INDEFINITE WIKIBREAK This user is no longer active on Misplaced Pages.GOCE copy edit drive
Greetings, the Misplaced Pages Guild of Copy-Editors invites you to participate in the November 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive, a month-long effort to reduce the backlog of articles that require copy-editing. The drive will begin on 1 November at 00:00 (UTC) and will end on 30 November at 23:59 (UTC). The goal for this drive is to reduce the backlog by 10% (approximately 500 articles). We hope to focus our efforts on the oldest three months (January, February, and March 2009) and the newest three months (September, October, and November 2010) of articles in the queue.
Sign-up has already begun at the November drive page, and will be open throughout the drive. If you have any questions or concerns, please leave a message on the drive's talk page. Before you begin copy-editing, please carefully read the instructions on the main drive page. Please make sure that you know how to copy-edit, and be familiar with the Misplaced Pages Manual of Style. Awards and barnstars A range of barnstars will be awarded to active participants, some of which are exclusive to GOCE drives. More information on awards can be found on the main drive page. Thank you; we look forward to meeting you on the drive! |

Semi-protection
Hi AD. For how long would you like your talk page protected? Favonian (talk) 18:21, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
- Just for a week or so. Zsfgseg is becoming less active and the Scruffy vandal has pretty much retired but Jcarleo is probably pretty pissed off at me for starting the ban discussion. But a long semi would stop anons from communicating with me which is not a good thing. access_denied (talk) 18:26, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
- A week it is. Favonian (talk) 18:29, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Hey Access, I put the button on my talk page a few days ago, but sometime between this morning and tonight it floated off to the center--it was nicely lined up on the left before. It looks bad on my talk page right now, and I'd like to get it a bit smaller and on the left. Can I do that myself? I looked at the history of the template, but that technical stuff goes over my head. BTW, I love having the button there, and I think I've done a half a dozen at least in the last few days--great idea (I think you proposed it on ANI, no?). Thanks, Drmies (talk) 01:39, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Seriously?!?!?!? Why aren't you using {{Big Yellow Button}}?!?!?! ǝɥʇM0N0 01:51, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

- They even have {{Big Red Button}} and I created {{Big Blue Button}}! Perseus (t • c) 22:20, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Perseus, is there a variable that I can use to align the button on the left? Look at my talk page--it doesn't fit where it is right now. And if it were half the size it would be even better... Drmies (talk) 02:25, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

How do I set up my talk archives to be indexed by the indexer bot? I've read the exanation serveral times but just don't understand. Thanks. access_denied (talk) 08:34, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- This should do fine, I believe:
{{User:HBC Archive Indexerbot/OptIn |target=/Archive index |mask=/Archive <#> |leading_zeros=0 |indexhere=yes}}
- Add that to the top of this page. It should be transcluded directly, not through your header.
- target = at which sub-page you want your archive index to be located at (start with a "/", followed with the sub-page title).
- mask = at which sub-page your archives are located
- leading_zeros = the number of leading 0's in your archive title
- indexhere = set it to yes if you want to index both your root talk page as well as your archives.
- Additionally, you can use |template=<template name> (replace <template name> with the actual name of the template) if you want to use a different index template than the default one.

About your retirement
It's a shame to see a great contributor like yourself leave Misplaced Pages. Why are you leaving? Did your RfA have anything to do with it? If you need to, you can email me. The Utahraptor/Contribs 04:14, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
- Not really about the RfA. 1) I've been on here a ton and my grades in school are going way down; 2) I've been repeatedly accused of bad faith for having the opinion in this RFC on admin conduct that a certain admin be desysopped (see also related RFC (and even worse, most of these accusation have been from an admin!). But I cant say that the RFA was a small part of it. (SandyG in particular, plus the final oppose was just plain rude and it was added after I withdrew) access_denied (talk) 05:32, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
- SandyGeorgia is pretty thorough in her opposes. I hope you can find the time to return to Misplaced Pages. The Utahraptor/Contribs 14:01, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
- Such things are quickly forgotten. I hope you do decide to return at some point, and if you do, I'm sure people won't hold grudges against you. —Soap— 02:35, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- I think you shouldn't let it bother you in the future. She was probably judging your contributions. Please don't feel upset about it. Hope a smile will cheer you up and make you return in the future. Hello Access Denied, Wayne Slam has smiled at you! Smiles promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by smiling at someone else, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. Go on, smile! Cheers, and happy editing!

Retirement
It'd be a shame to see you go, you seem to be a good editor :(. I don't think you should take the YellowMonkey stuff too personally, its rather blown up in a short time, so unfortunately people are upset. I think that will get better though now. -- Eraserhead1 <talk> 14:09, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

- Sorry to see you go. Misplaced Pages is better for your contributions. I don't know how many more editors like you we can afford to lose. I do hope you'll return at some point. Merry Christmas anyway. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:20, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
- I'm sad to see you go as well. I hope you'll find the time later on when you can manage to sneak in a few edits here and there. Enjoy yourself on the holidays! --Addihockey10 15:26, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
- We have lost quite a few valuable contributors lately, such as dffgd, The Thing That Should Not Be, Tommy2010, and now Access Denied. At this rate, the only vandal fighters out there will be the bots. The Utahraptor/Contribs 15:45, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

- Huh, didn't even know Fastily retired. Like I said, at this rate, the bots are going to be Misplaced Pages's last anti-vandalism measure. The Utahraptor/Contribs 17:10, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
- Access Denied, in case you didn't know, PeterSymonds has removed all of your user rights, including your AWB permission.
- To be honest, I can't say I'm completely surprised by the fact that you have now decided to retire. Just a month ago, an arbitrator retired; TTTSNB has apparently lost interest in Misplaced Pages; and now you've decided to retire yourself. I hope this decision was not because of your failure to get the administrator tools. HeyMid (contribs) 17:43, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Template:Editor-Note The Thing That Should Be has now replaced his entire user- and user talk page with {{retired}}. It's sad that we've lost the best vandal fighters. I really hope you decide to unretire to come back and beat the vandalizers. HeyMid (contribs) 11:07, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

- There will certainly be more vandal fighters in the future but they won't likely be the same users that were fighting vandalism today such as Tommy2010, The Thing, Access Denied, etc. Every time a user retires, unfortunately that's one less active user. WAYNESLAM 22:42, 13 December 2010 (UTC)
