I didn't think that it would have to be a change to MediaWiki, I thought something could be done on the en.wikipedia end. But it's just as well. I searched for a similar problem and an editor of the Malaysian Misplaced Pages had the same complaint. I bumped the bug so hopefully something will get done about it.
