Get rid of this damn thing NOW!!!

I've just about had it with this biotch. It is destroying images that had every right to be on wikipedia and that I had worked so hard to find. If this bot continues to destroy images and articles for the sheer pleasure of its owner, the site administrators will be immediatly contacted so they can make sure that it never terrorizes again!

Please do contact them. And then maybe you can explain why you can't be bothered to follow the basic rules of uploading images. --Carnildo 07:52, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Is it normal that this thing deletes everything that its on his way? Most of my contributions are as Fair Use and with a explanation, but it keeps trying to delete them. Messhermit 13:39, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Perfectly normal. You aren't bothering to indicate where you're getting the images or who created them, which is a basic requirement of Misplaced Pages's image use policy. --Carnildo 18:19, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

You have just removed my image (right) Image:reddoglogo2.jpg, though I indicated that I had the copyright & am therefore entitled to use it. Such sabotage is a criminal waste of my time. I posted 'Carnildo' to make it clear that this was my image, created by myself. I only upload images that are my property.I don't have time or energy to keep chasing this stuff up. Please stop wrecking my entries or I'll stop making contributions . Curiousexplorer 10:10, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

You uploaded it, and you may have the copyright to it, but you neglected to indicate what terms you were licensing it under. This is a basic requirement of uploading images on Misplaced Pages. I note you say you have permission to use it on Misplaced Pages, but this isn't good enough -- you need to get permission to release the image under a free license. --Carnildo 19:16, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

This is my last edit EVER to Misplaced Pages. No point when work is mindlessly deleted. Pictures tht I OWN that are over 100 years old were jsut deleted. bye. - gs

Copyright in the Ale Yarok and Tafnit logos

That's what it is written in the template which in the picture description pages of the logos of Ale Yarok and Tafnit in the Hebrew Misplaced Pages:

That is a logo of a commercial company or another organization. The estimation is that it is allowed to use in picture of that kind in Misplaced Pages in the article that deal with the specific company of the specific organization under the conditions of fair treatment. It is necessary to edit this picture and to add to it the name of the article in which the fair use is allowed.

Bot malfunction

Thanks for experimenting with Misplaced Pages. Your test worked, and has been reverted or removed undone by an automated bot. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Tawkerbot2 gave this message after this. What happened? --HartzR 18:57, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
Two different sorts of flat-out impossible, and one bug. Looking at OrphanBot's logs:
  • Misplaced Pages returned an edit page with an empty edit field -- a bug I was told had been fixed several days ago.
  • Then, OrphanBot manages to pattern-match 27 bytes of pattern against an empty edit text zero times -- and do so for a total matched length of 17 bytes.
  • Because of a bug in OrphanBot's code, a successful (but flat-out impossible) match against an empty page text doesn't trigger the "match too short" error-check.
  • OrphanBot then assumed that the image had been transcluded via template, and then did what it thought was a null edit to clear any stale "image used in" references.

Log of unusual finds

Image:Green.darner2web.jpg

Originally this image was tagged with {{PD-CAGov}}. Apparently something must have happened with this tag, as it doesn’t show up any more in the description of the image. That is probably why the bot has marked this image for deletion. Or isthere a bug in your bot ?

Anyway, I have changed it to the not-so-apt tag {{PD-USGov}} and given the rationale from the original website why this photo is public domain

Can you look into it and see if this is OK and remove the delete template? JoJan 18:13, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Image:NorfolkSeal.gif

Your bot needs to be seriously worked on because it is tagging images that are legitimate and fair-use. The Norfolk Seal image is a city-owned seal of the City of Norfolk, Virginia, which is owned by the city itself, and is public property. The image is also appropriately marked with an image copyright tag, as per wikipedia guidelines, and in fact, was tagged appropriately when this stupid bot found the image!! Furthermore, it's interesting to point out that I have yet to see anyone complaining about any of the city seal images placed on other city pages, either!!

Your bot also appears to have tagged Image:Ky_unbridled.jpg, which I also uploaded. Unfortunately, I did not hear about this until after it was deleted. However, this image, like the city of Norfolk logo, is the current marketing logo of the state of Kentucky (it's on their website), and as such, is public property. The bot claims that there was no copyright tag in the image, which I beg to differ, as I am always very careful about selecting the correct image copyright tag for all of the images that I upload. In this case, the copyright tag used should be the same one (or very similar one) to the one used by the city of Norfolk seal.

I think it would be highly advisable if you would please discontinue the use of this bot until issues such as this can be resolved. Dr. Cash 19:29, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
