I am quite happy to work or collaborate with you on anything. But Ecemaml, is a bigoted abusive troll who I will not waste my time with. He has many years hearing nonsense generated by the fascist propaganda machine in spain, and I cannot be expected to spend my days trawling through evidence to refute his lies. He is purposely creating discord, by adding "facts" which he knows full well are untrue and/or POV, just so he can have me wasting my time counteracting him. Func's RfA :)

I sure thought he was one already when he explained to me how to deal with a dispute. Eh, I was just trying to fool you! ;-)

Thank you for your support of my adminship. :)

Please never hesitate to let me know if you have concerns with any administrative action I may make.

L'Abri

Thanks for the L'Abri stub. It's been wanted for some time. — Mark (Mkmcconn) ** 16:22, 12 August 2005 (UTC)

I'm constantly surprised by how busy I can be here, at various times, and yet never cross paths with busy Wikipedians with whom I have things in common. I haven't spent a lot of time working on baseball articles, though. I'm an avid spectator, rather than a fan. And, I don't do a lot of cleanup. I obsess over Christian religion articles, mostly. :-) — Mark (Mkmcconn) ** 17:07, 12 August 2005 (UTC)

Rubik's Cube

Well that seemed a rather heartless revert. Erm, why? Flowerparty 18:15, 16 August 2005 (UTC)

Oh okay, that's fair enough. You're right about the main article thing. But I'm not sure about the current link, it's kind of buried in the text; it took me a while to find it when I was looking for it. Any ideas? Flowerparty 18:32, 16 August 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, it's better. I guess we should take it to the peer review. Flowerparty 18:53, 16 August 2005 (UTC)

Hi Spangineer,

Just to let you know that the photo Image:SMAW.welding.af.ncs.jpg that you nominated for WP:FPC is due up for Pic of the Day tomorrow. As this is a weekend, it will also be on the Main Page. Fine Example

Nathaniel: A little birdie told me how your diligent work developing the welding and vocational type articles, received special recognition in Munich. I'm not into passing around those silly barn stars n crap, so let this note serves as my acknowledgment and special recognition of your sober and steadfast work. I also noticed your home page comment expressing frustration about edit-war entrapment, and thus your renewed focus upon simple article contribution.... You are a fine example. Take care, Erin. Hi

Thanks, I'm feeling my way at the moment. Hanging around FAC and adding cultural references, as it were. And doing a lot of real world stuff, too. Filiocht | The kettle's on 12:20, 23 September 2005 (UTC)

Updated DYK query Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Carmen Boullosa, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

While we're on the subject of DYK, you're missing two things when you update the template- first the image that appears on the template should also be inlcuded in the archive listing. Second, while the image is on the template it needs a description so people can make the link between the image and the text when they mouse over the pic. Thanks. --nixie 23:57, 27 September 2005 (UTC)

I vary the number of updates with the amount of suggestions, my basic rule of thumb is to update if there are enough suggestions for two new templates waiting. Just after and just before the weekend it needs at least two updates to use up the aging suggestions - during the week it may vary between 1 or two times a day and the amount of suggestions with free images. With the amount currently there it could probably be updated again around 12:00 UTC. Adding new suggestions can speed things up if the old ones are stale, look for articles over 1500 kb in the new pages log that has an interesing hook for dyk - anything shorter than 1500 kb that is usually too short for DYK--nixie 02:09, 28 September 2005 (UTC)

WikiChristian

Hi there,

I notice that you are a Christian. Come and take a look at www.wikichiristian.org and consider contributing. It is still small and has very few users. I'm praying that God helps the site to grow and become a forum for Christians to write and read about all aspects of Christianity. It is not meant to be a copy of wikipedia. It is not meant to be purely an encyclopedia. For any given topic, it will hopefully contain a short summary of the topic followed by links to many sub-articles - some containing simple facts; some sharing experiences; some explaining a particular viewpoint and so on.

Take for example the article on grace. It has various "Definition and explanation" articles explaining the meaning of grace. It has a few "Articles / opinions" about grace. It has links for "Quotes' about grace and links to "Songs about grace". The site is also meant to be a resource site containing information about Christian texts, literature, art, music, radio, television and internet.

Take a look at the example article on the song Shout to the Lord. It has links to information about the song, lyrics and chords to the song and links for comments or opinions to be expressed about the song.

