Welcome to my talk page. Please adhere to the talk page guidelines and particularly the following:
|
Previous account
Do you have a previous account? If so, you might want to note it, either by redirecting the old account here, or by making a statement on your userpage to that effect. Some of your activities seem to indicate that you have more than a passing familiarity with a dispute on Misplaced Pages, and if you have edited a page with more than one account without disclosing that the accounts are related, you might end up getting blocked for sockpuppetry.
Your username was what prompted my notice, as it's an anagram of a recently departed editor. Horologium (talk) 09:54, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yes well done, I wondered how long it would take, you are obviously a crossword enthusiast. I am that editor (Polargeo). I have no intention of continuing editing beyond the Arbcase but am simply presenting evidence. Thankyou for pointing this out. If you think my edits cross the line then please report this but Polargeo has not yet been sanctioned for anything, ever in 10,000 edits. Olap the Ogre (talk) 09:58, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think your edits cross the line. If I thought they did, I simply would have requested a Checkuser, rather than making a query on your user talk page. (If you had an e-mail address associated with this username, I would have sent you an e-mail). A concern of mine was that this account was a joe job, intended to discredit your previous editing on Misplaced Pages, and as I stated, using more than one account to edit a page can cause problems for the editor (you can ask JWB about that). Despite our confrontation over the RFC and subsequent arbitration, I don't bear any ill will towards you, and I think that the proposed topic ban is overkill. I hope that you reconsider your decision to retire. Horologium (talk) 10:16, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you. Olap the Ogre (talk) 10:39, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
- You did jump into Climate Change arb material however - you likely should tell the people (including NewYorkBrad) that this is you, else it might look like a "new user" has suddenly waded in. I trust you respect my opinion thereon. Collect (talk) 10:41, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
- Sure I respect your opinion. And I have acted on it Olap the Ogre (talk) 10:44, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for all the fish, Olap the Ogre, and all your work to dispel the yapping terriers of ignorance. Remember to have fun! dave souza, talk 10:28, 4 October 2010 (UTC) |

Whacking with a wet trout or trouting is a common practice on Misplaced Pages when experienced editors slip up and make a silly mistake. It, along with sentencing to the village stocks, is used to resolve one-off instances of seemingly silly behavior amongst normally constructive community members, as opposed to long term patterns of disruptive edits, which earn warnings and blocks.
Example
Whack! The above is a WikiTrout (Oncorhynchus macrowikipediensis), used to make subtle adjustments to the clue levels of experienced Wikipedians. To whack a user with a wet trout, simply place
{{trout}}
on their talk page.
Lovely. I once whacked myself with a trout. It is very liberating. I suggest you all whack yourselves once in a while. :) Olap the Ogre (talk) 10:42, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
