Skiing in Lebanon
Thank you for your advice but myself and some other people working on the topic are tired with this. We give up. Some editors know better than we do how wikipedia works and for some reason are vandalizing our work. Lebprofiler (talk) 23:46, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Lebprofiler
Trouble Sleeping
I can help you with this if you like then maybe you can sleep instead of attacking me :-). I am serious about the offer to help - you are being disturbed by something called Jinn and there are methods for stopping this from happening. It is not a medical condition as you may think. For starters place red and purple (cloth) near your head at night as these colors have a calming effect on the Jinn. The rest you may contact me if interested. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JamesMMc (talk • contribs) 21:05, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Quick to Act
You seemed to punce on the subject of Onion Juice Therapy with noe apparent expertise on the subject whatsoever. You have nonetheless made a valid point that there was no refrence and that has been fixed as seen below.
Onion Juice Therapy has been prescribed for hundreds of years by natural practioners such as Sufi healers. Evidence for the long history of onion juice therapy in fighting cancer can be found in books like Natural Medicines, Traditional Sufi Healing Methods which is reprinted on the web with permission under the title Introduction to Natural Healing, .
Kindly remove your warning.
Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JamesMMc (talk • contribs) 21:40, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Winter of terror
I'm not sure I agree. The article clearly states that the avalanches are thought to be caused by climatic conditions, not geological activity. Avalanches are not studied by geologists and, since by my understanding they only travel over snow, don't even cause sedimentary deposits which a geologist might study (which would be a push for including this article in the category anyway!)
Cave diving is a tenuous one which I did consider removing but one could envisage an argument that it's a technique employed by speleologists, or that caves are geological features.
Hope you can see my point,

TopoQuest
The CSD A7 tag was added because the website name got only 9 google hits. I have listed it under afd instead. -- Roleplayer (talk) 23:02, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
Mobility
I think it can be given a non-administrative close, if you have done one before. Want to be the person that closes it? I was thinking that DHartung is right and the target for redirect should be "economic mobility".
- I'd rather have a look again if User:Kmohlenhoff doesn't improve the article by May 8th.
- At this time I am WP:GF regarding said article. Cheers, Nk.sheridan Talk 23:56, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

An Invite to join WikiProject Genetics
Hi, Nk.sheridan. You are cordially invited to join the Genetics WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Misplaced Pages's coverage of topics related to genetics. We've noticed that you have an interest in the field, and may be interested in joining Misplaced Pages's dedicated collaborative effort. We look forward to working with you in the project! – Liveste (talk • edits) 13:50, 10 May 2008 (UTC) |

I have replied to your comment at Talk:Gear Acquisition Syndrome. Cheers —Travis 02:05, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
- Like I said, I do agree that the article should go, but I use a fairly strict interpretation of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks for your understanding and your work to clean up the project! —Travis 02:20, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

- Hi there, tag is not needed, we are working on turning noted and cited red links on the Collegiate secret societies of North America page, thae articel is nominated as a"good article"- weare just putting the finishing touches. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Societyfinalclubs (talk • contribs) 23:09, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
hey there sheridan, I know it is not typical protocal, but these society pages bring alot of competion. it is just best in this case to have a clean start, there was just a mix-up and we are all better off to start it off clean, so many people have put so much work in getting these society pages where they should be. I think you understand, Thanks muchSocietyfinalclubs (talk) 00:02, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I see your point. Be aware though, that blanking talkpages is not accepted protocol. Nk.sheridan Talk 00:19, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

your helpful advice
You earlier gave some helpful advice to our young editor User:Bjaco18. In view of Misplaced Pages:Miscellany_for_deletion/Wikipedia:Requests_for adminship/Bjaco18, could you perhaps try to give him some further assistance? DGG (talk) 18:37, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, User:DGG. I see you've beaten me to that regarding his RfA page but i've given some helpful (IMO!) advice regarding uploading images and licenses which he seems to be struggling with. As you've noted User:Bjaco18 is only 12 years old which I think User:J Milburn was initially unaware of! Cheers, Nk.sheridan Talk 21:42, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
Introduction to genetics
Hi there, I've done some work on this article, to turn it into a broader introduction to a set of related and more specialized articles, such as DNA, gene and genetics. Tim Vickers (talk) 19:01, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, I noticed the work you've done on the article. It's certainly much improved! Although I really shouldn't have nominated it to begin with as I didn't really have a valid reason. cheers, Nk.sheridan Talk 20:50, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Crying in humans
You're right, the reference to periods originally referred to a period of time. Thanks for pointing that out, I will update the article.
Anyway, the book article mentions heightened emotions and more frequent crying during and before the menstrual cycle, as opposed to the inter-menstrual period. BigManFred (talk) 22:13, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Crying as DYK
Hey, there!
I've been looking for a new pet project for a while, and I've had my eyes on crying for a few months now. I've been thinking about trying to expand it in the same way I did smoking. Since you seem interested in working on this, how about we try getting the article on the mainpage as a DYK by expanding it extensively in one go? We could collaborate on a temporary page for a while and after there is enough content to expand the article fivefold or more, we could make a DYK request. The only source available to me right now is Lutz, but on the other hand, it's a very good summary of the existing research on crying.
Peter 16:22, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, sounds good to me. I have access to ScienceDirect and a fair few other useful resources including the SciAm archive from which I retrieved Why do we Cry,Walter, Chip,Source:Scientific American Mind; Dec2006, Vol. 17 Issue 6, p44, 8p,ISSN 1555-2284. If you want to create a temporary page in your userspace which we can work on that's ok with me. Cheers, Nk.sheridan Talk 23:43, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, i've created a temporary page → User:Nk.sheridan/Sandbox/Crying
- Excellent. I have three more rather busy days of school, but after that I'll have time to work on the article.

