== The IP soap vandal ==

FYI, there's no "problem" between myself personally and the IP. The issue, if you're not already familiar with it, is that this individual (through a regularly changing IP) that has been vandalizing the project for quite some time now. They have a clear pattern of disruption, which features adding invalid "facts" and a passion for trying to post in articles that certain soaps have been "announced" as being cancelled in 2020. If you see such a pattern, please revert the IP's contributions on sight and report them as a vandal. --''']'''''<small>]]</small>'' 08:19, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Your suggestion on ExxonMobil

I noticed that you made the suggestion to split the ExxonMobil article into two articles, with a comment added on the article talk page. In case you think that it disappeared, I want to let you know that I moved your suggestion to the bottom of the talk page, as is standard for starting new discussions - keeping things in chronological order, newest on top (unless you are discussing in a particular section). —ERcheck @ 20:57, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Data East.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Data East.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Misplaced Pages and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Age category

Hello! If you are receiving this message, that means that your user page is in a specific year category. Per a recent user-category per deletion, all specific year categories are to be deleted. If you wish to continue using year categories, you have two options:

If you wish, you may do both. Hopefully, this change in categorization will be quick and painless. Happy editing! --An automated message from MessedRobot 12:51, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Let's look at Misplaced Pages:EL, which governs external links.

Misplaced Pages:EL#What_should_be_linked states: "Sites with other meaningful, relevant content that is not suitable for inclusion in an article, such as reviews and interviews."

Seanbaby's review (as in the review itself) is NOT suitable to include in the article, but it is perfectly okay to link to it. WhisperToMe 15:36, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Bonimart.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Bonimart.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:03, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Image source problem with Image:Bally Midway.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Bally Midway.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Misplaced Pages:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 13:27, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Three South Shore malls up for deletion

Place Portobello, Mail Carnaval and Place Desormeaux, articles that I've noticed you've contributed to, have been nominated for deletion due to lack of notability. Please give your input at each one's deletion proposal page: Place Portobello, Mail Carnaval and Place Desormeaux. One solution could be to merge/summarize the information into the respective city where the mall is located, as per WP:NNC, if the mall is not notable enough to merit its own article. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Data East's logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Data East's logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:04, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Do we need a source for the list of former locations of Simpsons?

Yes, we do. Skeezix1000 (talk) 17:43, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

All of the locations can be verified with reference to advertisements placed by Simpsons in the 1970s and 80s. See in particular advertisements placed in the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail. I think that they should be included since they are a part of the historical record. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.207.136.75 (talk) 22:51, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

I don't have a problem with having a list location on the Simpsons article. It's Skeezix1000 and SchuminWeb that didn't want any part of it. As if people would just add false locations on the article just for the heck of it. In fact, all locations can be verified on any old phone directory. (Farine (talk) 01:32, 28 October 2008 (UTC))
Please do not mischaracterize the positions of others. No one is being unnecessarily difficult for the sake of it. WP:V and WP:OR are crystal clear. If you can come up with a list of locations that are all properly sourced, then by all means do so. Skeezix1000 (talk) 12:03, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Swim briefs

I hate to disagree with you because I know we have the same goals for this. But...I think that since you introduced the list of countries that like swim brfs with "in particular" that it should be specific. "Japan and China" reads better than the vague "some Asian countries". It's understood that swim brfs are popular in other places too. But I'm going to leave it to you. Best wishes. Markhh (talk) 04:45, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

If you want to. I, personally, wouldn't have wrote it like that. But go ahead if you prefer it that way.Farine (talk) 19:42, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Okay. I took another stab. I hope you will approve. Cheers! Markhh (talk) 23:52, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Sounds good. It's true that it's generally English speaking countries that avoid swim briefs the most. Farine (talk) 05:49, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
Agree re "especially." I almost changed that myself. Markhh (talk) 06:41, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Please do not cross-post the same thread across multiple talk pages

Please do not cross-post the same thread to multiple people's talk pages, as you did with the recent thread on Simpsons locations. If you wish to notify me of a discussion, please leave me a link to a single location where the discussion is ongoing, rather than posting the same discussion on multiple talk pages. Or even better, use the {{talkback}} template. SchuminWeb (Talk) 02:01, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Simpsons

It is very unclear why you cut and paste a discussion from another talk page onto my user page. If you want to alert me to a discussion, the way to do it is with a note on my talk page alerting me to the issue. Thanks. Skeezix1000 (talk) 11:57, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Taito Corporation (old logo).jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Taito Corporation (old logo).jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Misplaced Pages's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 06:00, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Simpsons Trademark

I wasn't the one who added that information to the Simpson's article, but it is true (I recall seeing something about it in the news at the time). Check the database at . It kind of makes sense, given all the speculation over the future of Sears Canada, that Sears might want to secure the rights to alternate names should ties with the American parent be severed (whereas the Bay presumably has less use for the trademark). Interestingly, in 2008 Sears Canada transferred all of its trademarks to 1373639 Alberta Ltd., including the Simpsons trademark. I don't know why, but suspect it is just an internal corporate organizational matter (presumably making it easier for the chain to be sold in the future, should the need arise, without the trademarks) - I'm guessing the numbered company is a wholly-owned shell company. Sears Canada ads (see, for example, this one), now have boilerplate at the bottom stating that the trademarks formerly owned by Sears Canada are now owned by 1373639 Alberta Ltd.--Skeezix1000 (talk) 14:18, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

WP:LEAD

Hi. Thanks for working on the Midway article. Please read WP:LEAD. You cannot mention anything in the lead unless you say it lower down in the article. It's not redundancy, it's that the lead is an overview of the most important information contained in the article below. This is a very important guideline in Misplaced Pages. Thanks! -- Ssilvers (talk) 00:12, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

The further shortening of the Lead looks even better, thanks! -- Ssilvers (talk) 00:16, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Atari logo.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Atari logo.gif. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Misplaced Pages constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 19:16, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Delete the Upstate New York article? Absolutely not!

I understand your frustration with the POV of some paragraphs, but I disagree with your proposal to delete the whole article. Upstate New York is a region and culture distinct from downstate New York, and is eminently worthy of its own article. The geography and history of the region is little known and poorly understood, and will not be adequately treated in an article about NY State as a whole.

I agree that there are problems with the sections of the article dealing with politics and culture, but deletion of the article as a whole is not justifiable. Don Argus jr (talk) 06:13, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of J B Lefebvre

The article J B Lefebvre has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced article for which I can find no reliable sources to verify the information. In addition, WP:ORG states that for notability criteria to be met "A company, corporation, organization, school, team, religion, group, product, or service is notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in secondary sources. Such sources must be reliable, and independent of the subject", which does not appear to be the case here.

While all contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jezebel'sPonyo 14:51, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

The IP soap vandal

FYI, there's no "problem" between myself personally and the IP. The issue, if you're not already familiar with it, is that this individual (through a regularly changing IP) that has been vandalizing the project for quite some time now. They have a clear pattern of disruption, which features adding invalid "facts" and a passion for trying to post in articles that certain soaps have been "announced" as being cancelled in 2020. If you see such a pattern, please revert the IP's contributions on sight and report them as a vandal. --Ckatzspy 08:19, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
