page move guidelines)
  5. WT:Huggle
  6. Water supply and sanitation in Colombia for Kerres
  7. CSD templates general, articles, images and other
  8. Chiropractic
  9. read policies
  10. Circumcision
  11. Safavid art
  12. Items on to-do list
  13. Other
  14. RL. RL. RL. You know – "real life". That thing out there. The collection of all the things, activities, people, circumstances and stuff that prevents most of us from editing Misplaced Pages 24 hours a day. :-)

At other times

  1. Easy items on to-do list
  2. recent changes
  3. 1000 new pages
  4. XfD: AfD, tx MfD
  5. helpdeskhelpme's

Easy to-do

  • Done Vitamin C sentence re kidney stones (Feb. 22) and claim re racemic mixture (Feb. 26).
  • Done Edit sentence re insulin index in Carbohydrate as per my message on Talk:Carbohydrate after waiting from Feb. 17.
  • Codex alimentarius: re-instate Bridging the Great Divide article as per talk, after waiting from Feb. 15
  • Healthy diet: edit as per Zeroin147's comments on talk page
  • Find out how to do redirects on French Misplaced Pages; Acides gras essentiels --> Acide gras essentiel

To do

to make sure nothing is left out. Compare also with Pauling and other references. Add references. Find out amounts ...

Items set aside (probably won't do or don't have time for)

  • Translation page: Look at translated articles; put links to the french version (in bibliography and language tag.) If it says completed, move it to completed.
  • Add links among English nutrient articles
  • More redirects: interlinguistic* to Interlanguage links. Also: put disambiguation on latter page re Babel.
  • post at WT:NOR
  • Complete someone's proposed merge at Linear elasticity
  • User:Acps110's template (already gave help anyway, Acps110 seems satisfied)
  • lengthen lead of Circumcision and law

Policies

Misplaced Pages policies are marvelous. In organization and style they are logical, readable and concise. In content they are designed to prevent problems in the maximum number of situations. A few contain rough spots: the exeption that proves the rule, an invitation to participate in wiki editing and in the further evolution of the policies. Misplaced Pages policies are probably among the most thoroughly edited documents in human history.

(Dates shown are simply dates on which I read or re-read the policies.)

Possible projects

Delayed edits

At female genital cutting: possibly say something like "The terms "clitorectomy" or "clitoridectomy" are also used for some forms of the procedure."

Re Reproductive rights: Here's a quote from the Times article, which is already a footnote in the men's issues paragraph, which provides a balancing point of view on that issue and could perhaps be used in the article: "Franz says that she is, of course, in favor of both parents' taking responsibility for a child, an impulse that she says legal abortion has undermined. One obvious problem, if men can sever their financial ties to unwanted children, is what becomes of that child, particularly as states cut back on health care and social services." (Wanda Franz, president of National Right to Life, quoted here.)

RR: P. 22 "the 'right-to-life' movement had expanded internationally" (from JSTOR Studies in family planning article)

Page mergers/deletions:

Have put formal notice:

(Note that Non-violent child discipline also contains overlapping material)

  • DONE put mergeto tag on Domestic violence against men 2006 nov 11 (someone else put the tag on Domestic violence; I completed the pair of tags). Andrew c carried out the merge on Nov. 16, 2006.
  • Nov 24 2006 put expert template on Fatty acid metabolism re someone changed chemical equations without explanation.

Have put informal notes:

  • Have put informal note on Domestic discipline (lifestyle) suggesting deletion of page
  • Have put informal note? re merging the for/against arguments sections of Spanking and Corporal Punishment
  • Have put informal note on Corporal Punishment page re merging a number of other pages (Child Discipline, Spanking, Paddle (Spanking)). Maybe put formal merge proposals and/or put informal notes on the other pages?
  • Have put informal note in "Domestic violence" talk page in Neutrality section asking if it's OK to remove the neutrality banner. Nov. 13 2006; check back later.
  • On "Vitamin" talk page: "Mind control" re a sentence

Message to new (non-IP?) editors; link to overcategorization

Hi. Thanks for contributing to Misplaced Pages and editing ]. That page is controversial and is edited a lot, so when you want to make a change (unless it's obviously good, like fixing a spelling mistake) then please first describe your change on the talk page ] and give the reasons for it, and wait to see what other people say about it. I suggest you take the changes you made already, describe them on the talk page and give the reasons, and then people will discuss them. If you make a change and someone reverts it, then you need to talk about it on the talk page -- not make the change again without talking first.

Editing

  • Remove weasel words from "nonviolence" page
  • Somewhere, explain about the 5 landmark studies (Straus etc.)