Re:Bjaco again
Yeah, I couldn't agree more- his heart's in the right place, he just isn't quite ready to be a heavy contributor to Misplaced Pages yet. Yeah- he asked whether I knew if Weird Al had an account on Misplaced Pages. In my last talk archive, less than a month's worth, there are nearly 30 headings from him- most of which are questions about being an admin, barnstars, WikiProjects and the like, rather than questions about policies and content. Just a little over-eager, which is tiring, but when combined with his refusal to take advice, becomes a little too strenuous. J Milburn (talk) 21:49, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

notability
From basic criteria:
A person is presumed to be notable if he or she has been the subject of published secondary source material which is reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject.
And
Any biography
* The person has received a notable award or honor, or has been often nominated for them. * The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in his or her specific field.
Now, like it or not I have been interviewed and published many times over the years, from radio, to newspapers, to the internet on a number a subjects, and as far away as Japan. There have been front page pictures on our National Newspaper, as well as editorials and editorial cartoons. This is all a matter of public domain.
I co-founded a FEDERAL election party, in and of itself part of the history of my country, you can't possibly believe that not to be part of the 'enduring historical record'. If you don't think that's a notable feat you start a federal level political party. My use of the internet for social activism was cutting edge at the time, and definately an innovative use of new technology. Didn't I read someplace that events notable then should maintain being notable now?
You really have no valid arguements, as this seems to be a matter of perception. Do you actually attempt to validate any of the information? There have been no peer complaints, and i'm sure there would be none either way in the ridiculous 5 day period established.
Tell you what, delete the whole page and I'll add myself to the list of Wiki detractors. I thought this was a glorious idea until a number of hours ago. It started a number of hours ago to fill in a dead link from within a wiki page. Has it dawned on you that if the original pages content was valid and notable, then the individual parts of the content should also be notable? Your logic is flawed. Your page on our ridings voting history itself contributes to the historical record of our country AND at the same time validates notability. Isn't that the entire point of wiki?!? Do you even understand my arguement?
If you see COI point it out. If you see self promotion point it out. The idea is to let it stand and be improved by others, is it not? You are not my peer in my subjects of specialty so by definition not qualified to speak on relevance. Deleting a page because of suspicion of COI or suspicion of non-notability is ridiculous, especially when the page contains supporting links.
I have not read anywhere that the original draft has to be complete by the original poster. Again, it seems to me that the business of flushing out the page should be the area of my peers and wiki users. Wouldn't it be easier to paint a picture of self promotion if I posted links to every letter, editorial, and picture of relevance of myself.
Delete it or not, I don't care anymore. Pathetic. Stambo2001 (talk) 00:11, 29 June 2008 (UTC)—Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.93.72.87 (talk) 00:01, 29 June 2008 (UTC) §§ missed the shift for tilde key
Now i've spent the last few minutes researching wiki detractors and found an interesting paragraph by a fellow named Jason Scott. It perfectly describes my experience of the last few hours and why now I'll tell people to avoid wiki. Here it is:
"This is what the inherent failure of wikipedia is. It's that there's a small set of content generators, a massive amount of wonks and twiddler, and then a heaping amount of prodecural whackjobs. And the mass of twiddlers and procedural whackjobs means that the content generators stop being so and have to become content defenders. Woe be that your take on things is off from the majority. Even if you can prove something, you're now in the situation that anybody can change it. And while that's all great in a happy-go-lucky flower shower sort of way, it's when you realize that the people who are going to change it could have absolutely no experience with the subject whatsoever, then you see where we are."
And that is where I am exactly. I began today as a potential new content generator. But then along came first a wonk and twiddler who moved me up to a procedural whackjob...neither of which have any experience whatsoever in the matter at hand(clap, clap, clap) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stambo2001 (talk • contribs) 00:32, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up- clearly a sock, and with practically no useful contributions, but sticking with Bjaco's old ways (meta nonsense, trying to get a bot, ignoring copyright, Jimbo worship, inability to spell 'you're', believing that the Misplaced Pages space needs to be filled with things about insects in Brisbane and even contacting his old account) shows that he has learnt nothing. I've blocked him, and I suspect he will request an unblock as soon as he realises. J Milburn (talk) 22:19, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
