Hello, there I am Ceranthor-elda, king of the elves. For many years I have ruled this forest, and my people live in harmony. I go by many names;you may have known me either as LordSunday, Meldshal (a redirect), or Meldshal42.

Work

  • Note you can also contact me often on Commons.

Mostly around here I build articles. I also patrol the newpages and recent changes tools. I contribute to AIV and UAA, but mostly focus on AFD and IFD. I'm also responsible for WP:FACIAL with Pedro and Nancy.

So far, I've contributed some featured articles substantially, a bunch of good articles, and and a bunch of featured pictures. As well as a hell lot more of stuff.

I'm the creator of WikiProject Earthquakes, and also actively contribute to WikiProject Volcanoes, and WikiProject Solar System articles, but most of my contributions are towards science.

Always remember that...

  • I am trustworthy, remember that you can always trust me.
  • My lifestyle is something in between humorous and boring. I do both, The Raven is something I enjoy, however, I also enjoy Alex Borstein. See the difference?
  • I'm artistic. Not in the physical way but the mental. I know most of you are like what?, but for those who this is meant for, well, you understand.
  • I am adventurous. I like working on all kinds of new things.
  • I enjoy old music (oldies). You may not, but that's quite alright.
  • I am not brash. I always take plenty of time before I decide on something.
  • This is the most important thing about me — I don't care what you do to me. No matter what, I'll always forgive you.
  • Now for the really important stuff:
  • I take the idea of "Treat others as you want to be treated" very seriously.
  • Also, I take deep offense to anyone who speaks down to me because of my age. Seriously!
Understand this well. I do not make fun in this above information. Alright!

I was previously known as Meldshal42. I cleaned out my userpage once again because it was overcrowding. In case I am ever checkusered and believed to be a sockpuppet, Zelink546, one of my adoptees, is a real life friend, who has edited from this computer a couple of times.

Apparently, I have a good heart.

Hi Ceran, you've got that FA helper for hire userbox on your user page, so I wondered if you'd like to volunteer to conom at User talk:Alice.haugen#International Monetary Systems; just say I sent you, or squeak if your busy and I'll ask for a volunteer at wt:CUP. I've done the copyedit, however I strongly believe you need to expand the article a little, and maybe a peer review, so you meet the FAC. The article can make it, but it needs to be expanded. -- Sk8er5000 (talk) 22:33, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Phoenix14news

I did some major trimming to the article and added sources. And have now just found and added multiple awards from various organizations... 2005: Aegis Awards Winners and finalists recognition, 2006: two awards at the 27th annual Telly Awards, 2007: they won a Radio-Television News Directors Association of the Carolinas (RTNDAC) Award for "Best Student Television Newscast"., 2008: Three awards at the 29th annual Telly Awards, and the 2009 Broadcast Education Association awards. I think it has enough independent notability after being trimmed and properly sourced to exist as a stand-alone. Best regards, Schmidt, 01:07, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Question

I see that WP:DYK has changed the way it formats nominations. Yeah, I haven't nominated anything there since last year. My question is about the "creator" and "nominator" categories. I mean, if the nominator is the one who has significantly improved the article, like from a stub, for example, should that editor still simply be called the nominator? Can that editor also call his or herself the creator?

Sure, technically, another editor beat me in the "race" as to who could be the first to create the Stacey Castor article (though it was not about a race to me, seeing as I did not simply create a stub of it), but I feel that I am the "true creator" of that article (given my edits to it from stub status to significant expansion). There is also the fact that DYK typically treats significant expansions as new articles (if they meat the length requirement to be considered new).

I must say, though, I am having a difficult time coming up with a hook for this article. It has to do with the fact that this criminal case is very recent and asking "Did you know?" in any way about it seems sort of a like a "Duh." Even though I myself did not know about it until that April 24, 2009 20/20 interview. Flyer22 (talk) 22:14, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

I replied on my talk page. Thank you for answering. Flyer22 (talk) 23:04, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Rjanag slightly changed my edit by putting me down as one of the creators. I suppose I got my wish, LOL. I'll know what to do next time in a case like this, given that edit. Flyer22 (talk) 12:13, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Arbcom statement

Hi Ceranthor. Can you please clarify your statement at the request for arbitration for Mattisse? (It was me who filed it and not Moni, btw, although it makes me happy that someone could think I was her ;)). I'm unsure what you meant by a "request for the clarification of Mattisse and the ArbCom's opinion on her editing". Requests for clarification are specifically in response to previous arbcom rulings on cases, and to my knowledge there has never been an arbcom case filed on Mattisse before. Earthquake for FA

Hey Ceranthor, I would like to bring Earthquake to FA class. Would you like to collaborate? It needs a lot of work. First we need to take it to GA class and from there to FA. I would like to mention that this would be my first FA effort. If you say yes, then we get going for it. - DSachan (talk) 23:31, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Yup, I know. That's why I contacted you. Alright then, we do it. It is a super important topic. This week I will be slow, but will gather speed from this Saturday (16 May). Thanks for the consent. - DSachan (talk) 09:05, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Hello, now I have gathered plenty of references to give the initial push. It seems that the article needs complete rewrite, including shuffling and adding the new sections, adding new material to stubby paragraphs. Cutting down the external links section and adding more useful pictures is also important. I should be able to start soon. - DSachan (talk) 13:59, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Gareloi Volcano

The article is far from the FA standards, in my opinion. For instance, it contains little information about geology, prehistoric eruptive history, plant and animal life. Some background information about Aleutians should be provided as well. History section should be expanded. By the way, I found an old USGS report, which can be useful. Hey everyone, it's iMatthew! I'm so glad to finally back, and I need to thank Garden for taking care of things while I was ill. There are about 6 days left in the round, and I'm sending the newsletter out now to remind some of you to pick it up in these last few days if you want to get in the next round.

