AfD nomination of American Mongrel
I have nominated American Mongrel, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/American Mongrel. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. American mongrel
It's okay for you to refer to yourself as an "American mongrel." But when you call a notable person an "American mongrel" without any sources, it tends to look like an attack. Some people may consider it a slur. Some people may wear it with pride. Misplaced Pages already has an article on mongrel, so people can probably figure out what "American mongrel" means. But there are over 200 sovereign states in the world. Should Misplaced Pages have articles for Australian mongrel? Belgian mongrel? Canadian mongrel? If you want an article on the subject, you can find uses of the term on Google, Google News, Google Book, and Google Scholar. Is it a "newly recognized ethnic group"? A style of music? A canine society in Albuquerque? A slang term for Americans of mixed ancestry? That's a little redundant. If you want there to be an article about it on Misplaced Pages, you might be able to cite some of those sources, but other people may still consider the term a neologism or a dictionary entry unless there are reliable sources specifically about the term — not just sources which mention it briefly or use it in passing. --Pixelface (talk) 06:23, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
