Hush is an American hip hop artist from Detroit, Michigan. He is of Italian and Mexican descent and he is also a long time friend of Eminem. He's also a producer and has worked with a variety of artists. He was signed to Area Code Management and DTW Records, but left for Geffen Records to release his debut album.

Career

Hush started out in the hip-hop scene in 1993. He began a friendship with an old schoolmate Champtown after a chance run-in at a Death Row Records show at Club VIP International in 1994. Hush and Champtown went to Kellwood Adult Education together in the early nineties. After countless attempts to rise in the scene with partner Ill, Champtown was at a stall, so Hush and Ill formed a group called Da Ruckus which was a name revived from an earlier group Hush formed with a friend named Nacho. Da Ruckus was signed to Federation Records after success of their independent release titled "Quiet As Kept". The two went on to release "Episode 1" which garnered national attention, and was on hiphopsite.com's Top Ten Independent albums in 1997. It featured, then unknown, Eminem on the classic "We Shine" and it also featured the Detroit classic "150 MC's".

With his creative writing expanding Hush chose to move into the solo field after producing and writing material in abundance. Since 2000, he has been garnering more and more attention. Between 2000-2002, he was signed to DTW Records as an artist and produced the bootleg album "There Goes The Neighborhood", which had created a buzz in the city. That was short lived however.

He is credited on Eminem's famous The Slim Shady EP (1997) and performed alongside Eminem and others in concert long before any of the artist were well known. Hush is a longtime collborator with Kid Rock protege Paradime and D12, and has also appeared on tracks with Slum Village and Royce Da 5'9".

In Spring 2005, Hush released his debut single "Hush is Coming" which featured Nate Dogg. The video had appearances by Eminem, Obie Trice, Swift and Omar Cruz. That same spring, Hush was included on the soundtrack for xXx: State of the Union with his song "The March". Hush released his debut album Bulletproof on Geffen Records on August 23, 2005. It featured a list of star guest appearances including long time friend Eminem, Kuniva, Swift, and Bizarre of D12, Nate Dogg, and Talib Kweli. Later that fall, a clean version of Hush's song "Fired Up" was featured on the soundtrack for the Need for Speed: Most Wanted video game.

After the release of "Bulletproof" he promoted the album by joining the Anger Management III Tour, with fellow rap musicians Eminem, Stat Quo, 50 Cent, D12, Bizarre, Obie Trice, G-Unit, Lil Jon, Ludacris, Bobby Creekwater, Mase, Mobb Deep, Pitbull and Olivia, among others.

Other activities

In 2005, Hush performed on NBC's season finale of The Contender. He also had songs on almost every episode of the show. Since 2005, he has also appeared on the Spike TV Reality show "Murder" and has been trying to his expand his career in acting.

In 2010, Hush was approached by Monica Martino and asked to be a part of her Discovery Channel series "A Dogs Life", which was later shut down by the city. In February 2011, the two founded a group called Detroit Dog Rescue to raise money for animal shelters and to help bring stray dogs off the streets of Detroit. Today, they are raising money for Detroit's first 'no kill' animal shelter, as well as placing abused, unwanted or abandoned dogs. They also involve and educate the community about the problem of stray dogs in Detroit.
