:Promising is a very simplistic viewpoint! I need a clear desk and a more appropriate venue before I can promise anything. Say around Easter? It requires full comprehensive details of a matter taking place during the course of a year, from a very wide range of on- and off-site venues. It also has to fit round my work and others' work, my real life, and other historic matters, and to coincide with a family season, a new arbcom season and the start of the working year. ''Some'' people, indeed, might lazily dash off a 3 line note by way of reply to your recklessly short and simple question. That's not my way ! Now I will go check various large archives, with review item by item where a search cannot be specified, to ensure accuracy, and to ensure the balancing of that with a few overriding issues, if applicable, such as privacy of users, WMF requirements, ability to cite emails and getting permission if needed, and so on. In this case since I'm being asked about someone else's actions, that were discussed by others, and in others' emails, I'd like to be sure I've done that task carefully, so I need a few weeks to provide an unabridged statement. Can you think of a single reason a dishonest person would do so? It is an act of only high ethics and integrity. I hope this reassures. Sakshama
please unprotect the page Sakshama, when[REDACTED] is having articles for techfest, techniche and other technical fetivals. then why not a article for sakshama, a technical festival which was started from a small town of india in the year 2007 and now it is going to celebrate it's third version and it has been said as no #1 technical festival of north india. so i want to write a page for it please unprotect it. you can find more at http://sakshama.org or you can find the same communities on orkut and other social web Aashish K Mahaswary (talk) 11:21, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- You can ignore this; I have pointed the user to WP:RFPU/WP:DRV. He didn't know how to reach an admin and so left talk messages for a page-full of recent changes editors. Stifle (talk) 16:06, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Dear Bishzilla, are you sure you won't reconsider your withdrawal? America has just elected a black man. Surely green will be acceptable to wikipedia. Without you I'm just left with the usual list of little users and scant ways to express my big sulk (advice on sulking welcome, but must be better than Guy Browning's ). --Joopercoopers (talk) 19:39, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

On NWA.Rep
Hi Bishzilla. Recently you protected User talk:NWA.Rep against further editing, but now User:Swatjester blanked the page. Could you please undo that admins edits? NWA.Rep spoke of admins who have some real issues with their powers and responsibilities, and this seems like exactly the case! If you don't mind, could you also protect NWA.Rep's userpage? Swatjester and User:Gwen Gale removed content there as well, ignoring WP:BLP#Non-article space and acting like a censor.
I think it is a shame that a Wikipedian gave up after a conflict, and that some admins (not even regular editors, admins!) still can't leave him in peace. I hope you can help out. Thanks. --Soetermans | is listening | what he'd do now? 19:21, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

If you revert me I won't edit-war over this, but I think the guideline is clear. If you'll forgive my reverting you without touching base, we can discuss any disagreement.--chaser - t 02:15, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, Chaser. I guess it's not clear, in that case. The way it's formulated, "The Misplaced Pages community generally frowns upon simulating the MediaWiki interface, and it should be avoided except when necessary for testing purposes", is a compromise after a hot debate on the matter some time ago. Some people wanted the guideline to say that SMIs, such as joke message bars, are verboten, and anybody can remove them; the other faction was as strongly against such encroachment on the traditional Misplaced Pages "wide latitude to users to manage their user space as they see fit" (quoting the guideline text from a little higher up). The text finally agreed on does not say "feel free to remove them", it says the "community generally frowns upon" them. Not everybody frowns; and those who do, get to go ahead and frown, not to use brute force in the matter. "Should be avoided" is not the same as "is not allowed"; it's simply more frowning. When the matter was last made a big issue of, I argued against forcible removal, because I feel that users should not be overridden in the management of their userspace for such trivial reasons as "the joke isn't funny" (who gets to decide that, seriously?). By contrast: some users have removed content on NWA.Rep's userpage that they considered sexist or aggressively nationalist; those are non-trivial matters, and I have not restored any of it. But the New Message bar is trivial; it's really not necessary to humiliate the user further over such a thing. I'm restoring it. (I have moved this conversation to WT:USER; please respond there if you want to discuss.) Bishonen | talk 10:36, 24 November 2008 (UTC).
- Bish, I hadn't seen that there was anything on AN/I about this. However, I think you've known me long enough to know I'm not "acting as a censor" or some other nonsense, but rather attempting to remove what is clearly a personal attack and accusations against other users. Perhaps Soetermans ought to think a bit more before making ridiculous accusations. ⇒SWATJester 02:28, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Deification
I often feel uncomfortable approaching a 70 storey green lizard asking for favours so when talking to some of the pitchfork wielding grockles in the pub the other night, we decided perhaps its best to make offerings. Please accept this as a token of my esteem - suffice to say there's now a one-eyed yellow idol to the north of Kathmandu. My fit of pique has abated and I'll have some time over Christmas to look at the Queen's house properly. Would you mind undeleting User:Joopercoopers/Queen's House? Sorry about the hokey cokey. --Joopercoopers (talk) 13:11, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
- Well, JC, I see you fluttering about on the wiki as I write, so I have undeleted the above-noted page. I will, however, leave your humble offerings to our beloved Bishzilla, who no doubt will enjoy the spectacle of a one-eyed yellow idol. You could, however, pop by my page and explain to me exactly what a "grockle" is. For some reason, I imagine a rather awkward, heavyset fellow whose pants are too short. Risker (talk) 15:54, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for making 2008 an interesting and enlightening year for me; you have graciously advised me on how best to serve our community as an administrator (I believe "eating vandals" was part of your advice) and I've always found your comments amusing, helpful or thought-provoking—I'll let you guess which ones are which!
