Hello David Thanks for upgrading this page with the football categories
I am intrigued as to why an Irishman living in Liverpool has an interest in Brisbane football???

People born pre-partition are not described as "Northern Irish", see WP:IMOS. One Night In Hackney303 22:37, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- I could not care less what has been written on a category page, guidelines take precedence. And people are categorised by their country of birth, we don't call people born pre-Israel "Israelis". One Night In Hackney303 22:53, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- Not really relevant. The guidelines take precedence. Feel free to add them to a different cat, but describing them as "Northern Irish" is out. One Night In Hackney303 23:19, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, which is why it doesn't apply to people who were born in Northern Ireland, not people who weren't. Was Julius Caesar Italian? One Night In Hackney303 23:47, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- I am being realistic. You claimed people were categorised based on current countries, I don't see any Italian categories on Caesar do you? As for your other "point", English, Scottish and Welsh exist, they were part of the UK last time I checked? One Night In Hackney303 00:00, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

- People born in the modern era. I thought that was obvious. Do you want to go all the way back to the cavemen to support your point ? Irish (IFA) internationals from this era already have a seperate category. There is no need to create a new one. You are being ridiculous. Welsh, Northern Irish, English and Welsh players are already in a category for British footballers Djln--Djln (talk) 00:20, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- I really don't care for your attempts at conjecture. The only sensible way to decide how to describe people that avoids arguments like (he lived in Northern Ireland for a few years) is by when they were born. People born pre-paritition are Irish, post-partition are Northern Irish. That's been decided upon and agreed, as it's the only sensible way of doing it as its entirely factual and there's no room for arguments. One Night In Hackney303 00:26, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- Could you obey WP:IMOS please. Its there for a reason. --Domer48 (talk) 16:49, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Tom Williams (footballer)
Hi, I was wondering why you removed the Category:English-born footballers who played for Cyprus from Mr Williams, and then blanked the category? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:10, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
I see you've blanked many similar categories. If you are interested in deleting them, please see WP:CFD. --Kbdank71 17:27, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Depends if said categories are (almost) empty due to a genuine lack of candidates to go in them, or just that articles haven't been fully categorised. Would have thought it's something to discuss rather than taking a unilateral decision, though. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 19:01, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hence the request to take these to WP:CFD. Empty categories can be dealt with, but almost empty ones need to be discussed, not blanked. Blanking categories serves nothing but to clutter category space. --Kbdank71 19:08, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi Djln, firstly apologies for reverting your edit on the dual-nationality page without first questioning your logic, which I have now found out was correct. Secondly, I can see that the Ireland team he played for was the precursor to the Northern team, not Eire, and so have also added him to the Northern Ireland subsection under English nationality. Apologies once again, and many thanks for bringing it to my attention. Kind regards, GiantSnowman (talk) 22:58, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hello, me again. Can I just enquire as to why you have removed referenced players on the List of football players with dual nationality page, and replaced them with a see here instead? GiantSnowman (talk) 23:13, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Fair enough, I can see where you're coming from, but I'm going to revert the edit, as the article lists (with references) players with dual nationality, regardless of any international appearances, and as you can only includes a few players from each category. If you disagree then maybe we should start a disussion at WP:FOOTBALL, or on the article talk page. Kind regards, GiantSnowman (talk) 23:26, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- If I could find references for "more notable" players then I would of course include them...GiantSnowman (talk) 23:36, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Sounds like a good compromise; mention the categories but keep the list of referenced players. Good thinking! GiantSnowman (talk) 23:49, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

I dont know if you are keeping up with this, I submitted to GA, and it failed, I have implemented most of the recommendations, and they were right to fail it It is now at peer review, I have complied with most of the suggestions (not dates as I'm lazy), but there is a controversial issue I have raised on the talk page Fasach Nua (talk) 16:30, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi, when you add players to Category:Uruguayan footballers who played for other national teams please do not delete Category:Uruguayan footballers they do not stop being Uruguayan because they played for another national team. Cheers EP 22:55, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Club mergers
Regarding mergers. If, for example, a team of all the same players that plays in the same league for 10 years but had 2 or 3 different sponsors over that period IMHO is basically the same franchise. A good example is White Banner Malt or Wellston. Others may not agree. I also think that if teams share a history then that to constitutes one franchise. An example of this could be Robins + Tebo = Todd or even U.C. Sampdoria. This way there are not too many stubs. Plus it would show that teams were not just come and go but actually had a little stability and history. Libro0 (talk) 20:39, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

I am leaving the same message in all parties talk pages.
Please read my requests carefully and stick to them. If we're going to have a successful mediation, it is important to do this a stage at a time and not to argue amongst ourselves while the dispute is still fresh and far from resolved.