The site also intends to explain the history of important events in Christianity. Take a look at The Reformation section. This has links for "Overview" articles, "Opinion" articles, "Quotes" and "Travel" stories.

The site intends to be a reference about major (and minor) figures in the Bible, the early church and today. Take a look at John Stott. It contains "Overview" and "Opinion" articles. It contains texts of "Talks" given by John Stott and links to "Books" by John Stott.

In summary, I suppose, that my hope is that WikiChristian becomes a major reference point for Christians and non-Christians to go to find about any issue related to Christianity. I don't believe that this should be carbon-copy of wikipedia. It should resemble it in some ways, but in other ways, it should be quite different in structure and evolution. I realize that there are different views about different topics - and accordingly, there should always be the opportunity for a person to write his personal view under the "Opinion and articles" section of any given page.

I would love you to take a look at wikichristian and contribute. If you don't wish to contribute, would you consider visiting it's world wide directory of churches we are setting up and entering your church into the database. The point of the database is to state the location of a church with the service times and add a brief description of the church. You can take a look for example at: Church Directory -> Australia -> South Australia -> Adelaide -> St Matthew's Anglican Church

If you don't wish to contribute to WikiChristian, you could consider one of the other wikis related to Christianity that have been set up by other people. These include: Theopedia, Compass or OrthoxWiki.

Thanks

Graham Grove

Alfredo Oliveira

I have placed a tag on the article Alfredo Oliveira, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. I did this because the article seems to be a biographical account about a person but it does not indicate how or why that person is notable. If the person really is notable, I advise you to edit the article promptly to indicate why, and also put a note on Talk:Alfredo Oliveira. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. You might also want to read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. TIG weld

Hello Nathaniel: Sure thing about signing off the license, however I'm not so sure how exactly it is supposed to be indicated. I added written releases upon other image work.... yet noticed that it still came up short in the opinion of others.

Will this work?: "This image is offered under by the creator of both the photograph, and its subject material. TTLightningRod". Should it say something else, or more? You'll let me know.

As to my activities around here.... ya, I've been away a while for two good reasons; One, I got too wrapped up in that frustrating wikipathology. Second, I'm in the middle of a highly involved shop renewal here. Lots to be done before winter, and of the utmost importance to me. We'll have much to discuss, about vocational articles and craftsmanship, once the new equipment is up and running (Dec.). You'll have to make an effort to visit down here, it's only a two hour drive from Penn U. Take care, TTLightningRod 16:59, 4 October 2005 (UTC)

Let me know if that license 'sign-off' is the best way, if so, I'll repeat that on future uploads. I have a little time here and there... I would like to make a CAD diagram, or maybe I could photograph TIG welding somehow.... I was thinking of putting a digital camera inside a welding hood. I have no idea if that would work or not... but willing to try. Take care, TTLightningRod 13:34, 8 October 2005 (UTC)

You are a decent writer compared with most WPians. It's just that the crunch comes with these nominations. Your suggestion of getting more editors onto this is good; I can only do a few, and sometimes I'm too busy to do any. Perhaps we need a special category of, say, 'FA proofreader', to harness people's egos for this voluntary task. If you suggest it to Raul, don't say that it came from me. GTAW welding

Hi! I notice you're quite an authority on GTAW welding, and would like to ask if I may tap your expertise by asking a few questions - I'm about to buy a small DC TIG welder for a Live steam project of mine, and need to weld copper and Cu-Ni alloys. If you'd agree to this, I'd be grateful. AdThanksVance, --Janke | Talk 20:47, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the "disclaimer"! ;-) My main GTAW questions (to which I haven't been able to find an answer) are these:
  • 1. Can you join pure copper and Cu-Ni (10% Ni, 1.6% Fe, 0.9% Mn, balance Cu) and get a good join? There's bound to be a mixed composition of alloy elements in and around the weld - and it needs to be strong (stay bolts in a locomotive fire-tube_boiler).
  • 2. What amperage do you need to join 4 mm copper sheet to itself? CuNi is easy at 100 A, I've tried it. But it has a thermal conductivity only 10% of pure copper...
  • Well, that's it for now. Looking forward to hearing from you! --Janke | Talk 07:07, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

Welcome. (4836.03)

Thankyou for kindly welcoming me to Misplaced Pages. I've been writing articles anonymously for some time. (Personally I prefer to edit anonymously but some people have been using this IP for vandalism.). Therefore I know about most of the stuff like the five pillars of wikipedia etc that you put on my talk page - but thankyou anyway.

