Hello! Please leave me new messages at the bottom of the page. I usually notice messages soon, and I usually respond on your talk page if it is something urgent, so you get a "you have new messages" notice. For casual banter I am just as likely to respond here.

French Renaissance Music
Antandrus -- is there any way I could convince you to write a brief survey of renaissance music for French Renaissance (if you find the time!!)? You are the expert in these things, and the Renaissance music article lacks specificity on the French experience. Thanks-- NYArtsnWords 23:17, 20 December 2005 (UTC)

Antandrus, thanks for your support regarding Pfistermeister on Talk:Gustav Mahler. I gave him short shrift after his subsequent vitriolic attack. Now, he's been smarmy again at Talk:Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, so he copped it with both barrels again. How do I get to attract these people? Whatever happened to nice? BTW, I love the pic on your page. Cheers JackofOz 11:25, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

Hi Encyclopedist,
I semi-protected your user page just now because of a vandalism spree. You can still edit, but anons and newly-logged-in users can't. Let me know if you'd like protection removed and I will at once. By the way, excellent work on Military history of African Americans; I noticed that go up yesterday. Keep up the good work and don't let the vandals get to you. I uploaded an image of Ari Meyers within the the accordance established by Misplaced Pages (source and licence) and someone put it up for deletion because "it is unencyclopedic". Izehar's RfA
Hi Antandrus,
Hereford Troper
Hi, I see that you have done some fine work on some early music manuscripts. I have an interest in illuminated manuscrits and while looking around for info on Anglo-Saxon manuscripts, I came across the Hereford Troper (aka as the Cotton Troper) (British Library, Cotton Caligula A XIV). Here is the British Library catalog page (in Latin). here, here, here, and here are some images. (Click on the image on each page to get a larger copy. Are you familiar with this manuscript? How significant is it for music history? Is the musical notation 11th century addition, or is it a later addition? At some point I will be writing an article on this manuscript, based on its illumination, but I fear that I will be hopeless to discus from musicologist's point of view. Dsmdgold 16:31, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- Hi Dsmdgold,
- Thanks for the note about the Hereford/Cotton Troper. That's marvelous! I didn't know about that manuscript until now, but I'd be happy to add to any article you start. There's a bit about it in the New Grove, and I can probably write some about the specific type of music notation it employs. It's dated from right around the time of the conquest (third quarter 11th century), and was probably copied at Winchester or Worcester.
- Related question(s) -- do you know where we can get usable images, or if the images at the British Library can be used by Misplaced Pages? I need some for the Old Hall MS as well as for the (as yet unwritten) Winchester Troper. Best wishes, Antandrus (talk) 17:43, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- On your related question first. The BL. like, all large instituitions. will tell you that their images are copyrighted. However under US law, mechanical reproductions of two dimensional works of art in the Public Domain are also in the public domain (see Bridgeman Art Library v. Corel Corp.). I have used images off the British Library site on Misplaced Pages. I am always carefull to crop the image so that there is no three dimensional aspect and scrub and or crop off the annoying red British Library logo that is often in the lower right corner. A nice image of the Old Hall manuscript is here. It even lacks the annoying logo!
- As to the Cotton Troper, I will move its article to the top of my list and let you know when I get something up, probably not till later in the week though Dsmdgold 18:13, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

So you claim Regara, Jake Remington and the North Carolina vandal are all the same. Can you show any edits made by one or the other that show these connections? 68.39.174.238 03:39, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
PS. BTW, Why is your usrpage protected?
Hmm
OK, indefinate preventative protection seems suspiscious but it's currently per page so ñ. Anyway I'm trying to cleanup/categorize deal with the vandal pages and accounts. Jaime Laredo
SHOCK SHOCK! Can you believe there wasn't an article about him already? Anyway...what's the right spelling? I'm confused. And where did you find all that terrific information about him? I was looking ALL OVER and couldn't find any. (such as birthdate, for example.) Thanks for helping!--ViolinGirl 15:30, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
- What would be even more scarey is if Joshua Bell turned up red...but, I'm glad to know it won't. I'm glad to meet another violinist, too! I keep meeting more and more, for which I'm glad. At first, I thought we were almost extinct on Misplaced Pages! ;) I'll be working more tonight, so I'll see what I can do with him. Guillaume Costeley
I just now started an article on 19 equal temperament, and cited the claim that Costeley wrote Seigneur Dieu ta pitié in 19 notes to the octave. Do you have any futher information on that? Gene Ward Smith 23:28, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for your response. I've written Lorenz, and perhaps I can find out for you what he has to say about Costeley. I'd love to get a 19 equal midi file of this chanson.
New Vandalism
Hey, you remember me? My brother was on here using the name Andrewin and making all kinds of stupid edits? Well, anyway, I opened my laptop a second ago and my brother had logged in under the name Caliente001. I don't know what he was doing, but with him, you never know. He wouldn't tell me anything, so I don't know what he might have done. Roygene 05:38, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

3RR violation at John Kerry
Gamaliel violated the 3RR rule at John Kerry today. Here are the diffs:
He's an admin so I don't want to tangle with him, but something should be done. If you study the reverts he made, they were clearly made against non-vandal edits. For this reason, Gamaliel should not be allowed to flaunt the 3RR simply because he's pushing his own preferred text instead.
Unilateral Redirect
Our "friend" Voice of All has unilaterally put a redirect on List of sexual slurs to make it redirect to Sexual slang. This was done without any discussion or consensus. He then removed the edit option from the page to undo his vandalism. Can you do anything about this admin/vandal? 155.84.57.253 14:29, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