Occy
Hey Djln - No problem, credit's due to those that deserve it, well something like that anyway. ;-) As a Crewe fan (don't ask about our season, please ;-)) I'll help ya with anything you'll want to know about his club career at the Alex. To start, I read in one of the site that he was involved in a sex scandal so that may possibly lead us down a road to expand the article, I guess - Perhaps even give it it's own "Controversies" section, I don't know - I'm probably making a big deal out of nothing. I'll find the link so you can give your opinion on the matter.
Seeing as you don't really know your way around all the Alex sites, there are a good few hidden gems that don't really in google searches such as the vital football one, speaking of which I managed to track down the said Sex Scandel item there as well: Link. Anyway, like I said, need any help club wise just drop me a line - By the looks of it, you've got his, IMO, complicated international career all sorted. --Phill Review this GA review! 21:56, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Reder
I am sure that Reder played for a minor league team in Williamsport. It could not have been the Crosscutters and was most likey the Williamsport Grays. Perhaps you or I could write an article about the Grays or the history of baseball in Williamsport. I will leave things as they are for now. Dincher (talk) 02:42, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi I saw this on DIncher's talk page and thought I'd butt in ;-) The Crosscutters list lots of players that played for other, older Williamsport minor league baseball teams (that existed before the Crosscutters were founded) on their history page. See Williamsport Mets for one such team with an article here - there are others that do not have articles. Ruhrfisch ><>° 03:03, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting it started. I am probably going to buy a book about baseball in Williamsport and will have more to add to it. Dincher (talk) 01:09, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Irish
Hi David! Yes, I think this is a very good idea and it is also a very good consensus for all of us. Maybe it would be good to add a head to the Irish cats, like it was done for the German cats e.g.: Category:Olympic competitors for West Germany. So nobody will be confused and it is show why this cat was created and how do use it. I addition I would like to ask you if you want to create a cat for all the Olympic medalists from Ireland which did not win their medals for Ireland? This was my idea one year ago with the "Irish pre-1924 Olympic medalists" but maybe you can call this cat "Irish Olympic medalists"? Many thanks for all and kind regards Doma-w (talk) 19:34, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- I have created today non-medalist John Barrett (athlete) :) and I have just created some more field hockey players. If you want I can forward all Irish competitors to you when I find some more? Kind regards Doma-w (talk) 20:05, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- It would be great if you can correct the term British Irish. I do not want to insult anybody - but I am not a native speaker... :) Kind regards Doma-w (talk) 20:31, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Fred Horlacher
Hi! I am sorry, but I have no source or reference that he ever participate at the Olympics. 1920 is impossible because he is born in 1910, so he would have been the youngest competitor ever. Ireland participated in the 1924 and 1928 water polo tournament, but again I have no source that he was an unused reserve. I have added all the names to both tournaments and I was only able to add three (1924) and two (1928) Irish reserve players. Maybe there were more but I have only sources for these. Sorry. Kind regards Doma-w (talk) 13:47, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Irish rugby union edits
Nice work!! Good to see someone who knows about Irish RU clubs etc doing editing. Are you a bit of an expert on the subject? I do a bit of work on the Lions and its useful to be able to ask someone questions about player's names. --Bcp67 (talk) 19:50, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comment. One thing I do find a bit confusing with Irish rugby is the university/college teams. I think I can see that University College Cork RFC is basically the rugby team of UCC, a student team, whereas Blackrock College RFC appears to be an ordinary club founded by ex-students of Blackrock College. For an outsider it's all a bit mysterious! I'm also, as an outsider, ever-wary of getting involved in Irish politics, so I tend to shy away from anything controversial, even in the field of rugby. Anyway, keep up the good work. --Bcp67 (talk) 20:38, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Four Associations Tournament
With regard to your move of this article from 4 Associations Tournament, I feel I should bring it to your attention that "4 Associations Tournament" is one of the proper names by which the competition has been referred to, making the argument that "titles should use words, not numbers" redundant. – PeeJay 17:53, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Irish Rugby Tours
Could help me with the Irish Rugby Tours please.
Inappropriate categories
The fact that those teams won those competitions is not relevant. The competition is just as relevant to the other teams in the competition as it is to the team that won it, so you would have to add the competition page to every team's category, and that's just not feasible. – PeeJay 19:36, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- I can't show you a specific guideline, but I can certainly show you precedent. It is up to you to convince people why it should be included, not for me to convince people why it shouldn't. – PeeJay 19:43, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'm afraid you are confused. It is always the prerogative of the person adding the content to prove why the addition of the content is necessary. Therefore, you must provide evidence enough to bring about a consensus in the wider community. Please start a discussion at WP:RU. – PeeJay 19:57, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

I should advise you that the move you performed earlier may be reverted. The reason for this is a little convoluted, but basically as it stands at the minute the standard for dual code players is (rugby) and (rugby player) is the current standard for union players, although this is set to become (rugby union) shortly. Basically there is an issue and between two communities we are looking to clean it up. This one may be reverted in the mean time though.Londo06 21:37, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Other than the novelty of like monikers, I don't actually see why this article was created. The guy who made appears to be inactive. I tried to discuss with him other articles he started where there may be disputable names. Jerzy and chaser made very good points. I think the article could be split with all relevant information distributed properly the way Jerzy suggested. The major problem at this time is lack of information to expand the individual articles. Research takes time. I think it is best to have one franchise with its own article that includes the lineage of former names rather than the same name of an unrelated team. This way there is no confusion with other articles like player categories, etc. Libro0 (talk) 21:00, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:10, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
irreasonable deletion of category:International national football (soccer) competitions from pages
Please turn back the category of category:International national football (soccer) competitions to all pages that you deleted from! Why do you do those?! If you don't add this category again, I will surely report it at Admins page. یوشیچی تویوهارا (talk) 08:45, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
- Also please read what I wrote at Category talk:International football (soccer) competitions by continent. یوشیچی تویوهارا (talk) 08:45, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
NASL
There is a new league forming. You deleted all content about that league. I undid both of your changes. Please add your points to the discussion page and don't wipe out the information that is there. I agree that moving the existing NASL article to a different location is not ideal and we're trying to come to a satisfactory compromise, but before we make any additional rash moves (and lose content in the process) we're talking about it. Please join the discussion. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:22, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Milk Cup (disambiguation)
The article Milk Cup (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- prod for only two terms; can be dealt with by a hatnote
While all contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 09:30, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
Category deletions
Hi Djln
I have been cleaning up uncategorised categories, and have found rather a lot which seemed to have been blanked by you. The most recent one is Category:Football (soccer) in Australia by state, but I have found several others.
If you think that a category should be renamed or merged, please DO NOT just depopulate it and blank the page.
There is a process for discussing changes to categories, at WP:CFD; please use it. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 15:35, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
