Freefoto.com images

Thanks for uploading the Acela images; unfortunately their license does not seem to allow for use on Misplaced Pages, and even if it was OK under the noncommercial area, that type of license is not being used here due to the inability to transfer to other projects that may come out of WP. If you can find any Acela photos on http://www.trainweb.com/ , those are OK (tag the images with {{trainweb}}).

Hello. Please note: the section heading above is correct, according to Misplaced Pages conventions, but "Brief Filmography", with a capital "F", is not. See Misplaced Pages:Manual of Style. Hello Great Scott,

I just spoke with Mr. Wool at Misplaced Pages.

Since I am pretty much clueless about the Internet and Misplaced Pages, he helped me walk through the process to get to this point.

I am a newspaper columnist. I interviewed Bill Scranton a few days ago. When I read the paragraph pasted below to him, he denied that he supported Dr. Hagelin in 2000.

May I ask where you found that information? I have no idea if Mr. Scranton is being straightforward or not. Any help you could offer would be most appreciated.

Mr. Wool suggested that I spell my e-mail address instead of writing it the normal way.

If you would respond, please send the information to dvassilaros at tribweb dot com

Or if you wish, you could reach me at 412-380-5637. I am in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Or if you wish I would be happy to call you.

Thank you. Dimitri Vassilaros

"Scranton supported John Hagelin, the Natural Law Party candidate and fellow transcendental meditation practitioner, in the 1992 and 2000 presidential elections, but supported President George W. Bush in the 2004 presidential campaign."

Sources for Isaac Ellmaker Hiester

Hello, some time ago you added a fair bit of content to Isaac Ellmaker Hiester. As you may be aware, we are currently trying to improve Misplaced Pages's verifiability and reliability by making sure articles cite the sources used to create them. Do you remember what websites, books, or other sources you used to add content to Isaac Ellmaker Hiester? Would it be possible for you to mention them in the article? See WP:CITET for some quick templates to use for citing sources. Thanks! --best, kevin 22:08, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Cake eaters/List of ethnic slurs

Could you supply a citation for the "cake eaters" edit? I am trying to reference this list, as per WP:V and WP:CITE. Thanks. Guettarda 06:32, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Flemish_cap.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Flemish_cap.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Misplaced Pages because of copyright law (see Misplaced Pages's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Misplaced Pages are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you have questions about copyright tagging of images, post on Misplaced Pages talk:Image copyright tags or User talk:Carnildo/images. 10:12, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

Possibly unfree Image:BMWbike.jpg

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:BMWbike.jpg, has been listed at Misplaced Pages:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is disputed. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Unforgiven dvd.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Unforgiven dvd.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Misplaced Pages and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Quentin X 16:49, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Image:Schweiker.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Schweiker.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Misplaced Pages articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok 01:19, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:October sky dvd.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. Fair use rationale for Image:Plymouthlogo.jpg

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MiltonShapp.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:MiltonShapp.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 17:22, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Oak Hill photograph

Hi Great Scott -- Nice job creating Oak Hill (plantation) back in 2004. I and others are just now developing List of National Historic Landmarks in Virginia, reviewing all articles on NHLs in VA such as this one, and will be adding more info to the article, in particular adding NRHP / NHL info and related sources. However, a photograph you uploaded back in 2004, Image:OakHillfront.jpg , appears to be not in compliance with copyright policy. Although the photo appears on a National Park Service website, it is credited to another entity and is not in the public domain, per the NPS copyright policy statement. See Misplaced Pages:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places#some but not all National Park Service photos are public domain for some more information including link to the NPS copyright policy. I wonder if you would agree now that the photo should be deleted and request its deletion yourself. We are pretty successful about obtaining new photographs of historic places, so I imagine that a temporary gap in illustration of this nice article will be filled in a relatively short time. doncram (talk) 15:26, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