I've listed a few of you that have the chance to catch up before the end of the round in italics over to the right. Keep working!

From the Judges

Hi all. Round 2 is officially over, and we're very pleased with the results. The lowest passing score was over 200! We are very impressed with the last minute pushes to get a spot, which many of you did through mainspace editing your butts off for the last week or so. We really hope that those of you who did a lot of mainspace editing this time around will take some of that and turn it into good and featured content next round.

The pools for Round 3 will be up soon; the round starts tomorrow, June 1, 2009. As always, nominations that were nominated last round but not passed yet, may count for this round. Hope to see you all working very hard, as you are down to the Top 16, and it's going to take a lot to make the Top 8!

Those of you who were eliminated and no longer wish to receive this newsletter may remove your name from this list. If you were eliminated, but are still looking for some fun editing competition, check out User:Shappy/Amazing Race Misplaced Pages which starts in July.

Good luck and congratulations to those who made it to Round 3, again!  GARDEN ,  iMatthew :  Chat  , and The Helpful One

Thank you

I would like to thank you for coming out and participating in my Request for Adminship, which closed unsuccessfully at (48/8/6) based on my withdrawal. I withdrew because in my opinion I need to focus on problems with my content contributions before I can proceed with expanding my responsibilities. Overall I feel that the RfA has improved me as an editor and in turn some articles which in my eyes is successful. Thank you again for your support. Cheers and happy editing. --kelapstick (talk) 17:48, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Volcanos and earthquakes

Yeah, I'm sorta back, though never to my 1,000-edit-a-month capacity. I've simply decided there are more important things in life than Misplaced Pages: friends, school, girls, etc. Now that doesn't mean I won't be stopping in, but not everyday. Currently I'm working on North Carolinan towns but I should be back to earthquakes in no time. Glad to hear about Nevado. ~EDDY ~ 00:20, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

SPI cases

Alexander S. Potupa wiki page

Hello. You were initially the one who emailed us about my father's page Alexander S. Potupa. I've been working hard to improve his page and added a lot of information including links and citations. I would appreciate if you can take a look and drop me a line if you have any suggestions/corrections. Many thanks.--Elalpo (talk) 21:44, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

earthquakes?

In your article on the 1947 Wisconsin earthquake, you said that "(t)he area hardest hit was a secular 7,770 square kilometres (3,000 sq mi) strip of land".

What do you mean by a secular strip of land? Is that some highly specific meaning of 'secular' with which I'm not familiar, or is it just a mistake in word choice? DS (talk) 16:41, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Request for review

If you have a little time, I'm preparing to nominate 2009 Orange Bowl for FAC, and I'd like to get an opinion on it before I submit it. Any suggestions you might have would be appreciated. JKBrooks85 (talk) 22:35, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Copyedit request

Hello, I have been working feverishly on Hawaii hotspot. It is currently under peer review, so if you can provide feedback that would be great. If you don't feel like making the changes yourself, just tell me what to change and I'll do it! Isn't that how it works? Anyway, comments and/or copyedits to Hawaii hotspot would be great because I am sick of looking at it. I have learned more about plate tectonics than I have ever cared to know, but I think I'm approaching the point of diminishing returns on what I can do for the article. I have arranged the images in a steady, right/left pattern, and there are plenty of images. I have crammed in so many images there isn't room for any more. I have rearranged the order of one section, added points of support for the theory, and added countless references. Portions of the table are still unreferenced, but I think the Emperor's names part will slide as is, hopefully.--ErgoSumtalktrib 15:50, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

From the Judges

Wow, what a big start to Round 3! We already have people past the 50 point mark, in one week. We can tell that this round is going to be tight, and we'll likely see every Top 8 contestant with over 500 (maybe 400) points by the end of this round. Keep working hard! – weburiedoursecretsinthegarden,  iMatthew :  Chat  , and The Helpful One

From the Judges

Turns out last week's newsletter was never sent out. Sorry about that! Since we already had it done, we are sending you both. This newsletter is the one for this week though. Anyway, we're seeing you guys working really hard. There are a few of you over 100 points in the first two weeks. Also, we have switched Ottava Rima from Pool D to Pool B, and Shoemaker's Holiday (who has withdrawn) from Pool B to Pool D. Scorpion0422 is more than likely to withdraw before this round ends, because he will be inactive next round. That would leave 2 contestants in Pool B. So, to make things fairly even, we have switched the two contestants. Sorry for all of the confusion!

Finally, we know it's very early, but you can already sign up for the 2010 WikiCup, here! We want to get everything ready way in advance for next year. So we opened the list up, and we'll start working things out in September/October, most likely. Information is all on the page, and you may leave any questions on the talk page. So go sign up before your favorite flag is taken! 'weburiedoursecretsinthegarden,  iMatthew :  Chat  , and The Helpful One
