I really don't care for your attempts at conjecture. The only sensible way to decide how to describe people that avoids arguments like (he lived in Northern Ireland for a few years) is by when they were born. People born pre-paritition are Irish, post-partition are Northern Irish. Depends if said categories are (almost) empty due to a genuine lack of candidates to go in them, or just that articles haven't been fully categorised. Would have thought it's something to discuss rather than taking a unilateral decision, though. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 19:01, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Hence the request to take these to WP:CFD. Empty categories can be dealt with, but almost empty ones need to be discussed, not blanked. Blanking categories serves nothing but to clutter category space. --Kbdank71 19:08, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Jack Reynolds

Hi Djln, firstly apologies for reverting your edit on the dual-nationality page without first questioning your logic, which I have now found out was correct. Secondly, I can see that the Ireland team he played for was the precursor to the Northern team, not Eire, and so have also added him to the Northern Ireland subsection under English nationality. Fair enough, I can see where you're coming from, but I'm going to revert the edit, as the article lists (with references) players with dual nationality, regardless of any international appearances, and as you can only includes a few players from each category. I dont know if you are keeping up with this, I submitted to GA, and it failed, I have implemented most of the recommendations, and they were right to fail it It is now at peer review, I have complied with most of the suggestions (not dates as I'm lazy), but there is a controversial issue I have raised on the talk page Fasach Nua (talk) 16:30, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Club mergers

Regarding mergers. If, for example, a team of all the same players that plays in the same league for 10 years but had 2 or 3 different sponsors over that period IMHO is basically the same franchise. A good example is White Banner Malt or Wellston. Others may not agree. I also think that if teams share a history then that to constitutes one franchise. An example of this could be Robins + Tebo = Todd or even U.C. Sampdoria. This way there are not too many stubs. Plus it would show that teams were not just come and go but actually had a little stability and history. Libro0 (talk) 20:39, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

To start, I read in one of the site that he was involved in a sex scandal so that may possibly lead us down a road to expand the article, I guess - Perhaps even give it it's own "Controversies" section, I don't know - I'm probably making a big deal out of nothing. I'll find the link so you can give your opinion on the matter.

Seeing as you don't really know your way around all the Alex sites, there are a good few hidden gems that don't really in google searches such as the vital football one, speaking of which I managed to track down the said Sex Scandel item there as well: Link. I am sure that Reder played for a minor league team in Williamsport. It could not have been the Crosscutters and was most likey the Williamsport Grays. Hi I saw this on DIncher's talk page and thought I'd butt in ;-) The Crosscutters list lots of players that played for other, older Williamsport minor league baseball teams (that existed before the Crosscutters were founded) on their history page. See Williamsport Mets for one such team with an article here - there are others that do not have articles. Ruhrfisch _><>° 03:03, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi David! Yes, I think this is a very good idea and it is also a very good consensus for all of us. Maybe it would be good to add a head to the Irish cats, like it was done for the German cats e.g.: Category:Olympic competitors for West Germany. So nobody will be confused and it is show why this cat was created and how do use it. I addition I would like to ask you if you want to create a cat for all the Olympic medalists from Ireland which did not win their medals for Ireland? This was my idea one year ago with the "Irish pre-1924 Olympic medalists" but maybe you can call this cat "Irish Olympic medalists"? Fred Horlacher

Hi! I am sorry, but I have no source or reference that he ever participate at the Olympics. 1920 is impossible because he is born in 1910, so he would have been the youngest competitor ever. Ireland participated in the 1924 and 1928 water polo tournament, but again I have no source that he was an unused reserve. I have added all the names to both tournaments and I was only able to add three (1924) and two (1928) Irish reserve players. Maybe there were more but I have only sources for these. Sorry. Thanks for your comment. One thing I do find a bit confusing with Irish rugby is the university/college teams. I think I can see that University College Cork RFC is basically the rugby team of UCC, a student team, whereas Blackrock College RFC appears to be an ordinary club founded by ex-students of Blackrock College. For an outsider it's all a bit mysterious! I'm also, as an outsider, ever-wary of getting involved in Irish politics, so I tend to shy away from anything controversial, even in the field of rugby. The fact that those teams won those competitions is not relevant. The competition is just as relevant to the other teams in the competition as it is to the team that won it, so you would have to add the competition page to every team's category, and that's just not feasible. – PeeJay 19:36, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

David Watkins

I should advise you that the move you performed earlier may be reverted. The reason for this is a little convoluted, but basically as it stands at the minute the standard for dual code players is (rugby) and (rugby player) is the current standard for union players, although this is set to become (rugby union) shortly. Basically there is an issue and between two communities we are looking to clean it up. This one may be reverted in the mean time though.Londo06 21:37, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

No, the La Raza was NOT sold from old owner to another. The original team folded. The current team only purchased the copyright to the original team's name & logo.