GTAW

Thanks for the Amps! ;-) If you can eventually find anything about welding Cu to CuNi, I'd appreciate if you can drop me a line - but don't go to too much trouble! I might do some experiments, myself, when I get hold of a welder, and test the strength of the joints before I weld the actual boiler... --Janke | Talk 05:57, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

Cs and As

Hey! I am the guy who has been adding the Cs and As to the NHL team pages. I didn't realize that one needed to log in as a user in order to make changes.

To answer your questions, I am getting the Cs and As from the teams websites and/or direct observations from games on television. How should I cite these, if at all?

"Do you think you can exercise some proof reading. Cleaning up your messes is getting tiresome." - What is that all about? I thought my proof reading has been fine!? Can you give me some specifics?

Yes Florida does have 4 As this year on a rotating basis. NJ has 5, Phoenix has 3, etc...

Hi Spangineer

I thought I'd alert you to the fact that User Redwolf nominated me for adminship last week, which I accepted. Regrettably, this has coincided with a stouch with several huge egos whose FAC I helped on and then critiqued after my they'd trashed my entire contribution. I normally shun conflict, but here, I'm emersed in it, and I feel utterly destroyed. One of the protagonists appears to be drumming up support for his cause on other people's talk pages.

If the nomination fails Monday night, which appears likely now since the voting balance is borderline, I'll be trashing my personal page and not returning: it's just too embarrassing and unpleasant to go on.

So, if you have the inclination, the war zone is at:

Thanks!

Request for help

Hi Spangineer. I've been given your name by another administrator, Dmcdevit. I've been involved in a certainly stupid edit war with User:Gibraltarian (and being blocked by breaking the 3RR).

The issue here is that I need third opinions with regard to what I consider as a violation of the NPOV by Gibraltarian in the articles Spain, Disputed status of Gibraltar and History of Gibraltar. IMHO, he's trying to present UK/Gibraltar POV as it were facts, removing information that he doesn't seem to like (such as the begining of the British and not Archduke's occupation of Gibraltar or the aftermath of the conquest for those who left Gibraltar and settled down in San Roque as the real Gibraltarias (as they considered themselves)) and removing Spain's position (always identified as such) with regard, for example the status of the isthmus. I've have at least four item of disagreement (but of course I don't want to be too verbose in this post).

As I've said before, there has been a (deplorable) edit war and, although I've tried to use the talk pages to support my position, no similar attitude (IMHO again) has been got from the other part (just comments such as "Ecemaml go away", "Irrelevant", "Untrue" or "Ecemaml troll should check meaning of "neutral""). Now he's reverting again anonymously. Of course that I could be also biased myself. Therefore, I'd need some help to sort out this issue. The procedures seem realy complex so that I've posted also a message in Request for Assistance to get help.

Can you somehow help me?

Best regards --Ecemaml 17:08, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

Hi Spangineer. You're right. It's a dammed nationalist conflict. Because of that, I think that both sides of the discussion should be equially shown (that's my interpretation of NPOV). I'll do as you suggest (I don't think it will be useful at all, since Gibraltarian doesn't seem to accept anything from my side). What I'd do like to ask you is some sort of supervision of the discusions. I'm really fed up of trying to talk and being answered usually with nothing more than personal attacks (breaking the wikipetiquette, I think). Can you please do that and also take a look at the history of the articles? Many thanks in advance --Ecemaml 17:08, 1 November 2005 (UTC) PD: it seems as if Gibraltarian doesn't want even to log in, but reverting anonymously.

Hi Spangineer. I'll try to stick to the points as closely as possible. As the disagreement affects to several articles, I think we'd better talk about them in just one page. Is it OK for you? --Ecemaml 20:58, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

Hi Spangineer. I've have to recognize I'm a little bit fed up. Can you please tell Gibraltarian stop personally attacking me ("troll" and things like that)? I've never been unrespectful with him but it seems he can break the wikipetiquette for free. Best regards --Ecemaml 06:58, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
Hi again, can you please do something to prevent absurd reversions by Gibraltarian (such as this)? While I go on developing the discussion section, I'm also enhancing the existing text (those not controversial part). But now it seems a reversion just for fun ?? Many thanks --Ecemaml 12:53, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

Hi, I forgot to answer you in the Talk page of Disputed status of Gibraltar. I did it now. --Ecemaml 18:29, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
