The World Trade Center twin towers dominated the southern end of Manhattan Island. This is one of two images I personally took of the towers before 9/11...this one is from 1990...the quality is poor, but least I was able to see them, walk on the roof of the one tower and stand beneath them before they were destroyed and thousands of people were killed by a small band of psychotic madmen. I am going to be concentrating on 9/11 related articles for the forseeable future...as time goes by, the folklore cannot be allowed to replace the facts of what happened. Though I have less time to devote to this website than I used to, I want to make sure what time I do have is used to support the facts of this matter and minimize and or eliminate the superstitions.--MONGO 04:12, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

Mongo only pawn in game of life..., but I do like candy......and me unshaven.

I have pages on Commons where I usually upload my images and release them to the public domain and Meta which I rarely use.

I have an essay about why linking to harassment is BAD...please read it only if you have plenty of free time available...

Making comments about my expectations for admin candidates, including myself here.

January 18, 2009 was my four year wiki-b-day...I have over 40,000 edits...for what that is worth.

I am one of the primary editors who reinitiated the effort to get semi-protection implemented...though earlier efforts had failed to get the featured adopted, by July 2005 the rate of "drive-by vandalism" had increased so much, the effort was renewed....by December 2005, administrators had the new ability to semi-protect pages and the rate of vandalism dropped to almost zero in some cases where the semi-protection was applied.

I was previously an administrator (11/2005-12/2006), but was desysopped by the arbitration committee. In January, 2008, I was unsuccessful in my effort to regain administrative tools as shown at the Misplaced Pages:Requests for adminship/MONGO 2, where the final tally was 123 supporting, 103 opposing and 21 neutral.

Featured articles

Featured articles demand the contributions and input of numerous editors. I encourage editors to help us get more articles to featured level by helping with peer review and by making wise suggestions on featured article candidates.

Featured articles started and was a major contributor on

Template:FA Shoshone National Forest, which appeared as Today's Featured Article on January 14, 2007.

Template:FA Retreat of glaciers since 1850, which appeared as Today's Featured Article on April 18, 2006. This article is an excellent example of the collaborative spirit of Misplaced Pages. I might have started it, but without the excellent additions made by Wsiegmund, Peltoms and Lulu of the Lotus-Eaters as well as an exhaustive review by Doug Bell and others...it never would have gotten to the level it is.

Template:FA Elk was split off from the Red deer article after DNA evidence concluded it was a distinct species. I had lots of help here from a number of other editors.

Template:FA Yellowstone fires of 1988 was written to document one of the most dramatic events in National Park Service history. Much thanks to numerous editors including Bishonen for all the fine copyediting, Wsiegmund for his assistance adapting a fire progression gif and other additions and Rlevse for his fine tuning. This article appeared as Today's Featured Article on September 8, 2008.

Template:FA Pallid sturgeon Played with this article for over two years and finally with the help of others, was able to get it to featured level.

Featured articles started by others but I was a major contributor

Template:FA Redwood National and State Parks...how the article looked before rewrite, main contributor, but had a lot of assistance from others, especially Bishonen. This article appeared as Today's Featured Article on May 17, 2008.

Template:FA Glacier National Park (U.S.)...how the article looked before rewrite, major contributor along with Elkman.

Template:FA Yellowstone National Park complete update, adding inline cites, text expansion and submitted for featured article review. Originally brought to featured status by Mav and was Today's Featured Article on March 29, 2004...but that was before the update and the article will not likely be on the mainpage ever again.

Template:FA Banff National Park Though I did nominate this article for FA, all I did was work on the geology and glacier section and created some stubs to eliminate some redlined links...all the real credit goes to Aude. Was Today's Featured Article on October 15, 2006.
